  1. This has been my bench today, works surprisingly well. So i had my 560xp on the bench for a new chain brake band, i decided to give it a good clean and check all the bolts. I found the exhaust port a bit carboned up which i was a bit surprised at, but the real issue was the holes in the cylinder fins. Has anyone seen similar on their saws??
  2. Shutdown not required the 2 tree lengths is if your felling it, if dismantling then a distance of 9 meter is what your looking for. At 9 meters (drip line to pole, or in this case i would go for the stay wire) your outside of the proximity zone and dont need to even tell the power company. two men, a days work £500/600 i would say, crack on.
  3. Im not too sure there is much point in calculating a price point based on calorific value as the effective heat, that's what the consumer cares about, is dependent on the burners efficiency. So off the top of my head i would expect wood stoves to be less efficient than a comparable oil burner and so would lower the price of your wood even further.

  5. Ahh yes thats where they are hiding. Thanks
  6. So im looking into converting from the standard .325 to 3/8 after hearing good things on here. Ive got the sprocket so now for bar and chain. Trying to find a bar that will fit is proving difficult, im looking for a 16" sealed nose sprocket bearing like the oregon powermatch bars - 168RNDK095 problem is other than a lucky dip on ebay i cant find anywhere that sells them, id like something more 'off the self' so i can replace it quick if needed. I'll be PM RobD soon to see if he and sort me out but would like to here suggestions first. thanks.
  7. This is crackers! I have a 200 its great would i buy a new one? YES, would i spend any more than circa £500? NO.
  8. I use bowline and figure of 8 for both work and rock climbing. even correctly tied and set the bowline can work loose, the F8 wont i dont even bother with a stopper knot on a F8 but will on the bowline. In over 10 years of rock climbing having taken repeated 'wippers' on a F8 i have never failed to untie it.
  9. This im not so sure about. I have a 560xp its my second (due to the first one getting nicked) The first i had access to a great big log and set the AT as per many have said here. the second one i did not have a big log handy and got got on with my work using it on what i had to hand (small dia stuff 3" or 4") After the break in time of about 5 or so tanks fills i cant tell the difference. the second 560xp cuts just a well as the first (that is to say VERY well) When you think about it the AT is constantly adjusting for all sorts of variables, Air density, temp, fuel type etc..... so to 'set' it is only any good if the conditions are the same. i like to think the AT sets its self as and when it needs to, that way i can get on with my work instead of searching for a big log to cut.

    Kit stolen

Hello all just a heads up, today our van got ransacked on the side of the A57 Mosborough bypass, Sheffield between 10:30 and 12:30. kit taken includes, 2x full climbing kits 1x MS362 1x 560xp 1x MS200t and some personal items. Chance of seeing any of it again are next none but if anyone hears of anything it would be nice to know. Thanks Ricky
  11. Im thinking the same!? the equipment may need to come from a registered supplier but surly not the fuel? providing you can set up a cheap drying process and the chip is of the right size and shape for you boiler i see no problem. How about a diy solution? no government grants but if you like tinkering it could work?

  14. No wonder i was have problems tracking it down, it was hiding in plain sight. Thanks
  15. Can anyone help me track down a impulse line for a 200t, Ive checked the bay and LS engineers with no luck. Can i use vacuum hose like on a car? if so what ID do i need? The old hose had a hole in it so just chucked it away or i would measure it. Thanks
  16. Just a thought the 560xp has 3 settings for the oiler, even on the lowest setting you'll still get a line of oil when testing but if you then start cutting hard at full bar length it may not be enough? i have it on medium for general work and turn it up to high if logging up. I know high may be over the top for a 15" bar but for the cost of a little extra chain oil i prefer to have it well oiled.
  17. Im popping a new piston in a ms200t, anybody got a neat way of installing the spring clips? Iv'e got the type that dont have the little handles that you can grip with pliers. i know there's a tool but not going to buy it just for one piston. Thanks
  18. Got a temperamental 020t and just picked up a running (but lean seized, ally transfer) 200t. The 200t is getting a new piston and the pot will clean up easy, im thinking of swapping some bits over from the 020 to the 200, namely the carb and im thinking about the exhaust too as its looks less restricted than the 200 any truth in this? Will oven cleaner get the ally transfer of the pot? i think its muriatic acid i need and i think its found in most overn cleaners? anyone got a better source for acid? Thanks Ric
  19. I once asked a dealer to do something similar and they wouldn't touch it with a barge pole.
  20. mikerecike - thanks for the suggestion, just had a look and its seem they've got a decent list of parts but judging by the price i take it its all OEM stuff. Not a bad thing guess i was looking for some good 3rd party stuff. Rover - i see where your coming from and second hand saw do fetch a good price will definitely conciser this. tho i do enjoy maintaining and fixing my own kit
  21. Ok so im in the market for a ground saw, im looking at a second hand ms341/ms361 or maybe going over to the dark side with a 550/560xp. Now im all for trying something new (read husky over stihl) but im finding it hard to source parts for the huskys? Short of a main dealer where to people get parts? even ebay has let me down? Thanks
  22. Sorry to drag up an old thread but i have been thinking along similar lines. I have pretty much the same cheapo optical tach and think it would make a nice little project to turn it into a inductive tach. what gauge wire and how many turns did you use? if i understand it right, the number of turns will alter the induced voltage across it?
  23. Hi, with this bad weather iv been giving my newly acquired 038super a once over. I noticed the chain was very knotchy ie it did not pull round easily, turns out its a .404 chain on a 3/8 bar and sprocket. i think the guy got a new chain for it to sell and got the wrong one. its a nice chin looks bran new but no good for the saw. Anyone want it? i'll pay postage you make a small donation to the site, sound fair? chain details- 404, 1.6mm, full chisel, 60 links Ricky
