  1. Just finished cutting 70t of birch at muir of ord, think the landowner has already got someone lined up for it but can find out if you would like?
  2. Caledonia forestry services got the palax active on offer with a honda engine, might be worth a look!
  3. The chute is 200mm wide so you can cut 160mm kindling no problem, think we cut 180mm, but have cut some as short as 110 just to see what happened and it cut no problem! Hope this helps!

  5. I would call the right wood just someting straight grained, we try and use larch but have made some real nice kindling out of sitka recently! There is a door on top that allows you access prob not as easy to clean out as the kindlett but not really a problem! Mine is the pto model and really needs 2 people working it to make the most of its capabilities!
  6. Yeah it can do bags like that if your any good with it and putting the right wood through!just open the door on top and you can take out any waste!
  7. Weve got the posch cant speak highly enough of it, wouldnt even consider any of the others when we come to replace it!

    Had one for the last 4yrs excellent truck, carrys weight brilliantly but is a bit hard on diesel, new ones might be better on fuel!
  9. Had the igland 55 since 2004 cant fault it never had a thing go wrong with it, only choice in my opinion!
  10. Also at Caledonians open day yesterday, found jim and all his staff very polite and helpfull, wasnt a massive day but was still enjoyable with a good supply of tea coffee and snacks! Ended up ordering a log deck!
  11. Disagree with doug beattie bout palax being junk, ive had 2 palax now and never had a beakdown! Also know of 3 tajfun he has provided and they have all had stupid niggly problems! Dont think you would regret changing to posch or paax!

  16. Hi, was looking for some opinions on how good u v stabilised vented bags are?do they really remain in good condition if left out in the sun for long periods? Thanks guys
  17. I would say its pretty expensive, last load I bought was £36 a ton delivered! Thats in the highlands!

  19. Hi, im looking to buy a log splitter and been looking at various different ones, but was wondering if anyone has or has used one of the ktm 18 ton splitters? They seem to be a good price , but was wondering what peoples opinions of them are? Many thanks
  20. Yes it will, never actually done it with mine but its just a matter of turning the size dial on top of the machine! From what I was told when I went to see the machine at wilsons the electric one ie slightly slower than the tractor model, so more suited to being used by one person! Also have a friend in cornwall who has had both versions and he said they were both excellent!
  21. Ive never used a kindlett but have got a posch and think its an excellent machine, never had any problems with it and delighted with its out put! Mine is the pto version!
  22. Agree with jakey boy, jim at caledonian is good to deal with, actually traded my my processor in with him today! Very helpfull.
  23. Palax combi is a good processor to start out with and some of the older ones can be picked up pretty resonable with plenty life left in them!
  24. Sell our 48x78cm nets for £2.65 wholesale and £4 retail, thats for seasoned softwood!
