  1. Cheers, yep the mini loader makes moving timber a pleasure rather than a back breaking chore!
  2. Hi, yeah the safe block was great, nice to be able to snatch onto it and then transfer the load over to the craning point. The rope wants down to the grcs and Phill managed both rigging lines. We also used the safebloc for double blocking the timber down but the go pro died. Cheers
  3. Hi, thanks for your comments. Speed line would have been nice although we didn't have much height over the swimming pool. Cheers
  4. End of day 2
  5. Me stood on a cable brace installed between the two trees
  6. End of day 3
  7. View up the pull line, 4:1 fiddle block to pull the timber off.
  8. Poplars after day 1
  9. A few picture of the trees before we started to give some perspective , as couldn't work out how to get onto the go pro edit. Cheers
  10. Nice edit, like the drone footage, would love to get one. Cheers Sam 🖒
  11. Thanks Reg, We have had the crane driver before and about 3 times this year. We have found him to be very good, on board with the team, Co operative and skilled ( which can't be said for every driver we have had). It probably wasn't clear from the video, but the landing zone for the picks was quite tight, there was not much room to manuva or slew the crane, we where struggling to land the peices down the road, so had to take it steady. Cheers
  12. Hi Mark thanks. I ran out of battery come the end of the day, so missed my boss Colin picking off the bigger timber. Some of the other guys on the job got some good photos I'll ask them to put them up. Cheers
  13. Cheers, That was the weight of all the lifts on the crane day. We spent the day before stripping out as much of the crown as possible and where also rigging on the day of the crane. We estimated the total weight of the tree to be around 45 t. Was a big old chestnut
  14. That's it in a nut shell, we had a road closure for the day, so had to be done. The cost of a longer road closure and extra labour to rig it down would far out way the hire of a crane. So more efficient and therefore competitive price. Cheers
  15. Thanks, was a big chestnut, we did 23 Lifts with the crane that day, totalling 39 tonnes of timber. Crane was the only real option for that one.
  16. Nice, looked like a fun tree 🖒
  17. Nice, that's some smooth crane work, How are you estimating the pre tension for the crane? looks bob on! Is that Bonobo, black Sands?
  18. Ahh cool, hopefully that will work for you silky, cheers Matt
  19. Cheers, yeah I used the Mewp to get a lift up at the start aswell, nice to be able to get above the decending limbs. And stripped a fair bit out. My boss Colin, did most of the timber from the Mewp, so much easier to tie the big impact block, with an 8m dead eye and 20mm rope than of spikes 😀
  20. Ahh, not sure what's going on there, I think maybe it's not available on mobiles, I'll try changing the changing the tune and uploading again when I'm back this evening. 🖒
  21. A few clips from this take down last week. Unfortunately managed to turn off my go pro as the top came out and missed all the timber. Good fun job. Cheers
  22. Cheers, anything that makes the job smoother and more efficient is all good.
  23. Cheers, think it worked out about £250 including postage and had to pay import tax.
