  1. Nobody has used one of these then. Still unsure as what to buy as the normal Mitox 2 stroke has not got a great rep - was just thinking that the kawa engine version might be OK.
  2. Cheers will have one last go, otherwise its off to the menders
  3. Customer I cut the lawns for ask me if I knew what was going on with her tree. I said i didn't know but I would try and find out Any ideas guys from the iphone photo's attached.

  5. My clutch drive cable snapped and i have just got round to putting another one one, real bloody pain with that effin roller in the way. But in doing so the spring that holds the blade belt under tension has come off and for the life off me I cant get it back on as I just cannot get my hand into the machine. I really do need to remove the roller now. My question is how do you remove the roller is it easy or have I got to totally dismantle the machine. Appreciate any help. paul
  6. Thanks for all the advice will see if the plug is oily and have a play with the mix - if no good will do a google search again for a carb kit, so far it came up with nothing.
  7. Thanks for the info - any idea where I can get one of these carb kits on the web please?
  8. I am having big problem with my hedge cutter - it will start but then will not run properly, will not maintain the revs and then keeps conking out. If I increase the choke i can get it to run much better but not for long. Any idea whats wrong with it and can I being a newbie to anything mechanical fix it
  9. Bloody big job in tomorrow and just checked the weather BIG ball of sun all day - knackered by tea time now then. Like Big J bring on those cooler months
  10. Every hour I can in the spring/summer/autumn - nowt in the winter as I spend it in Spain normally My old bones hate the cold weather.
  11. Try, try, try and hold off. The kestrel is now struggling in this country. There has been a pretty huge decline in numbers from what i have read
  12. Where is the best, sorry cheapest place to get a 12ft adjustable set from please? Dogman clear your messages, as you have reached your limit you popular boy
  13. Just did a van i bought over the weekend. I used a hairdryer and ice scraper to remove all the lettering and images. Then use petrol on a cloth to remove all the adhesive that is left.
  14. I have one as well, mine is the fixed version not a combi - fantastic piece of kit for big lawns with lots of edges saves so much time and bad backs. Does a way better job than the upside down strimmer as well
  15. Ladders and the bloody locks that fit them to the roofracks. They take a age to remove in the rain standing on the van sill trying to undo the buggers
  16. Not sure for how much longer mind you as my local tip will not even let me in with my van I have to travel to use this tip. What are you paying for a full 7x 5 trailer to empty at these commercial sites out if interest.
  17. Ha ha its a awful lot more than hedge cutting. No grass cutting big borders to hand dig over as full of rocks which she wants shifting. I would pay my assistant a least a ton a day as with this job he would earn it. If you saw the job and the aggro I can see you would want mega bucks I am sure. Anyway I have gone in at £400 a day labour + extra for waste removal. I am prety certain I will get the job now as no one else wants it so the son told me today.
  18. Leaflet drops worked for me. Also i would drop of a card at any house that looks like the garden needed attention
  19. I like that idea. The trips to the tip which I reckon in my 8x5 trailer with us jumping on top of the waste will be x3 and its a 20 mile round trip to a tip that allows me in. This of course will be on top of the 8 hours we spent in the customers garden as they never like you buggering off, even if it is to get rid of there waste So I think a price for the job and a price for shifting might be a idea. Thanks again.
  20. Really like to thank you for all the comments. Forgot to mention that the access is horrid as the house has been extended sideways so you have to go through the utility and then garage which she does not want me to do. SO the other side of the house is a max 2 foot wide going down to a foot wide, I kid you not. So all the stuff we take down will have to be cut up small to get down this narrow passage, so more time needed. So I think its going to have to be day rate for two guys - now how much should this be taking into account all the bloody aggro and having to shift and cut everything + tip runs. Off the top of my head I reckon £250 a man for eight hours each. £500 for the day and no promises we get everything done in one day. What do you think. NO big trees to take down just small stuff as mentioned before. The more I think about this, do i really want this job haha Cheers Paul
  21. I am now a gardener after my cleaning biz went pontoon after I was taken for 40K about 7 years ago. Tried and still do some cleaning but was asked to do some gardening about 3 years ago. The gardening stuff went bananas so nowadays it is my main source of income. Mainly lawn cutting and hedge work. I do a little bit of cleaning but I would say 90% is gardening stuff. I will do anything and will use a chainsaw when asked. I have used saws all my life as was bought up using one with my dad, so I basically am ok doing little trees. NO CLIMBING MIND YOU. BUT I have not got a clue about costing the bigger garden jobs. I have been asked to do a total tidy up which will include border work tree removal and pruning. Hedges are a mess, basically all in crap order - HOW do I quote for it is my question. I will have my mate with me as its got to be all taken away. No chipper as yet so a few trips down the tip included as well. Do I just give a price for the day or a total price for the job???? Just interested in how you guys would quote this job. Woman's could be a pain in the arse as she aint 100% sure what she actually wants me to do.haha

    Chainsaw help

Really appreciate all the help, just had another play. Got it to start at least but instantly konks and now will not start again, pulling my arm out so its time for a break. Another look at it tomorrow maybe, when I am a little less grumpy

    Chainsaw help

I bought this little chainsaw last week. I eventually got it running but it would just konk out the minute I pressed the throttle and now its cut out completely and will not even start. It looks brand new although is probably a few years old. Its a Neilson CT2624 25.4 cc saw. Any ideas what i can try to get it going, I am not great with the spanners but willing to have a go. Cheers Paul
