Cc or hp

I have been asking various people who i consider to be my superiors this question and i am struggling to get a sensible answer! I am not a mechanically minded person so this sort of thing is out of my comfort zone. when buying a saw and you have 2 competitors so closely matched one has a slightly higher cc but the other has slightly higher horsepower, what are the advantages to both. I suppose what i am asking is what is hp and what is cc at the end of the day, please don't laugh at my ignorance

will have a think about what i want to do and let you know, going to give the saw a good run first and see what i think to it before i start spending on it, but thanks for the quote. tom

5. Hi all looking to invest in a pole /long reach hedge trimmer, which camp should i be looking in? I have used a stihl one but never the husky, and i find the stihl one to be very good to cut with and robust, but a pig to start and the vibrations are horrific, and they seem like the pole saws to be awkward when it comes to fuelling, awkward to remove the cap the have a tenancy to cockle over when you depress the fuel can in to them?!?!? so any suggestions please:thumbup:
6. first question where are you? then how much do you want cause it sounds like it is what i am after can you put me some pics up please?
7. lol you guys make me laugh i have already done the thread about whether to get a landy or not and i have decided to so now what i want is info on people who do the conversions! for those saying about the weight of chip i can "legally" carry, now i am ready to be proven completely wrong on this but the difference in weight between a landy transit l200 iveco isuzu tippers all rated to 3.5t is minimal, by the time each of those trucks is rigged up ready to use in the manor i require they are all going to weigh just over 2t! or have i got it massively wrong, i do profess to knowing nothing about this so tell me all
8. i am going to be getting a landy 110 to convert to a tipping truck, do any of you guys know anyone near lincolnshire what does conversions? the plan... extend chassis to 130 tool storage behind cab then tipper put the hi cap springs on it to increase the gross v.weight and put a box for storage over cab. bring on the fun:thumbup:
9. already checked and then changed the starter coil and now its sparking like a good one, had the exhaust off and checked the piston too and its all nice and shiny through there too so i think i'll try a new carb see if that changes things! thanks guys love the experience and knowledge this forum brings to idiots like me:wink:
10. it only does it once it gets hot, after about 5 mins of use

395xp

oh yeah that is such a sweet sound
12. i am interested to hear about the outcome of this as i have a 346xpg and it does the same, cuts out inbetween cuts unless you keep reving it and mine isn't autotune so i dialed up the idle speed and it still does it! just wondering do you then struggle to strike your saw up till it has cooled down?
13. Tom Hall

395xp

i have one on a 36" 3/8 chain and its an absolute belter i love it strikes up first pull everytime and it chews through wood like a pirana through flesh. its more comfortable than the stihl equal and smoother imo
14.
george is this you? its tom who you worked with for castle tree care out at eastville on thursday

15. now that is what i am talking about really good answer thanks, a non bias answer with good helpful comments. i will get sketching some designs and start looking for the right truck:thumbup:
16. if you read the first page you would see i have a 441, i want a 60cc small saw what is light hence ms362 or 560xpg
17. my budget is £10000 max, only been up and running a year and the out lay for climbing gear rigging gear saws training ppe and insurance has left me not exactly flush as i am trying to do it with out taking out massive loans, i have been hiring a truck but starting to get more and more private jobs (as opposed to sub contracting) so it is more beneficial to have my own now. it had been suggested to me by someone who works for landrover that i might be best getting a 110 and converting it myself, apparently there is a company in wales which do excellent conversions to your exact spec, dragon conversions or something like that i think? and they are meant to be very reasonable.
18. Hi all i am looking to get a new ground saw to run a 15" bar, i have a husky 346xpg and when it is running right it is a lovely saw to work with, i have very big hands and for me it is easier to use than a stihl as husky rear handles are bigger stihl ones are very thin! so what i want is a saw with more grunt for felling hard woods but is still nice weight for snedding up with, i'm not looking for 441 suggestions as i have one which i run a 20" bar on. looking at the options it has to be either a 560xpg or a 362vw any opinions welcome
19. hi guys thanks for all the info you have all posed the same question do i want or need one? A year ago i would just of said want, and been very happy just to get a transit, but since then i have discovered the the transit is hopeless on anything less than tarmac, they have no guts, get towing anything and your power is all gone! i work in lincolnshire so it is crap roads and fields and the amount of times we have said we would be better with a 4x4. is there a more viable 4x4 alternative to a defender that will still have a min of a 3 tonne towing capacity?
20. Hi guys and gals i have been thinking about getting a defender tipper, can anyone tell me the pros and cons, what capacity for chip they have, where to get them from, are they suitable as bought or is there any special modifications i should make? looking at either 110 or 130 single cab, box for saws and climbing gear and other tools then as big a box as poss for chip. any advice or suggestions welcome
21. mechanical grabs should always be attached using a short dyneema eye 2 eye for this very reason, this is the first thing you should check if you are working with another climber and you are supplying the Ariel rescue that there is means to cut the flip line away. if they don't have this don't let them climb it is compulsory!!!
22. ha ha ha ah ah ahha ha ha ha ha yeah like that will ever happen, it is my experience that no body does that, no body ever has the balls to say look i made a mistake i'll sort it, they give it back to you broken and walk away laughing, this is why they don't have their own equipment cause they have no qualms about ruining other peoples stuff aaaarrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhh rant over:banghead:
23. just wondering if any one has got one of the new 201t's stihl are saying are now all sorted so they no longer have any issues with being sluggish or boging down as they first did! if you have got one whats it like?
24. can you tell me does your dealer still have any of those 200T's in stock, and if they do who are they please, don't like the 201T so if i can get a 200 to keep me going till husky release the T540XP i'll be happy:thumbup:
25. i have 2 pairs of stretch airs and they are fantastic, for 1 they come in a long leg and having a 36" inside leg this really helps, 2 very strong and robust. like the man said earlier pull your bloody trousers up i'm sure none of you complaining are 16 and like wearing your trousers around your knees and you're in the woods its not a fashion show, hoist them up get the braces on and problem solved!!!!!!!!!
