  1. Hi all, I've used, stihl red oil, stihl hp oil, rock oil, total from mvf oil, husk oil, even some Fuchs Moto x oil in my old 024, ( all these oils have been used by people im subbing for) I'm currently using husk oil and have been for about a year. Is there really much difference to warrant paying the extra beween stihl red vs stihl green for example Any answers on which oil you use and where you get it from would be cool,, As for chain oil. .... Bio veg/sunflower oil £1.00 a litre from tescos!! Josh
  2. I've pm him, wats the cost? Does it really need to be anymore rapid? I live the saw but you just can't work on it like the older ones the same
  3. Well my old saw is back, its had new air filter, and housing, hot start kit, pullstart, new ignition module and firmware update, so ......... Hopefully ....... Its a goer this time as its on its last chance Thanks all Josh.
  4. no not really mate, dealer hasn't even phoned back, starting to get a bit peeded off , Yes I agree, well atleast the saws without all the elec- trickery are good My 201t , 660, etc are sweet, but as for medium saws, arrrghhh not good, Would grab an old me 260 or 346,357 if I could find one, few on fleabay atm but you don't know there history :-/ Josh
  5. no WON'T Start, still won't start now at lunch, its shite, josh
  6. The demo saw wouldn't cold start, so went for a flying lesson,, What a pile of S##T, only option now is one 346xp he has , or go back to stihl, As my work has changed I love the husks for logging, swallowing my stihl pride by saying that but there's not much choice, In my opinion all the new 50/60cc saws are shite, Josh
  7. Hi lyncombe-climber, I'm viewing a job this evening, which is managing, a mixed stand, some very decent soft in there too. Sorry to be a pain in the arse, Any chance of ur graph to compare it to what I have, Then as I sell the timber roadside I can expect a fair price, [email protected] Many thanks Josh
  8. I have a 660 and its too heavy to use evey day day in day out needs to be 50.60 cc mark
  9. hi mate as far as im aware, 261, 550 and 560xp are pro saws, as for cc I need to run as 15" bar, It get used for everything, from felling, to snedding to crosscutting, etc just a general reliable ground saw. As for timber mixture of hard and soft and probbaly needs to cope with at least 50tonnes of firewood, let alone day to day work as a freelance climber, Well I thought a 560xp was about perfect size n weight, fast in cut aswell however its gone back 2times now in less than 2 months, .... So ideally 50/60 cc 15 ish inch bar Reliable That's it, so far 550/60 are awsome but...... Have been unreliable so on the stihl side either leaves me 241 or 441 as had 61 n was shite and 362 has bad reports, Hope that explains more mate Josh
  10. Yes mate with high quality oil
  11. He has one last 346xp silver side left buts its a trio brake assuming this is easy to take off, what's a new 346 XP worth? Thanks josh
  12. Hi all, just to update you... 560xp went into dealer this morning, apparently it needs a new ignition module, he has lent me a demo 560xp and I've logged up approx 8 ish tonne of oak/ash with it today, and it hasn't missed a beat, maybe mine was just a dicky saw , ?? .. . He has said if it doesn't get fixed this time he will refund me, I can't say farer than that, question is what could I replace 560xp with, im not a lover of autotune, if im honest , All in all I still think the 560xp flies, its pokey to say the least but you just seem some horror stories and its making me want to flog or refund it, just saying if its needed new air fuel and ignition parts allready after 2 months what will it need in two years , Will keep you all updated Josh
  13. that is shite mate sorry, what annoyed me was yesterday petes 2002 me 240 ticked over all day when that shinny buzzy thing kept stalling , yes don't get me wrong it screams when its going, it really does fly but no goof if there's a big load of cord to log up with a saw that won't run as it should,
  14. yes mate using high quality 2stoke oil, 50.1, with fresh petrol, if it gets any older than 1 weeks I use it in chipper or splitter
  15. yes sorry mate, mines less than two months old on second chain now playing up, its junk for £600 saw just not up to the job sorry bud, might sell and go for a 241
  16. I can't fault, 201t or 660 or blower or h cutter guess wat all stihl
  17. if I could get a 346 I would
  18. yes I used to love it but not now
  19. yes very TRUE, however every time I take a saw back its coating me time and money
  20. Hi all, After some advice.. So looks like I need a new saw AGAIN, started off with a 261, fell to bits after a year so had to be rebuild and sold on, had a 550xp after 3 months that had new piston and head , a mate bought that off me, So then bought a 560xp, its less than 2 months old and has just come back from having the hot start kit fitted to it along with new air filter and housing and new pull start. Don't get me wrong its probably the best firewood saw I've ever used however its no good to me if its totally unreliable . . . And guess what it still keeps stalling, I've had problems with both stihl and husk but seem to be more problems with husk, Question is avoiding 261, do I get a new 241 or step up to the 441? Any reviews on 241 & 441 as a groundie would be awsome, Thanks Josh.
  21. cool i would love ago at this, is there any competions nearer to devon or is this the only one.?? thanks josh
  22. could some please give me some more info on the snedding events, i would love to have ago at that, such as what cc your allowed, chain type, is it just a snedding stem etc , thanks josh
  23. cheers mate, I went for airstreams and love them
