  1. Hi all, as the title says im looking for the general consensus going now on echo chainsaws. Not too bothered about how they compare overall to stihl and husky, but more about how the saw handles itself as a saw and not a comparison. Good and bad points... the echo top handle has a very appealing price wiyh a 14" bar! Thanks chaps!
  2. Picked up a stihl 661 the other week, only had a weeks use so far but I'm liking it!
  3. Hi all! I wonder if anyone can point me to a thread about building a kit locker on a single cab pick up. I'm looking at obviously chopping the bed and building a unit in between that and the cab to keep all the saws and climbing/rigging kit in. Has anyone had any experience doing this? Ta

I think once I rwalise that as long as you work well and hard work is always there to be done. It's just the financial commitments of starying up/ uncertain work a month down the line and providing back home. Anyway, I've taken the advice and im clearly not the only one. appreciate it guys. The wonders of arbtalk!

  20. Hi all! I am just starting out climbing trees with gaffs. I've been practicing on an old oak that's due to come down soon. My problem is descending. I seem to be ok getting up the damn thing and then the nerves kick in on the way back down. Obviously I have practiced by just taking a few steps up and then back down, but as soon as I get to a hight where a slip would hurt, I lose my confidence in the gaffs. Is this noemal for a beginner and can you give me any tips on descending? I keep a good angle away from the tree and and keep my lanyard level while standing. when coming down with the lanyard I do the opposite action to an ascend, is this correct? I would sooner practice on a softer wood but don't have any other trees I can risk damaging. Just terrified about gaffing out. Sorry for the mass of writing! Thanks for any help in advance!
