  1. Buying furniture to restore and sell in our shops.
  2. Hi I drive to Europe in a 7.5 ton a couple of times a year. Our o licence is a full one. Our lorry is parked up most of the time. Does that mean I don't need a cpc in sept. ?? Thanks.
  3. Hi Chris, Just to clarify. I did my operators licence a couple of years ago and the info I have given is what I was told on the course to the best of my ability. We bought a 7,5ton truck and I found out that I needed an ops licence even though I already had the 7.5ton entitlement. In September the law will change again and anyone who drives one commercially needs a cps. Concerning the 6 wk checks there is a sliding scale i.e: a lorry that is only used a couple of days a week in "light" work can be tested less frequently than every 6 wks. A lorry used daily in heavy work situations such as a quarry tipper can be required to be tested more frequently up to every 4 weeks. Having said that the rules are changing all the time and it is hard to keep up.... I'm pretty certain that a tacho is required regardless of distance and mileage. I remember before I went on my ops course I had been told many different things about 7.5 rules by many different people and a lot of the advice I was given turned out to be incorrect due to changes in the law. Best to find out from VOSA what applies to you, Thanks mate Ti
  4. Hi Chris, Yes to all the above... You will need to take CPS training before September (not sure exact date..but best to book in now before the rush) All road vehicles above 3.5 tons require a tacho. You will need to carry out checks every 6 weeks on your vehicle. You will also need to hold an operators licence. Check with VOSA for exact details. Didn't realise an iveco was so heavy. Our landscaping teams use the equivalent transit crew cab tippers which weigh 2.6 tons unladen. We were always overweight when our tree team used them even without the chipper. We were going to go the 7.5ton route but decided to get a mog. Agricultural registered. Zero road tax No tacho Car licence ok No ops licence or cps required (We do carry out six week checks and run on white diesel due to road use though) Hope this helps Ti
  5. Love my Haix air power gold. Had no risk climbers before. These are MUCH better... They have softened up nicely but still give good support. Very comfy and waterproof. Some say they are a bit on the soft side for spikes. Had them 8 months now and still in great nick. Will get another pair unless someone shows me something better. Thanks
  6. Agreed mate, I've had my 30/31 for about 6 years and my 38/39 for about 6 months. The more I work (and read this forum! ), I realise I haven't even scratched the surface.....,,,

  8. Betel uk. Saved my life, I was a heroin addict for 20 years... Written off by society and everyone else including my family (understandably given the hell I put them through). Desperately wanted to change my life. Came to Betel 8 years ago and with their help have remained completely clean. Now work full time with Betel. I run a centre with up to 18 guys in various stages of recovery. Also run a tree surgery business that provides income for the charity. Also met my lovely wife through Betel and am now happily married living a clean productive life, helping others overcome addiction issues. ( did I mention we also do treework? :)) Residents enter free of charge and work in Betel businesses to help pay for their own recovery. Residents don't claim benefits and we receive no government funding. I am just one of many who have been helped by this charity.. Passed my CS 30/31 & CS 38/39 while in Betel We manage to raise about 85-90% of our running cost through our charitable businesses. The rest we rely on donations. Thanks for considering us! Timon
  9. 49 in a couple of weeks........ Outwardly perishing but, inwardly being renewed..
  10. Gill fingerless climbing gloves... Good protection.... Excellent grip and good dexterity being fingerless.. I try not to wear them in conifers 'cos they get very dirty. Bit pricey but I love them.
  11. Hi Steve , Massive splash back!! Enclosed system has to be the way forward!! (And a Mitsubishi like that to do quotes in!!) Ti
  12. Hi Riggerbear, Here are a couple of photos of the work our guy did on the cab... We were on the verge of get a replacement cab unit, all the corners were shot, the wheel arches had gone and the floor was just galv sheets covering the virtually non existent floor... We're well chuffed with the work done.. Drives great and is a great tool to have.. I checked out the previous firms website... There replacement mog looks amazing !! along with the rest of their fleet... Tried to PM these photos to you through this app but couldn't. Cheers mate Timon
  13. mog envy!!!! :)
  14. Thanks Elliot .... Will check him out.. Ti
  15. Riggerbear, I'll send you some pictures of the mog next week.. The guy that did the work is a genius..., He builds vehicles from scratch... Starts with old chassis cabs and builds mewps, shot blasting units, Truck based pressure washers... Etc... You name it he can build it..., We gave him the mog as soon as we bought it from A/VOS. He checked and sorted all the pipework. Spray coated the chassis and underside etc... Sorted all the mechanical jobs. Service etc and completely welded and reworked the cab.. Bout six times less than A/V would have charged.... But they did us a favour by selling it to us "as is" so we are grateful to them as well. It was the only way we could have afforded it really.. Thanks and have a good weekend! Timon
  16. Thanks Steve , I have found the point where the box goes over too far... As far as I can make out the hydraulic pump only powers up. Next time I see the mechanic I'll ask him about the circuit ...
  17. The box on this mog only has one door and that is on the side.... The cut out was necessary to accommodate the GM Shute. The 3pt link needs to be in down position in order to start it up due to the prop shaft angle. It can't tip with the Shute in the box so it needs to have room to swing out of the box..... Hence the larger cut out on rear... It's seems like shortening the Shute or fabricating a bespoke one is the answer... Will wait until we get new larger one made and design one from scratch. Thanks for all of your help Ti
  18. Rigger Bear.....I said this to our mechanic but he thought the chains could be dangerous .... Not sure quite what he meant tho .... He said risk of toppling the mog..... Not sure. I was just chuffed he did a good job of getting it ready.... Do you remember how rotten the cab was????? Our guy did a cracking job... We will get a new box bespoke made in time...££££ perhaps stick the chipper on the front.... Then crane/mewp on rear and timber trailer..... dream dream!!!!
  19. Hi Steve , Totally agree..... Having bigger kit speeds the job up but takes you into higher maintenance territory... Efficiency is key to being competitive... Being relatively new we're still learning basic stuff (and making schoolboy errors sometimes!!). But we're getting there!! Nice set up you have there!! Thanks ,Timon
  20. Thanks for your comments and advice guys As far as I know light board is not a legal requirement (told by green mech). But is probably a good idea! No hassle from plod yet!! Really hate to take a disc cutter to the new chipper but if it helps ...... Many thanks!!!
  21. Some very good points raised here. What we should get compared to what we end up with can vary a lot.. We do about 30 quotes a week and book about 60-70% of them in the diary.... There are so many "firms" out there working for pittance. It's a fine balancing act to maintain value for ourselves and competing with cheap teams. I've looked at our figures and on average our 3 man teams earn between £450-£650 per truck per day.... Seems to be swings and roundabouts. Sometimes we're forced to do cheaper work just to keep going. We never set out to undercut everyone.... We don't want to de-value the industry. Thanks
  22. I tried the lever every which way to get the bed back down... The problem is the weight of the box itself... Top heavy..It won't return under its own power ..... I also understand that being under an un- propped body is v. Dangerous . Big Joe (pictured) knew the risks when he got up there... And lived to tell the tale!! (This time!!!) I agree and accept responsibility and friendly correction when it is offered. Won't happen again!!
  23. Like I said... The hydraulic ram that lifts the tipper bed "over extends" all the weight of the bed is transferred past the point of no return and the bed won't return. Mechanical assistance from a tractor bucket or similar is needed to pull it back over so it will return. There is no possibility of the bed falling down.. Even if the hydraulics failed or ruptured. Thanks for your concern though....
  24. Unimog tips over full extention and won't pull itself back. Prop not needed
  25. Hi Steve , We've got a mog and pto green mech but we had to open up the hole in the box to accommodate the chipper.... (Previous owner had a different chipper with a more direct feed in.) The velocity out of the chipper is immense..... It blows (forces) dust and chips out of even the tiniest gap in the box! In the fullness of time we will get a box made... This one is a bit rotten underneath but still has some life left. Thanks, Ti
