Depending what I'm working on: 550xpg - 15" 362 C-M VW - 18" 660 - 30" 550 is so light, manoeuvrable, responsive but a bit of a screamer on the ears day in day out. Great for snedding. 362 tends to be the first choice nowadays. Light enough to to use all day, sweeter tone to it - easier on the ears. Bit grabby on full chisel and pushing chain. Goes through a bit more fuel. Often use it when rooting blown. 660 has plenty power but a bit of a guzzler on the Gogo juice! Tend to use it only on big big stuff as my arms can die a death using it all day. Difficult to bore in. Wouldn't mind a 22" on it, would be a weapon!! 😁

Hello all Looking to hire a chipper in Aberdeen for next week and wondering if anyone can help? Would need it from Mon - Wed, possibly just two days. Would need to be between 5"-7.5" and road towable. Was looking to buy one but there is a 2-3 month waiting list for the one I was looking at. I'm also looking to do the RFS Cert through Myerscough in Sept., and I've to do a pre entry assignment. I also work away from home a lot which might be a concern if I have deadlines in which to complete the various assignments. Also, I seem to be rather pants at remembering the Latin names, I've read several books which tend to do that ear to ear thing! I've also heard of numerous people dropping out of this course which makes me wonder just how difficult a course it is? Hi Gman84 Very similar symptoms for me but different saw (346xp). I found, after it was hot it goes through phases where it will idle fine, but as I pick it up and just as im away to make a cut, it cuts out on me. This of course can get rather frustrating. It's not too bad for starting again but can need quite a few pulls at times and a bit of a mess about with the choke on occasion too. Also, it can feel like its away to cut out when operating the saw which can make you keep your finger hovering over the trigger and that ain't exactly ideal. That's exactly why I got a 660 (and because of a big cheesy grin and the words "oh yeah!" Running through my head) :-) I also found the 084 nose heavy with a 36" bar, plus a 30" can do alot of tree before you'd need a bigger bar. It's gonna be handy having the 36" as a spare as well. As for all that electronic gubbins.... I could well be wrong but am sure thats just to make sure we have to conform to the makers (just like with newer cars, you have to take them to a garage as you need to plug it in to a computer and used specific tools etc) Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app

Hi Pete, I have been pondering over the idea of a dual port exhaust and give it a bit of "axe men" style and ive seen plenty of chatting about modifications to their saws but it does make me wonder just how good that can be for them, although I don't have enough personal knowledge as ive never modified any of my saws in ten years. Hi Jamesd, I find the 660 well balanced with a 30" bar, it cuts well and if you need to dig in the dogs and give it a bit of oomph it manages no problem. Yeah ive not missed the heated handles, (if your working hard enough you shouldn't need them haha!) I find a good pair of gloves helps with any vibration anyway. I also agree with your philosophy about the heated handles and liken it to the idea of electric windows (its just something else that can go wrong) :-) Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app

Hi Hotrod, I've never used Angus chainsaws before, in fact I didnt even know about them. I will have a look see though, now that I know about them. Chainsaw Bob, and Pete up in Huntly are good guys though, very thorough and informative, every time I go into their shop I seem to get the "Shiny kit bug" and spend too much money haha! Hi Jon, I hear alot about porting the saws on here and it does make me wonder just how much difference it makes to them? Is it good for them or do parts wear out quicker etc? Guess that's questions for another thread... I thought to myself that I would have to make a point of getting a 660 before they stopped making them seeing that they have been tried and tested and im glad I did, however by the time im looking to replace the 660 with a 661 (or whatever it will be called by then) it'll have had all its little niggles ironed out and will have gained the reputation that it should deserve by then, so there should be no probs with all that tech they put in saws nowadays :-) Sent from my GT-I8190N using Arbtalk mobile app

Hi Jon, yeah I wish id remembered to ask for heated handles... im sure it'll be fine without them. Ive used plenty 660's before and they always give me an ear to ear grin when they go "like a hot knife through butter" :-D It's gotta be my favourite saw! Haha... yeah and it took them 4 months to get it to me!!! In my wisdom I thought id order local in case it did break down but after waiting a month I really wanted to cancel and reorder from chainsaw bob in Huntly instead... a comitment is a comitment though so I bit the bullet and waited. I bought a 660 (30"bar) earlier this year and I have to say it really is the dogs doodas! Just munches its way through anything you throw at it... wanting more. I made sure I got one before they went out of production as they have been tried and tested. I'm sure the 661 will also be a good saw but it's not been field tested like the 660 so, even though there might be less vibrations etc I, personally, have chosen to spend my hard earned money on a "battle hardened wood monster" haha. I got an email from world of power yesterday saying that they had challeged it and that they are offering a 5% discount for 12 months as a loyalty thing. I wasn't sure if it was genuine and looked on Stihls' uk site and couldn't find any info to support it so I dismissed it

If the problem persists I'll have a moan at option's or doc's and see what they say. So far ive been to A&E, Doctor, Hospital and Optitions twice. Fairly sure they prescribed that "chlorophenical (sp)" at least one of those times. Bit zingy when you put it in your eye!! :eek:

It's interesting to read the symptoms you had as ive been having very similar problems with my eyes for the last few months. They go through phases where im rudely awakened by a severe, sharp pain in my eye and I really have to concentrate to sort it out, very sensitive to light and vision is fuzzy for another couple days. Optition says I must be doing it at work as i couldn't scratch it that badly in my sleep but its happening in the middle of the night. I thought sleep must have been getting under my eyelid which then kept scratching my eye again and again. Now im wondering if it's a scar tissue problem.
