  1. don't know, never tried , I normally just climb to top anchor then install it, then wizz back down on the pulley
  2. yes mate I know what your saying, but its very simple, less friction than standard cambium saver, and works well
  3. thanks its very effective, and new parts can be added as they wear,
  4. Heres my diy cambium/pulley saver, A mate i was climbing with had one and i had the vital parts to be able to make a retreivable saver in my kit bag so had ago and i love it, to pull it back i just use either a spliced eye or a simple overhand knot. consists of : 1- lyon eye to eye sling, ( could use split tail/prussik if needed to go round a larger top anchor) 2- isc karabiner 3- petzl micro pulley with matching petzl ok karabiner. i make sure that the karabiners are facing away from the main stem what do you guys think? thanks josh:001_smile:
  5. yh, i know exactly what you mean, it was only slipping to start with i should have put, but when the eye to eye bedded in in was fine.
  6. Hi, i put up a thread a while age, " progression from a prussik" and the main reult was distel with a pulley, so i went and bouht a eye to eye, petzl ok pulley and matching petzl ok karibiner, climbed with the distel for a month or two, but unfortunatly i just could get on with it, didnt like how it would slip sometimes, felt like there was too much infornt of me compared to the much simplier prussisk, just looked a bit untidy which other methods would be a good advance as im now back on prussiks, ?? with a homemade pulley saver ( the parts for the distel set up, big isc krab one end then eye to eye as cambium saver then petzl ok krab and [pulley the other end, making it a retreivable device) looking at zig zag, sport jack, lock jack, is a bit confusing for me so wold love some input from other climbers, nothing wrong with the old trusty prussik but if theres a way to make ascending and descneding easier on back/arms im up for it, thanks guys

    Stihl ms261

i have had 261, had 550xp and now got 560xp which is the best ground saw ive ever used, 261 is crap, ok for a few months but after a year or so starts falling to bits not good from a £500 saw:thumbdown:
  24. still looking ................
  25. Thanks all so the majority is .325 with 15" bar, I shall stick with it, definatly when you lean on the saw a bit in big stuff its way way more pokey than 550xp, but noticibly beaver on smaller stuff, Thanks
