  1. I know the ryobi stuff uses similar drive shafts to stihl need a mod one way round. Oregon being big in the aftermarket saw bars and chains wondered if they had done similar with this new tool. I picked up in it as the extension pole is half the price of the stihl. Then got me thinking ......
  2. So chain catcher arrived do I just pull the black rubber cap off the front lower AV bush and push the catcher in? managed to order the wrong sprocket 🙈 too so far a pretty bad day in the shed
  3. Just seen the Oregon multi tool (guess this is the best place to ask about it) does anyone know if the kit is interchangeable with the stihl kit? Currently have 2 kombi petrol engines and 4 attachments might be useful to know the battery could use the blower or pole saw occasionally anyone used PH600 Oregon PH600 battery combi engine – FR Jones & Son WWW.FRJONESANDSON.CO.UK
  4. Brilliant 👍 saves me £15! Now where does it fit? Discovered I need to replace another part due to previous chain damage 1123 022 1100 luckily only £2.35 l&s are great for parts but where can I get an exploded diagram? here 👍 Stihl MS 250 Chainsaw (MS250 C) Parts Diagram WWW.DIYSPAREPARTS.COM Select a page from the Stihl MS 250 Chainsaw (MS250 C) exploaded view parts diagram to find and buy spares for this machine.
  5. Seemed odd radmore and tucker £28 L&S £47!
  6. Thanks @spudulike yeah I know of L&S and have used them for parts for my kombi units. When I was taking the picture I noticed the E clip had made a break for it 🤷‍♂️ weirdly they are mega expensive for the 2in1 file 🤷‍♂️ Shame I can’t just pop to TFM and pick up what I need 😞
  7. Looks like the chain has come off before and taken the catcher with it drum is £17 cover is? E clip is 25p but bearing for drum is £5 worth doing bearing if doing cover? does it need to be special grease for the bearing? BTW thanks for the answers I get that is your day job and pays your bills
  8. Hmmm so thinking new drive sprocket needed then 🙈 also the E clip came off ok but now seems loose looks like chain has come off before at marks on the case where is the catcher? In the cover?
  9. No idea then 🤷‍♂️
  10. Last time I did a work first aid course the company that did the courses were pretty good for supplies and would make up specific kits to your needs ie the required by law plus what you are likely need the price was good and they were nice guys heavily involved in St John’s and had plenty of handy tips like carrying face shields with 1 way valves for giving cpr etc if your on either end you will want a good one! Resuscitation Masks | CPR | AEDs & CPR | Safety First Aid WWW.SAFETYFIRSTAID.CO.UK CPR face shields protect the rescuer from infection whilst performing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. They also provide a barrier against vomit and other bodily fluids which may be...
  11. Thanks I’ll pick up some synthetic bar oil and check the stuff I had been using which is pretty old probably 10+ years and did seem a bit gloopy any recommendations for synth bar oil of occasional users?
  12. Thanks I’ll check the bar but looked good the other night. Bio chain oil or motor oil? It looks from what’s in the tank it’s using a blue/green oil mix previously I used the stihl red 2 stroke. if you mean chain oil then I’m wondering if the chain oil I have been using on pole saw has gone off and gummed it up would like to get my hand on that and strip it down but it’s 120 miles away and not essential
  13. I’m not too far from you (Cardiff) and very much an amateur myself but let me know if you decide not to keep the saw, Blackwood chainsaws have a good rep locally I have a mate who has owned a few huskies and rates them and there are plenty of other dealers about my stihl originally came from a place near usk. lockdown makes things a bit trickier but I’m sure there are a few people closer who would be able to help aspen supposed to be good but fresh unleaded stored properly mixed as you need with quality 2 stroke oil has worked for me in several tools with engines that get little use (a few times a years most years) that said I just bought a stihl as they seem so much so better (my experience is from kombi motors rather than saws)
  14. So I recently got myself an MS250 it’s had a well used previous life but seems in good order I have given it a clean it’s running well starts so much easier even from cold than the husky 235 I have been using. it’s got an 18” stihl bar and .325 chain which is sharp ( to me at least) need to learn to sharpen it myself going to get one of those nifty 2in1 files (are the knock off eBay £13 ones any good?) So far I took the bar and chain off, cleaned out a lot of old compacted dust and oil, took the recoil starter off gave it a clean, checked the oil pump is running. cleaned the plug (will check the gap) fuel filter looks clean. I don’t have a compressor to blow the dust out, but keen to learn and be able to look after the machine hopefully for many more years service but while I have time on my hands anything I should be doing? I was tempted by a project saw but wary of buying an expensive mistake that would end up costing me more than a decent running unit (hopefully haven’t made a mistake as I spent a little more than I had planned)
  15. Yeah looks like the 251 came out in 2018/19? A few 250s stihl 🤣 kicking around in dealer shelves I’m sure mine is a 2006 250 not sure if that makes it an early one? Gets a few mixed reviews I thought (wrongly) it’s an entry level pro saw rather than the top of the range homeowner saw 🤷‍♂️ More than I need and hopefully better than the husky 235 I have been using!
  16. I wanted the longer bar for reach in a particular job but yeah I might look to get a shorter bar and chain. A stihl 2in1 file is first on the list..... parts seem fine and common to others models think they have been replaced now?
  17. So picked up a tidy if well used MS250 with 18" bar for a decent if not amazing price its a well used saw, but complete and working with a sharp (for now) chain and genuine bar and a fully working brake!
  18. In a similar vain the old Stihl "duvet" chaps i had from many years ago have succumbed to mouse bedding 😒 will stop a saw but not a raunchy rodent....😬 They also had a good go at the gloves and boots stored in the same bag.... I dont use a saw often and only on the ground (i was never a great tree climber even in my youth) I have recently acquired an MS250 to get on with some long overdue garden clearing and to cut some logs. What is the best trouser option for those of us whose girth is greater than our draught ie waist larger then inside leg (considering bib an braces style to complete the umpa lumpa look!)
  19. I didn’t say it was easy....... I agree it’s like most thing spend the money or have a load of issues and end up spending more, there seems to be a lot of the “refurbished” saws being sold on eBay/marketplace I have my suspicions on the sellers if anyone has a decent working saw for sale let me know
  20. If it was a tool I needed for my job I get that completely so far have managed with a borrow husky and managed with that and a combi polesaw but the 210 mile round trip to borrow the husky from my dad eats into the saving now my sister has moved and has more garden very over grown and in need of a lot of cutting back this summer time seemed right to invest in a saw plus I’m unemployed and bored 🙈
  21. Guess I need some help to know that 16”+ is 50cc ish 🤷‍♂️ was hoping to spend £150 rather than £400 ms260 upwards I guess
  22. Love it! so part of the reason was the fact it’s occasional home owner use only, people don’t rate the new domestic level saws 181 etc, happy to learn and repair as I go rather than buy cheap Chinese made stuff.... having access to a Husqvarna 235 (I think) it’s a rarely used and frustrating device where as my also rarely used stihl Kombi is are a dream I was hoping an older saw I could learn to use would be a better buy, but want to be safe. or should I just go buy an aldi/Lidl special 🤷‍♂️ is there a classified section on here?
  23. The saw was available with and without a brake at the time it was optional
  24. Wonder what the couple with the big blue IKEA bags in a cardiff park were up to the other week 🤔🤔🤔
  25. Interested as was looking to do the same on an 032 how did you get on with Stihl U.K.?
