  1. Hi Mark, thanks. I did take a central anchor with a couple of redirects for rigging back the two extended limbs over the garden which enabled me to work the two limbs ( but no suitable high rigging points, so had to try out a "fishing pole" set up, which was a first for me) Although as said, on the other sections to be pruned was able to set lines through the limb, which enabled access straight to the work which was great. Had to have a lot of rope for a basal anchor, fair girth. Cheers
  2. Hi, yes that's the tree, looks a lot different without the foliage
  3. Great video, enjoyed watching, as said smooth rope work and nice camera angles : )
  4. Thanks James, I'm really enjoying the benefits of SRT for certain jobs, the assents are great, and conserve energy, and the ability to redirect and still move is great for work position. I've found the vids on here great for picking up tips and techniques. It's a home made version made from a petzl croll and tennex that my work mate spliced up for me. Works great Cheers
  5. Thanks Matty, The cable was attached to the limb of which I removed the dead section and coronet cut. It was a lag bolt which was loosely attached to the dead section. Hope that makes sense. Cheers
  6. Hi David, thanks, I will add some stills when I get the files of a work mate. I don't think the video does the tree justice. The works where a continuation of a planned retrenchment that has been carried out by the company I work for since 2004. The tree is owned by the LA, so it's great that they are keeping up with the schedule and carrying out works annually. The tree is responding very well and is very vigorous. Cheers
  7. Nice vid, enjoyed watching that
  8. Hi, I'm not sure to be honest, I'll try and find out, would be interesting to know of any other multi stemmed GS
  9. Thanks, yeah it's a very interesting tree, it's a bit of a mystery as to how it became multi stemmed. But this has certainly presented some unique architecture which is unfortunately prone to failure, hence the cable bracing and pruning.
  10. Any one got a wood chip site in Cheddar, much appreciated cheers Sam Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  13. Thanks! The field was separately owned to the house (owner of tree). I was not involve in the planning, but assume that was the best access agreement that fitted in with the time frame for the job. Personally I think it's sometimes easier to process a large mature broadleaf via dismantling. Less mess a d damage to the ground but horses for courses! Don't think the section landed on the cable, but no damage to it, so all good : ) Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  14. Hi, thanks, yeah great weather and a real fun job. Rare to have such a big drop zone, no traffic, bt cables ect! The tree had previously dropped a large limb that wrote off a car and on a separate occasion a child was injured due to a falling limb. The company I work for had suggested, and carried out reduction work on and tree and a deadwood, but the customer was adamant on total removal. One of those jobs, where its a shame to remove such a tree, but also great fun. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  17. Thanks, looks a great bit of kit!
  18. Great vid, enjoyed that, some handy techniques to try!
  19. Just out of interest, are there any advantages over the GRCS (harken) winch other than cost? Great vid as always!
  20. Yep moving down the running bowline beats re-tying the block. Redirected the rope of the bottom of the tree through a sling and shackle.
  21. Tried this for the first time to section down the main stem on a beech dismantle a few days ago. Used over negative rigging as no targets directly below, just needed to prevent the timber rolling down the hill into gate/fence. And could not fell. Worked great, was quicker than NR and prevented wear on the gear. Also could take bigger sections most of the footage was unusable, but heres a few clips
  22. Nice one, ta will give that a go. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
