  1. The eastern made splitters look awsome I tried to buy one in the uk once but the eastern pulled the plug with the supplier a couple of weeks before it was due and I don’t think anywhere else in the uk sell them from what I can see. jensen make a decent kinetic log splitter (can’t tenner the model) and again I can’t find a supplier in the uk only in the eu
  2. So I've cut the hole in the existing flue waiting for the builder to come and knock out the internals (I wanted him to say if they were weight baring) Just to be sure this is twin wall flue are we saying it's not the correct grade?!?
  3. Will having the same discussion at the moment..... Me and my dad decided one evening that we would cut out our old fire place and guess what the liner was still installed from the old boiler!! I have been told this can't be used and has to be stainless steel!! A bit of magnet testing and it is stainless steel.... So went to the stove shop and asked the man can we use existing liner he said ohhhh no we have to fit it... I wasn't too convinced so I downloaded the hetas install regulations and basically if the smoke test is acceptable it's double lined stainless steel then I think your good to go.. Going to get signed of by my local installer through. Hetas guide lines below http://www.hetas.co.uk/wp-content/mediauploads/BFCMA-General-Guidance-10-12-12.pdf
  4. The feed in tariff generally drops with the cost of the install!!! At the days of like 40p a kW the install costs were thur the roof!! There's a spreadsheet that estimates your return!!
  5. Your problem is the storing the power, this isn't the cheap part of the job!!! You could have solar panels on the roof and achieve maybe a 10kw system on a roof that size (South facing and no shading provided) this will then give u a 230v supply so you could run normal light fittings and fit the she's out properly, not sure if you qualify for the feed in tarrif I'd have to clarify that as I've never done a system not grid connected!!! But you need light at night and that's where there is no sunlight so you would need a battery storage system !!! I have seen a few on the market more and more lately though!!
  6. Thanks ste I'll have a look!!
  7. There's my idea out the window then !!! What are they called?!?
  8. Has anybody tried the pto choppers that chop decent size sticks into small logs or smaller stuff to kindling?!?! Seams less of a waste than chipping and they fall straight into a bag so could be stored dried n maybe sold easier than chip ??????...... I can't remember what the chopper is called tho!!!
  9. How about sticking all the saw dust in one of those pellet making hoppers!!! Then you can sell the pellets aswell!!!
