1. Idyllic! 👍🏻 Would be a dream come true but unless I change my ways and put in some more days graft, I'll have to file it under "this time next year Rodney!"
2. Have you seen this Mull? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-40608227 Looks to be a very reasonable price! You could even argue that it's South of the land border....!
3. Well that put the cat amongst the pigeons! The picture that started this big v small debate was intended simply as an example of the potential benefit of breaking from the apparent forged mindset of "truck & chipper" which seems to prevail. The illustration was simply offered as a consideration for the OP since there isn't really any inspirational alternative being presented, other than going big. And there appears to be an aversion to going small for anything other than Mrs Miggins' small Apple tree. Thanks for all the insightful comments on the job in the picture, I'm guessing some of you must have visited the site to be so well informed? You'd remember the walled garden to the rear with a narrow entrance? You'd remember that approx 1/2 the chip (the stuff off the other side of the crown) was being retained in the garden and that, short of craning it in, you wouldn't get a towed chipper in there? You'd realise also that dragging all the brash out to roadside to achieve the efficiency of a big chipper would be negated by every barrow load you had to heave back in? Tom & Dick can please themselves, Kev's happy to put the right tool to the right job and match the man / machine combo to suit the prevailing circumstances 😁 Don't be a Dick, be like Kev 😂
4. Is the "problem" the apparent default assumption of need for a towed chipper? Obviously, it very much depends upon the tree species, but it is possible, even considerably easier in certain circumstances, to go small and get the job done. This Euc was chipped into dumpies in the trailer and all gone in one trip. For the right tree, small can be good too.
5. The beauty of Arbtalk - uniting the world 😂 The start of something beautiful perhaps....
6. Can hardly contain my outrage / contempt! Strangest thing, (very nearly) without exception, the list of highest earners, the best of the best, are the ones that cause me to IMMEDIATELY change channel / switch off.
7. Au contraire my counsel! I'd be shooting, beating and setting fire to anything associated with the project! On a separate note, an ever diminishing pot, creeping inexorably further out of reach? State pension age rise brought forward http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40658774
8. I like that! It's all been done before, rarely, very rarely, are there ever any genuinely new and innovative solutions - you just got to find what suits the task in hand (and consider the future!) What people are doing is what's best, otherwise they'd be doing something else....
9. Not disagreeing chap, I hear you 👍🏻 and totally agree! Some people are gonna feel like they've been well and truly kicked in the dangle berries. If, after (allegedly) illegally entering the country, cocking a hoop at employment, immigration, housing and tax laws through complicity in sub-letting and black economy working, then losing the home some were never even entitled to occupy, equates to an entitlement to exemption from prosecution and extradition, compensation and re-homing... Then those affected by HS must be looking at Honorary Knighthoods, a Royal palace, free train travel in perpetuity and a lifetime subscription to Amazon Prime. Tiz only roight & proper M'Lord!
10. Some house £ values may rise (not necessarily the desirability in the "normal" sense though) if near to a station or dramatically improved journey time / train capacity actually does increase - I think of it as madness, but people do commute long distances - apparently! An hour & 1/2 on the train each way would be a jail term for me, but I understand some do it. Nothing will appropriately compensate those directly, adversely affected I'm sure. And I expect there'll be a comprehensive round of protests and direct action. I wonder if we'll see Newbury bypass style tree top protests and how it might impact upon those arbs in the designated areas. 🤔
11. We may be close to an agreement there Mr E! Not made my mind up how I feel about that scenario (not that it makes any difference what anyone thinks I guess 😣)
12. Can't get to Cornwall if anyone mentions the slightest risk of flooding... The single train line goes into Black alert! (Could use classic Sturgeon moderation and restraint and take a helo I guess...)
13. Yay!! Free everything for all!! (Unless there's the remotest link to the slave trade, colonial exploitation or the majority population isn't BME) Dhooh! That's Coverack out of the Corbyn love circle then....
14. Residents of Coverack wonder why PM hasn't visited minor disaster site yet... Rioting and civil unrest forecast! Cornwall flooding: Massive flash flood hits Cornish village, destroying homes | The Independent
15. As I said above, agreed, there is a historic precedent attached to organised crime. Not perhaps quite so prevalent outside of that definable culture though... Until more recent times.
16. There was an active debate on LBC about it over the weekend. No surprise, one half wanted to advance the "it's the migrants" argument, whilst the other half wanted to advance the "it's been going on for years and has its roots in criminal gang culture back to the 60s" argument. Both are, in part, true of course. To suggest it's all migrant based would be inaccurate but to attempt to suggest it's nothing to do with a defined demographic is rather akin to the child grooming scenario. I'm inclined to think it has a definite pedigree in the so called "honour" revenge habit recognisable in a defined demographic and is merging into the mainstream repertoire through "cultural enrichment."
17. Awwwwh, dogammit! There's me thinking PMs were for private questions and forum was open season....
18. Seems odd that you might make that assumption Mark. I didn't see that suggestion... Another way of reading it could be, to recognise that an overt pursuance of an undemocratically imposed central policy of ethnic dilution brings with it some of the challenges of the cultures being imported...
19. Gutted!! Barstewards doesn't even come close! It's very distinctive, hopefully someone will spot it.
20. Sounds like you might know more than has been revealed thus far.....
