  1. Remember running 254's, they only had a six month warranty for pro use - used to budget for a new one ever 6 months until I had 2 spares - then sold the roughest and kept the better as a spare - that way the main saw was always covered. Things have to be better now the 560 has a 2 year warranty, I've been using the same dealer for years and they always try and sort us a deal - whilst they're not the cheapest their customer service is excellent. My 560 is a screamer - really impressed with it
  2. Yvone, having read the comments above I'll add my questions... Currently felling oversized outside trees that are too rough for the harvester, whilst there is no climbing involved walking approx 3/4 mile over the recently felled site is a test for legwarmers, ripped the stitching out of the seams of my stretch air pants, as a forestry hand cutter I need a tough design capable of not being ripped by the brash and plenty of room for movement as I clamber through the brash. Cheers :-)
  3. Evening all. Recently returned to felling (using a husky 560xpg), currently in Sitka & Norway and my saw is absolutely caked in black sticky resin, I'm always diligent with my maintenance but find the removal of the resin a time consuming and irritating process. Does anyone have any shortcuts etc to making the task easier/quicker. cheers in anticipation
  4. Cheers for the replies - will chance one from them - £6.00 isn't quite going to break the bank considering I was given the saw!!!! bobh - I found the shop mentioned above on ebay - was easier than using their site!!
  5. Evening, Hoping for some advice, I've just sorted a gifted husky 254, apparently it was really temperamental and subsequently thrown to the back of the shed and remained unused for a couple of years!!! Got it running, found that the fuel tank leaked at the filler, replaced the screwcap with a new one bought from a husky dealer, that also leaks, I think it's leaking between the rubber gasket - has anyone else come across this problem and been able to fix it, cheers in anticipation
  6. anyone using the Oregon combi can - is it any good - looking to replace a knackered old husky one, however sick of waiting for the new husky one??? Stihl system looks expensive by the tip you pay for the two pouring spouts
  7. I have a pair - comfortable from the first day, as above re the bright orange colour - quickly dulls. Love mine
  8. I tested a pair........... Working late one November afternoon, wet cold and absolutely fed up, ready for home, was brashing some rough trees for the harvester, As I stepped back into an unseen drainage ditch which was about 2 ft deep. Husky 254 flat out onto my left thigh........... Saw stopped instantly - trousers destroyed, underwear likewise, leg completely intact Always wear them now!!!!!!!
  9. In 2010 I completed a Help for Heroes 350mile bike ride through Northern France - we came back across to Dover on HMS Largs Bay before coming ashore on landing craft. We were lucky enough to be treated to an air display by a spitfire whilst standing on the deck of the ship - it's fair to say the pilot got fairly close to us - here's a photo (absolutely unedited)
