  1. Just been offered one of these and was wondering what are they worth and are they any good for small stumps. Its old but not had a lot of work. But will I think need new teeth or sharpening. Looks decent condition from when i saw it. Thanks
  2. Lucky for me the tip still lets me in with my van and trailer. I am going to up the budget now after hearing your views - 2k max missed a 8 inch bearcat on ebay last night went for £1700 - I made a £1200 offer and now its sold for asking. A couple more on ebay Housemartin Wood Chipper | eBay Asked a few questions and he said it struggles even with 4 inch stuff. and this one - still waiting for a reply from the seller, but cant seem to find anything about this model. Arborist tree surgeon wood chipper | eBay This one I have just gone off as its a 320 mile trip to collect and not sure about it at all. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281396588358?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  3. Appreciate all the advice - what would you recommend with feed rollers then??? I have sent you a pm Wefixit
  4. I should of said chipper/shredder. I do work on smaller trees pruning etc as well. Its for the future really as i get more of this type of work. Doing a conifer reduction this week and the thought of bagging it all up and taking to the tip will be a pain. Will be removing the chip off site.
  5. Not sure I am in the right place for posting this but here goes Been wanting to get a chipper for a while now, but unsure if I can get the work for it. At the mo I am mainly doing lawn cutting and general garden work and hedges. But picked up a couple of better jobs and having to keep filling builders bags and then doing a 24 mile round trip to the local tip is eating into my time. So I am thinking of spending about a grand on a used chipper. Seen this one, its a Bearcat 73420 towable chipper. Couple of questions, are these any good, also what would you recommend me to look out for. All new to me. Cheers Paul

  7. I was cutting a hedge yesterday and the customer said to me he was told hedges should all slope on the top - true or false as i just square em up
  8. ANY new commercial job I take now, I ask for a deposit up front - never had one refuse so far. Got taken for 50K when I was running my cleaning business, nearly lost my house, but survived thankfully by working my bleedin butt off, was a younger man then with a 3 children so just had to. I am very fussy who I take on these days.
  9. Thanks Graham
  10. Spraying is a no no as they are huge. So will make sure all leaves are destroyed. Appreciate the advice. Thanks, Paul
  11. Yes pretty sure its a cherry - been asked to prune it this week as it gone all straggly. Will it be ok to do at this time of year? Just going to get it back into some sort of shape.
  12. Thank you - other than being very unsightly is there any cause for concern with this?
  13. A customer has asked me what this is. The trees are badly affected. One tree is covered all over with it and the others just the bottom 50% with the top looking OK.
  14. Can you tell me what this is please.
  15. I would be happy with that one
  16. Love it was it easy to make it up, as it would be ideal for me
  17. Thanks for the advice, before it went completely when the drive was not engaged the roller would stick solid sometimes so I could not move it forwards or backwards, then it would be ok other times.
  18. Looks like my gearbox has gone - was squeaking a bit then jammed up a couple of times then the cable just sprang out and all went dead with the roller. I have had it 3 years and it was used then - is it worth repairing as its a old unit but the engine is fantastic. Does have a small split in the body which makes me think its just better to look for another second hand one. Whats the sort of price to get this fixed. Some one said £400 How you get so attached to a bloody mower is daft - but I did
  19. If you mean the fuel tank filter, I did not change it but did try to start the machine without it on - made no difference.
  20. Errrrrrrrrrr no where is the tank filter hahaha Not cut out for this stuff I reckon
  21. Quick update. I put the carb kit on and fired it up - brilliant I have sorted it. The bloody thing ran perfectly for 5 minutes then cut out and now want start at all. Tries to but just will not. Should I just buy a complete carb or bin the thing. I found a complete carb for £18 on ebay so just need to confirm its the right one then make my decision. I suppose putting a new one on might not even be the solution.
  22. Not sure what to do now. There are not any used hedge cutter attachments on ebay and as you said I may end up getting a wreck. Will have a think, thanks again for the help. Paul
  23. Thanks guys will report back to my customer. If is was aphid damage are they visible to the human eye?
  24. Mine has to be the handle bar one of course
  25. i have a old wickes multi tool system that is on its last legs + I keep getting bloody shocks from the thing now I do have a FS-55 strimmer that i do not use, should I just get a used hedge cutter attachment and fit that to my FS-55?? Would it fit and would it work are my other questions haha Thanks for the help. paul
