  1. He's still got all his bits. All I know is both parents are KC registered pedigrees. Dads a working dog and his mum is a family pet.

  3. His mum is a family pet and his dad is a working dog with drakes head bloodline I was told. He has an unwavering will to fetch anything, he lives for sticks, tennis balls and food.
  4. I can sympathise. I don't see the appeal in rolling in fox crap myself but the dog loves it!
  5. I don't think it's ever been a case of doing this type of work on a healthy tree. It's normally reserved for dysfunctional trees that have become a danger in their current condition to their surroundings and is a viable alternative to removing a tree completely. Essentially make it safer and maintain habitat.

    I keep all mine just in case. But seeing as it's only the most recent inspection that is valid (assuming it's still in date) I don't suppose it matters?
  7. I'm looking for a climber to do 2 days next week on the Wirral. The job is to reduce 2 poplars in height and reduce the longer lateral branches following the TPO guidelines. I'm was doing the climbing myself but I'm suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome and I'm currently unable to climb.   8. Don't hold me to this but I think they're only recommend up to a 24inch bar. The saw plenty powerful enough to take the 28 but you may need to change the oil pump for the bar?
  9. I'm suffering from carpal tunnel at the moment. If it's carpal tunnel it's usually the middle 2 fingers on the effected hand that go numb first/the most. I lost the feeling in my right hand and fore arm last week for 7 hours. Sleeping with wrist splints on helps a lot. I'd definitely advise going to see your doctor. I'm just waiting for my op now.
  10. From a personal point of view I'd book a days training and your test for the next day. No matter how good anybody thinks they are, we all pick up bad habits. The instructor will iron these out and get your mind back into passing a test. You also don't have to worry about your vehicle and trailer being up to scratch and meeting the requirements as its all provided. As for the manoeuvre, that's the easy bit. Everyone I've known to fail has done so on the general driving around part. It's harder than you think to be in the correct lane all the time and keeping to the speed limit is probably the hardest thing.

  12. I use wheel clamps and hitch locks made by bulldog. Very well built. Not cheap but worth paying out for.
  13. Hi guys, after being made redundant I took the leap and have set up my own business. I am now looking to increase my work load. I have several companies that I'm doing subcontract work for and an increasing private work load but currently if I'm honest it's slow going and I want to get myself out there. I'm based in Northwich, Cheshire. I have a good set up. Transit tipper, road tow chipper, climbing kit, saws etc. I'm a fully legitimate, insured company. I'm a hard worker with a good skill set.   14. ?????? Nobody mentioned climbing on a well worn friction hitch. I certainly wouldn't risk my own life. The object of the post it to create a legitimate traceable item for the purpose of a LOLER inspection. I know my own kit very well. it's making your kit identifiable to somebody else (the inspector) that's the point of my post.
  15. I've gone down the ID number and date into service route. It was a pain to start with buying our own kit for the obvious financial outlay but to be honest it works for us because we can do what we want with it as it our kit. it's always good to have your kit because you can do your own jobs as well as theirs. If I decide to leave and become a subby I have my own gear/saws ready to go. they provide all our PPE, other tools such as pole saws and rigging kits etc. they LOLER our kit too. And to be honest some of the people I work with don't respect their own kit so expecting them to look after works kit is a no go.
  16. You're right on the 6 month thing for new kit. But my company is anal and everything has to be LOLER'd from new. The problem is I can't prove the cords age as I don't know it. I bought it new in July but there's no saying it wasn't sat in a stock room for 3 years or whatever.
  17. Hi guys, Hopefully some one can shed some light on this for me so here goes. I've started tying my own friction eye to eyes to use with my hitchclimber setup to cut down on costs. I've had my kit LOLER'd today but they failed my cords because they had no ID info on them which is fair enough, I expected that. the problem is I've come to mark them up at home but the only info I have on the friction cord I have was the date I bought (29/07/2014) I have no batch numbers or date of manufacture for the cord which is going to make marking them up with any valid info a no go. would the purchase date and an individual marker no be enough ie: 29/07/2014CP1? I'm thinking as friction cords have a short life span anyway hopefully this would be enough. I can also carry the invoice for the cord as proof of purchase date. Thanks in advance, Chris.
  18. If you take it the average door height is around 6 and a half feet, I'd guess the tree to be between 80 and 85 feet. 24-25 metres max.
  19. Hiya guys, Basically as of the 16th of September I will be out of a job. I start my CS38 and 39 tomorrow which will make me of more use. I therefore am looking for any kind of work. I appreciate that climbing wise I will be of little use to anybody straight away but if it means learning the trade and paying my mortgage I am willing to drag brash, chop firewood, make the tea! I will take whatever work I can, be it a the odd day here or there. I'm not stupid I know its going to be hard work but I'm mad keen to learn and make a career in the industry.
  20. Finding this thread really interesting and comforting. I've got my CS38 in 4 weeks and don't really know how i'll cope with the height. I've got some climbing gear due to be delivered tomorrow so i'll be finding out this weekend! (and i'll be climbing with an experienced climber, not on my own)
  21. My CS38 and CS39 are booked for the first 2 weeks in September.
  22. Fingers crossed, I now have my CS38 and CS39 booked. And hopefully my chipper ticket in the very near future:thumbup1:
  23. Bit to much of a commute form Northwich that Mike. Can't imagine it would be cost effective.
