I must be an idiot for not thinking of that. will def get them to do that even just to get a better look at the trunk. cheers

there is a slight back lean. was thinking rope high up attached to digger (arm could be in lowered position) make cuts and pull over. a slow but continuous pull

sounds like a good shout. i'll have to reassess the situation when I get there. not sure if the digger can reach half way up the tree

thought about that. it's scot's I think and if you've ever worked with it you will know how brittle it is i'd be afraid the digger would snap it off it's hinge. there's a slight back lean

new plan: anchor a to digger arm get the guy to send me up put rope around tree pull over

short time frame don't know if i'd get it done in one day. not looking to dismantle just put it on the ground there's a clear felling zone

was going to used 40ton digger to pull it over. problem with throw line in old pine is they get stuck in the bark and ivy. the trunk is only about 25" but the ivy about 3m
