  1. The 10 series John Deeres are brilliant tractors, almost bomb proof. See plenty of them still about and the second hand value is still high, which tells you alot. Having said that, i would recommend taking a ag mechanic with you, might cost you 50-60 quid but in the long run it would be worth it.
  2. The loader is really just to get everything in one place ready for chipping, as you rightly say it wouldn't work in terms of feeding the chipper. The size I go for is ultimately determined by demand, I am guessing that larger chippers as in 15" + would have a larger demand as most tree surgeons would have a small chipper?
  3. I'm looking into purchasing a tractor mounted chipper to go on a 130hp case tractor, mainly to offer a 'For Hire' service in and around Somerset. Firstly what do you recommend I go for and also, would anybody be interested in hiring it? The tractor has a front loader and a grab which can move and clear a lot of brash very quick. If the chipper could chip to biomass grades would that be an advantage?
  4. Thanks everyone, I think there is a scam on eBay as there was a Hakki for sale for 5k + vat then it ended and was relisted from a different location and seller was asking just 2000 without vat and said they could deliver at no cost....dodge!! Didn't seem to add up. Beware
  5. Hi, Advice needed for a second hand firewood processor... make, chain or blade etc etc... Also what sort of price for age condition etc many thanks
  6. I have a Protech P300+ and i can say it is a fantastic tool. Has a 120 degree swing round 800mm boom out and i can get to posts that no Bryce etc could ever dream of. The Bryce Sumas are probably the best made in terms of attention to detail but the quad shift just doesn't give enough flexability. I run with 250Kg weight, and that is plenty to hit in 8' gate posts etc 7-10" round. Massive weight= massive wear!
