    Love it.

Whats with these big air filters? and covers? Not that I want to pimp my saw or anything. Got another dawg coming for mine but might get some use out of it before I start to mess about too much.
  2. Big Ben

    Love it.

Mine seems to fire up a lot better without the decomp pressed in, but wonder what that is doing to the starter.

    Love it.

Picked up my new husky 372 xp x-torq the other day, been using a stihl ms340 for a while. But this new one is just something else. Came with an 18" bar which will do for now. Had a bit of a problem starting it and didn't really want to touch the carb until I'd used it for a bit. Anyway seems I have the knack of getting it going now, now waiting for my next job to put it to good use. It was through reading on here that I convinced myself it is a good saw, so far so good. Time will tell.
  4. Those caterpillars are nasty little buggers, local trick is to knock the nest down and burn it. Also have one of those sucker things too. Not needed it yet though. I think by far the most dangerous thing in France are the Sans Permis drivers, I'd deal with any snake rather than be in the line of fire of a little Axiom.
  5. I try to keep the voices at bay. As for Hornets! They are always about, don't know if they are the Asian ones though. And did come across a nesting pigeon the other week. Clearing some Wysteria so the owners could close their shutters and this bloody great thing flew out of the Wysteria and started to make a fuss. So just cut enough for them to close up.
  6. Busy minding my own business yesterday, cutting back some conifer and this thing started flying round. Thought it was a dragon fly to start with but it landed on my glove and although its not a great picture you can tell its a preying mantis. Weird things! I didn't know they could fly
  7. I was looking at something like this John Deere 1445 out front ride on tractor mower year 2002 4WD 62" cut | eBay I could do with a bigger cut, but as I just bought a new chipper the ride on mower will have to do for a bit longer.
  8. A mate of mine works for Footloose 4X4 and I have dealt with them quite a bit in the past, really great bunch of blokes down there who know there stuff. They had some UN spec Landcruisers in last time I was there, just bog standard motors that didn't look like they had ram raided halfords. Wouldn't mind one myself but think registering one in France would be a pain in the derrière.
  9. Can't watch it, says this video is private.
  10. It might just be me and thinking old fashioned, but I always like to see a landline telephone number somewhere. but it looks great.
  11. This is where I got mine. Wallenstein UK Forestry Equipment Popped back to the UK to get it, and filled the car with her tesco shopping at the same time.
  12. Quite fortunate out here in rural France that there doesn't seem to be the garden gate and properties with gates have them van sized. Not yet had a problem getting my van close to a job. I bought the ex demo which had just over half an hour on the clock, paid £3,750 for it. Thought it was a good price, it might as well be new as it hasn't done any work and think it will do just what I want. Its not a name you see that much when it comes to chippers, but its very well built/strong and with great customer service.
  13. What size chipper qualifies for the wee chipper club? Just bought a new one and as its not very big thought I'd pop it on here. Its a Wallenstein BXT 4213 with Honda engine, says it'll do up to 4inch. Be very surprised if I ever chip anything that big(firewood). Really impressed with it, road towable and fantastic build quality. And the help I got from Andrew at Wallenstein UK was superb.
  14. Have you tried this lot, they are super helpful when ever I need any parts. Genuine Briggs and Stratton Parts UK Ireland Europe - Online dealer shop
  15. Got a Husqvarna T425 which has worked very well for the last four years without any problems at all. A Husky 136, a Stihl MS340 still going strong after Ten years hard work and starts first time everytime. A rebuilt Jonsered 2036turbo, only because I rebuilt it for someone and they didn't want it back. Just sold the 12kg Solo 635 and very soon to be picking up a new 372xp.
  16. So I was told by the guys who took my dads douglas firs(420) that the only permission they needed was from the mairie was for access to the rear of the land using the dirt tracks. But as with everything in France things can vary quite a bit form one department to another.

    Husky 365

I know what you mean about prices in France, they can be pretty steep. I just put in for a new 372xp the rrp for it is just over €1000. Told him I am Professional with a siret number and they knocked €300 off, so thats always worth knowing when buying stuff. Going to see if they will do the same for a new mower.
  18. For anyone who likes a bit of music and happens to be around London on the 21st August, we are making our way over to the UK on a mini tour. Dublin Castle, Camden on the 21st The Chequers, Bedford on the 23rd The Plugged Inn, Sunderland on the 24th You should be able to hear some of our songs on here https://soundcloud.com/homecooked-records-fr We are 'The Shadelovers' and the other band 'Data Planet System' will also be coming with us. Its going to be a good laugh for a week.....and then back to work.
  19. I have just been through a load of cheap brushcutters, and yes you get what you pay for but you have to start somewhere. The last one was an MTD 4 stroke biggest heap going, never again. I couldn't quite stretch to a new stihl or husqvarna(pretty expensive out here) so just got an Oleo Mac BC430T. Its amazing, I can use it all day and not know I have been. As they always say though buy the most expensive and it will be the cheapest in the long run.
  20. The Fender (aka Bravewood P) wins every time.
  21. Not sure on the year, and have posted it on here before. Gave the points a clean and adjust, fresh fuel in it and it goes first pull every time. I don't use it much at all and do not intend on doing so. It weighs just under 12kg and vibrates so much its not even funny.
  22. I would have felled it, but that's only because I'm not into climbing. Good job though.
  23. The big ones were cut to 14metres and going for carpentry, anything with too many side branches will go mainly for chipboard and pallet making. Dad kept the decent stuff for their own use and have left some of the oaks, birches in certain places as they intend to recreate a bit of a park with forest round the edges. Will be nice when its done. Just a right mess at the moment.
  24. I think he said about €1200 a hectare, will let him know about the change of use. If it is 2.5 and over I would think he might re plant half a hectare or so. They originally wanted to just put the waste in two long lines 14 metres apart, got them to push it all to the boundry just the same as other neighbouring land has had done.
  25. Luckily they got the last load off a couple of days ago, so just beat the wet stuff.
