  1. grease will stay there longer while the oil will fling off in my experience. im no chainsaw expert but i am a mechanic and engineer. i grease my needle roller in my clutch.. plus the oil will end up on the clutch friction surface and lubricate it, which you dont really want to happen. the first time i checked inside my clutch it was coated with oil form the factory, which came from the needel roller as you could see the streaks of oil leading out from the centre. chris
  2. yes, i may well do that. what do you guys think on this kit i got from amazon... £13.99 at homebase they wanted £12.99 just for the file on its own talk about rip the arse out of it chris
  3. yer it cuts and works fine so far apart from the teeth where longer on one side of the chain so it was cutting a bit wonky until i sharpened it now, where is my orange paint.... chris
  4. oh....i was told by eddy t it is a husky 235 rebranded.. it has the H mark on all the casings i have removed so far... its not a bad saw...so far so good, just a shame the bar is made from custard. chris

  7. well that was strange, the locating peg had welded itself inside its hole . i had to pry it off and it made a snapping sound as it popped out. see the photo, far end (away from the bar) of the casing where my finger is pointing, how strange:001_smile: i had better put a smear of grease around the peg before i put it back together. the bar needs flattening again but i have used the saw alot over the last few days...yes the custard bar chris
  8. ya.. thats whit im talking about... i only have one on the inside. but what is worrying me more is.. the side cover is jammed on it wont come off and the nuts are off, its jammed solid down the the corner, furthest away from the bar.. doh!! chris
  9. yes it was geeting dark.. i suppose thats how i noticed. yes, its my mccrappo saw it needs a clean so im going to have alooky yer, good point stubby and i have noticed on bigger saw's that they have bumper spikes on both sides of the bar.. but mine only has them on one side. i feel like im missing out here chris
  10. ill apologize for my futher noobie questions guys but.. i got a load of conifer logs, very big logs, about 14inch diameter, from a guy who had them in his garden. so i am slicing them up to smaller discs so i can split them up, as im cutting i see sparks flying out , i stopped cutting and looked for obvious metal nails or chain link fence, but i saw nothing, the chain does not look damaged too. is this normal? thanks.. chris
  11. hmm... heavy rain, check the door fit and the seals around the doors too, seal on the door wiring looms as well can be a problem on the corsa. good luck.. chris
  12. ahh still could be that or a split/missing gromet. have fun finding it chris
  13. check the plastics are in the right place over the pollen filter, also feel the pollen filter to see if it is damp, usually this is the leaking issue. the water runs onto the pollen filter and soaks through into the heater. chris
  14. have you checked the chainbrake mechanism for wood chips? im no expert but it sounds like it needs a cleanout if its quite new.. one of the experts will be along soon.. chris
  15. sorry spud, the measurement of the width of the bar slot and the thickness of the drive teeth please.. just out of interest..especially if it is a new saw. chris
  16. 180psi is fine, sounds like it has run very little. 210 psi is sweet, but then sometimes the smaller engines are higher compression to give good power. guys, when you have a good brand saw in for work and you have the bar and chain off, could you please measure the bar slot and chain drive teeth for me. digi calipers would be fine if you have them... thanks in advance.. chris
  17. yes of course, i realize all land is owned by someone, i just wanted to be clear on the matter, (sometimes i read these documents and it don't make much sense to me) but the tree is soo tempting when your cold. i would hate someone to steal my wood pile... i would like to get enough wood to last the winter too. thanks guys.. chris

  19. i seem to remember fiat's had the crank snapping without the conversion to solid flywheels i would say you will be fine with the conversion on your iveco as long as you dont start yanking other vehicle's out of ditches like red neck off road style. that's enough to wreck any drive train chris.
  20. firstly, sorry for my ignorance on this question but i have had mixed results trying to search for an answer. what is the law on collecting dead wood from public woods? and why would you leave dead wood lying around and not clear it away? if there was dead wood in a public woods near to me, would i get in trouble taking it, the tree looks like it has died from fungus, the trunk has snapped off at the base and it has fell to the ground. also they have left a few dead trees (just the trunk, the branches have been removed) still in the ground, why is that please. sorry if i have posted this in the wrong section, if so, moderator please move to the correct section. thanks for you time/response, chris

  23. so that is the angled part you are concerned about.. that will be ok flat, but if you are worried i can repeat the angle on the lathe, it is not a problem at all. what is the diameter of the head? chris
