  1. 👍👍 life is easy with ART rope guide
  2. I had the bungee as well a purple/burgundy colour. Mine was stolen anyone remember what its called tried to find it again but no luck.
  3. Thanks guys, sounds like a buy then. I have a relative heading to the states soon so will add it to the list
  4. Has anyone used one of these yet? If so is it any good? [ame] [/ame]
  5. I do Fine was a bad idea then just thought many would have similar view and something positive would result
  6. Im not saying to BAN Chainsaws from everyone. I am trying to find a way in which foresters and arborists trade can be secured. For example you have the certificates you need to do your job (currently not really needed unless something goes wrong for insurance and hse) and you do a course with the ISA or another organisation and passing that you can then join the organisation (dont know what it could be yet) and then that organisation will educate the public leading to you being called to quote for a tree where the Gardner down the road can not quote 100. Etc I am not saying it should just only be based off certs but also experience hence ISA course or another equivalent. And no I dont want to be a politician! Simply just want to get the arb trade out of the rut its in with the public wanting tree work done as cheaply as possible.
  7. Yh but when they steal it it cant be used much as parts and consumables will be out of reach, also if you see someone trying to sell a big saw its guaranteed to possibly be stolen for example. It will take a lot of planning and blah blah to get done but im sure if enough of us got together maybe something can be done?
  8. Then he can only use small home owner saws, limiting what can be done with it (possibly make it so the public can only operate 12" saws with a chainsaw licence)? That way they cant take on anything that requires a qualified tree surgeon ( they can to a certain point but it will not be worth their while cutting with a small saw all the time)
  9. I know this will not be popular for the chainsaw manufacturers but there should be an enforced law so that when you want to buy a chainsaw you have to show valid chainsaw licence for the public to buy small saws like ms181. And to buy professional chainsaws you have to have chainsaw, felling, climbing and aerial tree cutting to buy pro chainsaws. And to buy chains and parts etc you need to show these licences (very easy once the shop knows you) this way cowboys cant buy big/pro saws or arb gear also when kit gets stolen the mugs cant buy chains or spares as they wont have quals. That way when everyone has quals there hopefully wont be so many cowboys? And the trade standard will rise. Either this or a full on government body to ensure that tree care is set to a high standard maybe the way forward is ISA certs and the government + ISA make a big effort to promote that the public should only use ISA and government approved tree surgeon firms minimising cowboys and raising the value of arboriculture and also help improve the tree quality around places as they will be managed properly. I may not have said all this the right way but the point is to eliminate cowboys and promote professionalism in the trade. What are you views and how to get this solved?
  10. highly recommended we bought ours from the US far cheaper as two sets out there are the same price as one over here they fit any helmet and very easy to fit to your helmet, very robust and don't get in the way when climbing or chipping
  11. hahaha would love to see a clients face when you pull up for a big days work in this
  12. B****rds, sorry to hear the loss, i will spread the word around berkshire and wycombe hope you get a result with the police
  13. Trust get my vote excellent firm highly recommended talk to them first before anyone else
  14. Can you use a winch and backward leaning cuts to get them in space? Or have a pull line setup through a pulley to match a 2:1 fiddle block type system and fell them into space? Alternatively spend first day dismantling all the ones your worried about and then tackle the ones that seem easier with less targets to hit? Or can you get a cherry picker in to help with dismantling?
  15. Its a sad one really as it just lowers the quality of tree surgery. I educate upon site visits to let client know what to expect with regards to their trees or hedges and let them decide ad they then know what to look out for if someone if doing the job wrong i.e butchering the tree or hedge If only hot air balloons could actually lift several tons. Maybe you can look to design one
  16. The giant lollipop is there in the tree Ill take your offer you can fell it and I give you a purple lollipop lol
  17. Its a funny one really makes you think how others can run a lot cheaper outfits It would be interesting to watch how others who quote significantly lower would do the job and what standard they would operate at. If an air ballon could actually manage to dismantle a tree I would buy one in a heart beat i was thinking once when working with conifers near an RAF base to ask them if they would like to do a bit of training with their chinooks and lift the conifers out in one and fly them away lol
  18. Hahahaha i wish, would be awesome if that could work though
  19. I am looking at 1day getting the tree down and chipped and half the second day shifting whats left of the logs and making the site nice and tidy. I was thinking more in the realms of £970. I know its not alot of difference but it made me think i might be to highly priced or that the £750 i know 750 is not cheap and it can be done on that and im not saying i wouldnt do it for that. but what baffled me and i might be wrong is that why would the client say to me the price of 750 before me sending my quote. I am going to ask tomorrow and see Not so much on the chip side but firewood helps tick over in the winter months when things start to slow down.
  20. Found a satellite picture which shows the area but not so much the tree although you can see the canopy size roughly.
  21. Sorry for got to mention theres not really enough room to be felled as one the crown needs to be removed as it will hit the outbuilding
  22. Just received an email from a client stating that they have received a price of £750 to fell their sycamore (they havent said by who). I have viewed it but not yet had time to send a price and i find that £750 maybe a made up figure from the client? Details about the job (sorry dont have pictures always forget) They have a Mature sycamore with a good size canopy. Access to the tree is a field but the tree needs to be rigged as one half is over a neighbouring cemetery and the other very close to some outbuildings with a paddock fence below the tree. Fairly straight forward dismantling the crown and not so far to drag and chip. Removing all the waste from site. Im not asking for prices or help with pricing. My question is what is your opinion to the above price? I think its slightly on the cheaper side for the amount of work required?
  23. Just seen my first Sycamore with this disease. The tree is completely dead and amongst a row of other sycamores which have bark peeling but no visible signs of the disease. My questions is: how easy is it for this disease to spread? It says to wear masks and burn the diseased wood. But cutting with a saw will surely spread the spores wont it? What are your thoughts?
  24. Growing and giving us a place to work everyday
