  1. Wow some sensitive people on here, was meant to be abit of a joke........ I personally don't use steel flip lines, haven't for 10 years. Every1 has different ways/techniques. I'm not saying mine is better. If I slipped I'd be confident that I wouldnt cut through my flip line, never mind my main line which would be a safe distance below. Chill out people. I have a lot of respect for the people in my profession. Thought arborist could take a joke too..........
  2. Meindl specialise in walking boots etc... Oregon are good for files/chains. They might be £60 pound more but you get wot you pay for. Each to their own tho.
  3. Not bad mate u? Just recently got on this arb talk malarkey. There's some pissing Terry's on here!
  4. Never used a steel core, if you are thick enough to cut through your strop, and it not be backed up with a second line, then you should fall to your death....... Sorry for being so dark.
  5. Wot about wen some bast shakes them Dave?
  6. Meindl are a good choice, I have quite a few different makes and styles off boots and wouldn't get anything apart from meindl now.
  7. No chainsaw has a separate fuel pump
  8. Your probably flooding it, and an uplift pump? Wot engines in it a Cummings? Haha
  9. It's a thin is no a reduction. Looks abit lion tailed. Should of left abit more green in the center of the crown. So there was even green throughout. Reducing trees is a pain in the ass, I hate doing it!
  10. Can get little botex trailers to go on back of a quad, the equipment you use depends on price of the job, I've done quite a few site clearances, the best thing to use is a 9 or 13t digger with a grab on it. Then stack it all out the front and chip, could use the digger to feed chipper....
  11. Infact ill dig some pink ribbon out..... We will get navy seals to close the roads off and we will get a helliloggin team out. Or falling that get a John deer feller buncher in......
  12. We would have it down for dinner eh mozza. Give the tree owner a load of bumph about the fungi, slap a grand on it. I wouldn't be concerned for two mins about climbing that tree, in the 10 YEARS I've been climbing this tree looks relatively safe compared to some I've section felled... and piss easy to dismantle too!
  13. I second that, crane/ road closure is major overkill, and major cost! Not even a big tree...... And looks piss easy to dismantle.
  14. Tell that to the tight ass guy I was working for haha
  15. There wouldn't be much control with the fell though due to the rot, and you would still have to scale the tree to get a pull rope in. Beeches are generally snappy when in full health. Get up the bugger!
  16. Lets be honest tho, it's not a large tree is it. To get a crane in would be quite an expense, and by the looks of the pic would need traffic management to safely situate the crane...... I've been involved in crane jobs, your right the trees do come down in no time, but there's not much of an area to store the logs and brash so the clean up will still take a while..... And it's not a tricky take down at all...... So which ever way you look at it there won't be much change out of a day.... That's just my opinion
  17. I hate them, I had to tip tie all of the crown on the two pictures, up and down constantly for two days!
  18. If you cut yourself with a chains saw and don't have the relevant tickets, don't expect the insurance to cover you, simple.
  19. Easy, unclip the main line from your anchor point, wrap it around the main stem and tighten it up (below the flip line). Mace your hips inline with the flip line, and have your legs straight. No need for all this shiny new expensive fancy crap....old school rules!!
  20. Had to completely dismantle two very tall/old pops, there was 20 phone lines underneath, and was situated 8ft away from a gable end. Safe to say I was happy when the spikes came off!
