  1. I haven’t ‘read back’ coz it’s late, I’m tired and it’s likely drivel anyway.... But I’m inclined, nay compelled, to agree with your disagreement! No, the blind spot in all this self flagellation is that Africans captured, transported and sold Africans into slavery. Holy shit! Africans are implicated in the slave trade. Wakey wakey white apologists.
  2. There is not a country on this planet that is free all forms of discrimination or racism You’re right mucker, apart, maybe from Canada, the UK is probably one of the most tolerant. What a total, utter, unmitigated crock o shite this whole BLM issue is. MLK said, judge a man by his actions not by the colour of his skin. dick heads will always be dick heads, decent blokes will always be decent blokes.
  3. RAF Stafford (as was) would have been an ideal location. All ‘inside the wire’, safe and sound, as a concession, maybe throw them in the Wardroom (Junior Services might call it the officers’ mess) as a concession. Let them have the best of what they expect others to live in. My suggestion, and I still stand by it, is a purpose built site in MK. A pre-fab all inclusive business/living site. Throw it up on brown field, cancel multi billion £ renovation of Westminster, hand Palace of Westminster over to English heritage as a public attraction. There is not a sane, reasonable individual that can argue against it - only the snouts in troughs will say otherwise.
  4. The R1200GS and the KTM scrambler went when the nipper came along. Used the cash to buy a range cooker for the kitchen extension. I s'pose a cooker is safer than a bike but I'm feeling the pull to get another.... Think of everything you can to try and influence the Magistrate, good luck (and slow down!)
  5. That's quite funny.... (sorry!)
  6. Play along Egger, it upsets the Reds ?
  7. Everyone of an adult qualifying age gets the same universal basic income. From that you pay all your liabilities. No council tax rebate, no family support, no free rent, no married tax allowance, no income tax. Just a simple, single figure the same for all. I mean, just imagine the dismantling of HMRC and DSS! The savings would go a long way. You want 10 kids, no problem. If you find a house, and pay for it out of yr UBI (and what ever you do to top it up) good on ya. Of course there’d have to be a redistribution of wealth to achieve it but even I can accept that the extremes of wealth inequality are unsustainable. Apologies to Mick, this should really be in a thread called making the news TOMORROW. Who’d have thought that Turkish incident would have started a thread that’d still be rolling strong? It nearly died but rose again! Bloody BREXIT!
  8. Fair play Egger, last month it would have been a dead cert. Weather has put a bit of a damper on things today though - wouldn’t want to get the brogues muddy.
  9. Not “all” Mick! There’ll always need to be a Morlock class ? I really like the idea of UI. Everyone gets the same basic package. If you want to get on, you find your ways to do so. If you don’t want to get on, quit your whining you got your subsidy.
  10. It’s obvious Egger! it’s a June Saturday afternoon / early evening, no self respecting Tory would be in town - they’d be at the country pile enjoying a Pimms and a knock around the croquet lawn.
  11. I feel there’s a certain inevitability to UI Mick. Robotics, automation, e-commerce, all unstoppable forces reducing the number of gainfully employed available for taxation to fund the irresponsible lifestyles of the feckless. Add to that the inevitable job losses post C19 (I think time will show the furlough scheme as being a rather pointless and expensive finger in the dyke (I s’pose I’m not meant to use such a phrase - even though there’s no suggestion of the gender of the finger??)) This was an ideal (missed) opportunity to take a real good look at UI. Instead, ‘the system’ decided to ‘give’ money to folk so that they could later claw it back in tax. I mean, why not just give out 60% and say, that’s it, you’re done rather than give out 80% and (for the majority) then take back 20% in tax. I can’t figure it - other than 80 sounds better than 60 in a grand giveaway.
  12. It was a sweeping generalisation with obvious exceptions - the football mansions and all the leaches that suck up the crumbs from it being an obvious case in point. No small amount of irony attached to the working class origins of the FA leading to the establishment of some of the greatest wealth disparity in the UK - especially when it really stretches the bounds of meritocracy that such wealth is derived from little more than an ability to kick a ball. Meh....
  13. It’s the same up Norf Egger. Put a shaved monkey in a cheap suit with a red rosette and the clowns would have him in Parliament. (PS Staffs moorland is s Norf MIDLANDS - otherwise I’ve married a norfener and that wouldnt do!)
  14. That was hilarious Egger. If ever you needed evidence in support of Big J’s argument for removing the vote from the underclass. Particularly liked the T shirt election timetable sketch. 1 piece of information- 2 completely contrary interpretations of it. Both interpretations completely appropriate given the input source but resulting in an intransigent difference of opinion. - classic trickery.
  15. Whaddaya mean “don’t think?” If you had, Id expect it to at least be memorable otherwise what’s the point ? All well here mucker, bit ground hog day / cabin fever for the Mrs & bin lid - but there are worse places to be banged up! Work gone off the scale. Having to do weekends to keep ahead of demand.
  16. I just laugh at ‘em Egger. We’ve had plenty of differences of opinion (and I’m sure there’ll be more in the future) but I wouldn’t presume to call you ignorant or intimate that you are uneducated just because we disagree.
  17. You prove the point in your second sentence. You are attempting to project your perception of ‘ignorance’ upon those that disagree with your narrative. You're perfectly entitled to hold what ever opinion you chose. Attempting to denigrate anyone that holds an alternative pov is not acceptable. Surly the irony of your apparent position isn’t lost on you? Or are you so far indulged in your white privilege guilt? You hold your opinion, I wouldn’t presume to call you ignorant on account of it. I’ll form, hold and express my own opinion and it really doesn’t matter what you think about it.
  18. There’s a lot of this type of BS being trotted out. It was prevalent during the Brexit debate with certain 1/4s regularly making reference to ‘surveys’ that showed the proportions of voters in a supposed relationship to education (and professional) attributes. It’s particularly noticeable in the discussions online and in the print / TV media as relates to the BLM discussion. - “I’ve educated myself” - “You need to educate yourself” No, actually, “you” have absolutely no idea what levels of comprehension, education, experience somebody else may base their views and opinions upon. You just don’t like that others don’t agree with YOUR point of view. Guess what, just saying “I’ve educated myself” and intimating the ignorance of anyone with a contrary appreciation adds the √ of SFA to the credibility of your point.
  19. Can’t argue with the sentiment, delivery might benefit from a buffing off of a few rough edges..... (??? bit rich coming from me ?)
  20. There’ll be hell on if they happen across this estate agency ?
  21. Which is best VfM? Despite all the calc’s and variables, surely it’s a simple matter of cost.
  22. You put jam or cream first on a scone?
