  1. No, the 08 is very similar to the contra/070/090 muffler Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  2. No worries, tbh those cylinders, once worn in are easy to get the line of where you can port to though, as the skirts dull the cylinder but the lower transfers are shiny. I know the ipl also lists 2 different base gaskets for that saw, so the piston may have to be turned down to use liquid seal, or get a thinner gasket Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Yes that's fine, you'd need to whip the vane off to get more tension for higher rpm. Pity that's a normal contra, not a super, although that's a non-OEM muffler on it, well it may have been OEM for an 075 once... Have you tried the contra against the 3120? Was it the whole flywheel that was loose? Or just the starter cup? And I thought you'd done an 070? It's the same saw effectively, minus a decompression valve and half decent air filter Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Open the piston windows nice and wide, open the intake up - you can really open it as the piston rings don't go down there, widen the lower transfers and smooth the step out and finally, widen the exhaust but you'll have to raise the roof of the exhaust slightly. Fit a dual port muffler (or make one) or it'll overheat and you'll go through pistons like mad! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  5. I'd rather fix stihl 1106 saws than 200t's, everything is big, simple and basic... Apart from the oil pump, that's as complex and fiddly as hell! Points ignition is easy once you know how! You shouldn't have to lock the vane to get 7k rpm though, sounds like you need to tension the spring, it should rev to 11k rpm locked off Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  6. Come off it goaty, it sounds like a side prune, it'll look poor in comparison to a proper reduction, we don't get paid extra for the rest of the tree, just clearance! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  7. [quote name=aesmith;1102946 That's not live 66kV I assume? Or are you allowed to fell closer than you can prune? Thanks again' date=' Tony S[/quote] That is live working, you have to be further away to fell, eg, a tree 20m tall has to be 40.1m from the line, but a dismantle can be closer Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  8. Yes, the wind vane is an odd thing, mine locked off at around 8k rpm, the carburettor choke gets moved at higher, and can actually shut the saw off if you hold it on wot for too long Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  9. Photos! I would be interested in seeing a few photos of the contra, such as the starter, cylinder and muffler. And be careful with the rpm, the saw will quite happily run at 10krpm, but the big end comes apart Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  10. You are aware at that size it weighs a hefty 30+kg just for the saw and you'll have to hammer the manual pump in harder wood! All that aside, make sure you tune the saw for the bar, it's as sluggish as hell if it's not tuned properly, but tuned right, you can really push it through the cut! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  11. I'm sorry Barrie, but I have to disagree here, what sds is doing is entrapment, it's a downright dirty tactic, but it's also a double edged blade, if he causes a company to loose it's dealership, that's one less ally for the stihl market. The uk parts supply from stihl is appalling at best, let alone the dealer network, you start removing dealers and the system becomes more fragile. And if what TCD mentioned is true, those empty shelves would soon be filled with another German brand much more receptive to computers. Stihl should tread lightly at the moment or they may find they loose the professional market completely, a lot of arbs have already switched to the swedes, if they make it impossible for a cutter to buy equipment online and either that person can't get to or will not go to the local dealer then they can rapidly loose any foothold they have. 12. We're based in staffordshire, very close to Birmingham. Require ua2.2, chipper, cs30/31/38 minimum ideally. And experience is also ideal Call Jonathan Tonks on 07917675526 Or the main office on 01543480509 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Yeah, they probably get more back than we get paid too! Also remember that if the tree is being dismantled, work can be carried out by an untrained (in utilities) arb if it's 9m or greater from 66kv or below, so the likelihood is the tree is in or has a high potential to breach the vicinity of the conductors. As for shutdowns, they're a nightmare for us to get, let alone joe public! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. The length of a tree, top to floor, height in other words Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  15. Yes, let them do it, they get paid for it at no cost to you, where as if you do it, it costs you and the tree team don't get paid Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  16. Which one? The first pic is the original type bar, bare metal with the stihl log logo, the other is a newer west Germany bar, both are still good Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  17. Mount pattern looks identical to my stihl bar So it's either 090g or 051/076 That's the one off my 090 Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  18. In terms of dolmar, I doubt, Makita were too busy removing proper dealerships and focusing on the screwfix special market, echo I think were back-benched, but have become more popular over the past few years, efco is another you hear little of, but then one turns up Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  19. TCD, there are few echo dealers, and even fewer mak-dolmar dealers in the uk, so the general consensus will be husky by sheer volume of dealers, so for many, husky IS the only alternative, as that's what's available. My local dealer has a few echo machines in, but I've yet to see a pro saw Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  20. Both manufactures watch the forum, neither contributes, but I would imagine husky are watching these type threads pretty smugly! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  21. Yeah, but hmrc rape your wallet when it arrives in the uk Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  22. It appears to be quite an old wound, I'm gonna say squirrel damage, being as the wound is elevated and it looks like there is an agricultural type stock fence on the right side of the picture Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  23. Not over here you can't, before I ordered mine from America I emailed head office, there were no records of that part in Europe. But it's an option for both the 562 and the j'red 2260 over there Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  24. And yet America are the only ones who get the wrap handles. Everything but the clutch cover and outer dawgs are interchangeable though Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  25. Mate, I don't understand why you've joined this forum, I can understand you wanting loyal customers, but let's say I'd been contracted to work around the area your dealership is in and one of my saws were down, would you stick it at the very back of the queue because I hadn't purchased it from you initially? If so, that's pretty poor and will give you a poor rep. Secondly, in the time you've been a member on here, you've made one useful contribution, one irrelevant post and the rest have been stirring this seething mess called the stihl policy. Do you really think as a business plan it's wise to piss off this many professionals and/or dealers? Just remember, everything is traceable... Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
