  7. i see you'd be in trouble if the ball got stuck
  8. spiderjack looks like the best for fast climbing but is it complicated? it looks it
  9. cheers hopefully i'll get on alright with it
  10. are they better have you used both? i have no idea about these things hc the only thing i've used other than prusik
  11. best option its difficult to get someone to take you on as a climber with no experience so 38 & 39 might be money wasted
  12. the two courses are very different, it's best to start off doing ground work until your proficient with a saw, completing cs30 and cs31 does not mean you are there just h&s courses you'll need experience before your up to the work. it's best to just do the first course and then get some work and see if you get on with it.
  13. taking the plunge into mechanical friction, thinking of going with the lockjack sport. looking for some advice on carbs, does anyone have an opinion on what the best setup is? they give you a wide range of options so not sure what to go with. as always any advice appreciated
  14. there a bit limited in what you can do with them. but if your just doing small di trunks there meant to be good and fast, there also expensive. your prob going to need an alaskan and a big saw if you want to do anything over 25" di so it's a good place to start.
  15. http://www.hse.gov.uk/treework/articles/rigging-research-4.pdf have a read through this it helped me a bit
  16. put a rigging kit together recently myself, same kind of set up as the rc2001 with 14mm sirius and a small isc pulley also a pinto loopie for redirect. the only thing id change is the rope seems to stretch alot more than other ropes ive used and you need to tie a stopper knot and smooth the rope out before you untie it after use. i didn't do this and lost the core in the sleeve. i also went for the treeup bollard only £150 so less money than the stein but only rated at 15kn wll and will only take 14mm rope. hope this helps
  17. start with an alaskan and go from there, if you start selling enough wood to justify a band saw then upgrade. even with a small band saw mill youwill still need an alaskan mill to cut down larger trunks so it's a good investment.
