  1. Yeah, apart from being a millionaire city boy, I bet his hands are as soft as kitten’s ear.
  2. It’s a fair point..... Keep business overheads as low as poss, keep your personal spending down to minimum, invest in good kit to make work more efficient, play the long game. Then sit back and wait for the rewards of your sacrifices. Well, that’s the theory, the practice seems to be more like, spend beyond your means, don’t plan ahead and wait for a hand out when the excrement hits the air con
  3. I don’t “know” but I’d take a fairly safe bet... ? Best bet would be to pull yr pants down in preparation!
  4. Of all people I didn’t think I’d have to spell it out to you Egger. It’s me, laughing at me, not a PAYE laughing at a SE’d.... Ill get the crayons.....
  5. Universal income had some obvious simple advantages (some bear traps too) but that would just be too bloody simple.
  6. Agree mate, it was just my frustration coming out, wasn’t meant as a personal criticism.
  7. I missed that.... I won’t get any shit for it because it’s me!
  8. That’s how I’m reading it. Starting to look like those that work, expand, invest are gonna get bent over again. There’s a certain appeal ( and financial reward apparently) to being a waster!
  9. I’d have to look at the original rationale for having different tax rates for E v SE. I don’t know what that was without trying to find it. What has changed since then that might justify an alignment. I don’t know. I’d (generally) welcome anything that reduces bureaucratic complexity - god knows, the tax system needs it - but if this crisis is used as the justification for MORE (Stealth) tax then they can FoxTrot Oscar!
  10. Travel to and from work is an exempted activity. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the dotGov guidance that places any addition caveats on the nature, location or perceived ‘urgency’ of the work. That has all been added afterwards by lower level ‘authorities.’ Boris, like Donald, as perfectly cognisant of the negative effect of closing industries down. There is a specific list of businesses that MUST close, if you ain’t on the list, you don’t have to close.
  11. Unless I read it wrong, I suspect anyone that has ploughed profit back into plant & machinery should expect next to SFA from this. Also, early analysis suggest grants received ‘now’ (actually after June 1) will be classed as taxable income come end 20/21 SATR. You couldn’t make it up ? @Mark J - now would be a good time to send me a JC fan club subscription ?
  12. Self employed paying same tax rate as employed. He just ‘floated’ his idea casually until Peston button-holed him
  13. Possible my intended humour didn’t come across well in the post Ed. Your post was much appreciated and what I meant to portray was that it was as if you had actually been there. Apol’s if I didn’t make that clear. ??
  14. Every single individual one of us that buys cheap Chinese tat?
  15. Sounds uncannily similar scenario Mick. I’ll post a bit more detail when I can do more than 1 action before page freezes!
  16. Beejebus, were you actually there? I was called because after 10-12 years the trees had started falling over ? Lady of the house was actually quite pleased that 1 had hit the garage because had it not, the insurance wouldn't have paid for the clean up (I didn't do the clean up.)

  18. Bejeebus! Were you actually there? App has been playing up for me tonight so haven't been able to reply.... As it turns out, I didn't need to ?
  19. I didn't go any further.... It was only out of interest / for completeness. It's already done (10-12 years ago), can't be undone. They do now have to live with (and pay for) the potential consequences. Thanks for replies
  20. Breaking News..... Andrew has confirmed COVID 19 and has gone into voluntary isolation with Emily 14 (its not 'real' news, its a gag.... Which incidentally, is what Emily will be doing for the next 2 weeks ?)
