Easy access. Will gladly accept any amount of chip, and/or hard or softwood logs. There'll be a brew on offer if you've got time, or some free range eggs

    Rats!!!!!

I have both a .410 and a 9mm. If it's just for dispatching rats in a trap then the 9mm will be ideal - they put out about 100ftlb at the muzzle and are no louder than an unmoderated air rifle. But they're next to useless at anything above 10 yards. A .410 is a better option if you're wanting something with more clout - but obviously they're a lot louder. Ammo for the .410 is half the price of the 9mm as well.
  3. Your PM box is full mate - can you send me a contact number please?
  4. Until recently I was buying Arb waste from a local firm for firewood (for my own use, not to sell on). The guy has now started processing into logs so isn't able to supply any more to me. Is there anyone on here who could supply me with around 4 to 6 tons each year? Hardwood preferred but anything considered. Fair price paid, I'm not expecting freebies. I'm in Glossop (SK13) which is 10 miles east of Manchester. Access is no problem, logs can be tipped directly. Please PM if you can help. Thanks
  5. I'm in Glossop, on the outskirts of Manchester, about 15 miles out from the city centre to the East. Chip and or logs welcome here anytime, good access. Pm me if interested?
  6. The 9mm cartridges are not far off twice the price of a .410 cartridge. And if you're hoping to have any impact on anything that's more than 5-10 yards away then think again, they're seriously underpowered at anything further than that range. They do have their uses (I've used mine to get rid of wasps nests up in the loft!) but the .410 is a much better calibre.
  7. I'm looking for a supplier of waney edged boards to clad a field shelter I'm building. Ideally want Larch, Sweet Chestnut or Oak, approx. 1 inch thick. I need to cover an area of about 35m2 Does anyone know of a supplier that is based in (or will deliver to) North-West England? Thanks.
  8. I'm about 10 miles away if that's any good? SK13 postcode
  9. I'm in East Manchester, both chip and logs are welcome here, any amount any time
  10. Might sound unlikely, but try your local B&Q, just after xmas I picked up 17 3ft tall Norway Spruce that they were selling off for £0.01 each! They're proper pot grown trees too, with fully developed roots, not just ripped out of the ground and stuffed in a pot. They also had some Nordman Fir for the same price, but they were 'potted' and not pot grown, so unlikely to survive.
  11. Used about 2m3 so far, got a Morso Badger burning every night, and an ABX range stove in the other room which is lit 2 or 3 times a week to dry washing or cook the odd roast dinner. Burning a hardwood mix, Sycamore, Ash, Cherry, Horse Chestnut and Alder. Got another 8 to 10m3 stacked up ready to burn, won't be going cold this winter!
  12. Yeah you'll get a National Insurance bill every 3 months for £31.20, or you can set up a Direct Debit instead if you want. You'll also get a letter reminding you when it's tax return time. Tax in the first few years of self employment is a bit erratic depending on your turnover. I paid very little in the first two years, then got a big bill, and now it's settled into a more predictable bill. An accountant will explain it far better than me, but it's definitely worth finding one early on. It won't cost a fortune either if you're a sole trader. Best of luck in your new venture!
  13. Put aside 20% of everything you earn, keep every receipt, and find yourself a good accountant. You'll probably get some of that 20% back when it's time to submit a tax return, but it's better to have it saved away, rather than having to suddenly find it of you aint got it!
  14. I'll gladly take it. I'm about 10 minutes away from Romiley. I'll PM my contact details
  15. Whereabouts in Derbyshire are you Jim? I'm in Glossop, you're welcome to tip chip and/or logs on my field. Send me a PM if you want to get in touch? Cheers Mark
  16. No problem Rob. If you're ever working near me (east Manchester area) and have chip or logs to offload please feel free to give me a shout. Cheers, Mark

  17. Hi Rob, I'd gladly take those logs off you from your job in Bury/Prestwich, but I can't collect and am about 15 miles away so might be too far? I'd pass some beer tokens your way for your trouble of course, but appreciate you'll probably get an offer of someone closer so no worries, but it's there if nothing else comes up. Cheers, Mark

  18. Hi all, I'm after some woodchip for mulching a recently planted hedge (500 beech trees, planted over approx 250 metres) I appreciate that I can't expect something for nothing so if you have any chip to get rid of, then within reason, I'd also be happy to accept stumps, rootballs, or any other dirty big lumps of conifer or poplar that are of no use for logging up. We have a big bonfire on the 5th November so it'll add to the pile! I'm in Glossop, Derbyshire, SK13. There's gated access onto the field so you could drive straight on and tip. Please contact me via PM or email if you have anything Cheers Mark
