  1. Ye that had me hesitating on it for a while. Just figured I will get one fabricated when I have had it pay it's way. Got chatting to someone who has already done that with his MDL chipper and works a treat. But I agree it's not ideal as is.
  2. Ye, even I have been kicking around these forums long enough to not expect much else. I don't know what came over me. I got the MDL Powerup 15hp. Was pretty impressed with the look of it when I went to have a look compared to other chippers in that low budget range.
  3. Fair play, you are right. They can do what they want for sure. It just seems to go round in circles.
  4. Getting into these heated discussions on a public forum of 'mine is better than yours' and copyright arguments etc. can not be doing your company image any good. But thanks to all the useful posts on here that resulted in me finally joining the club earlier this week.
  5. Any one got any views or feedback on the MDL Powerup chipper? Not going to be used full time, just first chipper to get me going. Seems well priced and the company is not too far away from me. Budget won't stretch to CS100 or JO Beau sadly. https://www.mdlpowerup.com/product/15hp-towable-petrol-chipper/

    .

They seem a tad pricey. Why not find a local supplier and order through them, lower carbon footprint then this 'free delivery UK wide'.
  7. Thanks Saul, I will get in touch when I have confirmation of the job. Still waiting on TPO application and don't want to waste your time if nothing comes of it.
  8. May have the job of removing a mature cedar in Ilkley, Yorkshire. Would you be interested Rough Hewn?
  9. I'm doing it through HCC also. One thing I have come to realise is not to get to involved in the notes they provide and do my own research. Not too impressed with the tutor system they have so far to be honest.
  10. Where abouts in Yorkshire are you? I may have a job coming up removing a large Cedar, would be a shame to send it for firewood.
  11. I am currently slowly working my way through the course as well. I get most of the theory without too much hassle so far, I just have problems with what it is they are asking for a lot of the time with daft worded questions. Who are you doing the course with?
  12. yes to felling bar, if you have wedges then take them along but I wouldn't expect to need them. and they will tell you what to look out for during assessment. Enjoy
  13. I have been doing the same for the last week...although I am still non the wiser on what chipper best suits my situation haha!
  14. Perfect! Thanks very much Steve much appreciated. Is the tip directory part of the site/app still under construction or did i need to do more snooping around on the site to find it?
  15. Did anything come of this? Pretty keen on trying to find somewhere to tip near Skipton, N Yorkshire and a directory of sorts would be handy.
  16. Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows of any tip sites for chip and timber in the Skipton/Keighley/Colne area. Cheers, Alec Sent from my HTC One M9 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. Spot on Gary. Thanks for your help.
  18. This is something I have been thinking of while reading the comments. I would not want to encourage them to keep the tree but spend a decent amount of money reducing it only to find out in a couple of years they have to spend another chunk of money because the disease had effected the tree more than first thought. So for this and for them to have the piece of mind of not having to worry about it again, I am leaning towards removal and encouraging planting I'm it's place But that being said, I will give them the info you good people have shared and let them make a decision.
  19. Thanks for that Gary. Would you expect to see a large amount of decay and rot in this tree or is it still early days in terms of decay?
  20. Well my grandparents are pretty happy for it coming down if there is any risk, no matter how small a risk, of it being unsafe. It is in reach of there house, just about. If that answers your question treeseer. stubby, is your view of it being in decline just down to the age and life span of the tree, or as a result of the disease? Out of interest what would your recommendations be in such a tree? (understand it is difficult to say with sertanty with such little info).
  21. Hi all, I work with trees however not really clued up on signs of disease's and what it means for the management of a tree. My grandparents neighbours had a guy in carrying out some work on their trees and he noticed their large sycamore and stopped by to tell them it is diseased and recommended having it removed. I wanted to come on here and get your opinion (not that I distrust his professionalism, just thought it wise as he potentially has some invested interest in carrying out the work if they decide to remove it). The tree is a multi stem Sycamore right on the edge of a small stream. Fungus and black charcoal textured substance near the Base of the tree, back of the tree in shade all day and on the stream side of the trunk. There is also a good amount of dead wood up the tree. If anyone would be able to share some wisdom I would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Alec
  22. Just to update, I also now hold my CS32, and NPTC chipper tickets and I am still looking for work in the area.
  23. I am looking to move back near Chester as my girlfriend has had to move for work. I am ideally looking for full time employment but understand that I may need to take part time/subbie work at least to begin with. Qualifications include: - NPTC CS30 & 31 (large tree felling experience, planning to get myself the ticket ASAP) - NPTC Brushcutter & Clearing Saw - NPTC PA1 & PA6 aw - NPTC Tractor & Mulcher - B+E trailer licence - Emergency First Aid at Work +forestry - CSCS My experience is mainly working in forestry and conservation contracting as well as groundie work. Have all own PPE & saws. If anyone has any work available or looking to add more subbies to their list please feel free to message me on here or contact me on 07814976998. Happy to send full CV if requested. Thanks a lot for reading, Alec
  24. Ye, so far so good. Not sure if the update has changed much other than the looks of the saw (never used the older versions). We had 560's before, loved the saw but got fed up of them needing attention. So far the 362 has been a good substitute.
  25. We have picked up two new 362's about 3 weeks ago and they are the 'updated' version.
