  1. I'm having to haul my 220lbs up a nasty Oak next week (and doing it for someone else!) Our little one started TaeKwon-Do about 8 weeks ago, I liked the style, ethos and training so much I signed up as well. 5 weeks in now and really enjoying it - wished I'd happened across it sooner!
  2. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but wasn't it inevitable that having a liability like that on the site was going to result in a drama at some point? Looking at it with a 2017 perspective, where would the blame lay or how would it be apportioned today if a known bubblehead had got injured in the workspace? There'd be more than 1 ass in a sling.
  3. Today, it's mostly been sleeping in the shed - wouldn't take it out in the rain How do you manage with that short tail ramp? I had to get the extra long tail ramp to avoid grounding out - esp when back weights are fitted.
  4. The practice is alive and well in Cornwall Gary! This post to Facebook was accompanied by the text "...180 year old pollard over anex , heartwood fungus, fingers crossed she pulls through..." It's only a small FB group (45 members.) My comment "...***king pollard? Are you **ssed...?" "...I can't figure what is most disappointing.... (a) that anyone would be so ill informed as to consider this a "pollard" (b) that it might be proudly, publicly posted as a paradigm of supposed professionalism or (c ) that of the 23 people that have seen it, nobody has ventured to comment how appallingly misinformed it is. Have I stumbled inadvertently into the "Travelling Tree Surgeons and tarmac crib room?" People 'do' what people 'do', and it's not a look at what the others are doing post, it's more a sad reflection on the state of the industry and the irreparable damage being done to our heritage by total idiots. Bring on the ambulance chasers I say, the sooner the better!
  5. I did find the comparison stats previously which showed the number of registered disabled 80's, 90's 00's, 10's. Can't seem to track it down anymore. It's a frighteningly dynamic upward curve. Instead of worrying about the level of DLA £'s the central government should be examining the reasons behind the exponential increase - if it carries on at the same rate the entire UK population will be registered in a fairly short timeframe. Wish I could find the stats (tin hat) they've obviously been buried by Corbyn!
  6. I did see an inadvertently forwarded email when in a previous job which referred to me as Morgoth. Cheeky bar stewards, made 'em pay for that administrative over sight!
  7. Wouldn't be a problem in the UK, the over inflated sense of 'entitlement' commonly displayed by some of the disabled community would simply result in them parking in other allocated parking (e.g. supermarket parent / toddler bays) as the 'right' to privilege and indignation at being asked "...where's the child..?" when challenged seems to override all rational behaviour.... Or the blue badge is being used by a family member who's fitter than a butcher's dog....
  8. Probably would have been quicker with a decent driver! 🤤
  9. Poor “employees” getting a bashing here, to turn the tables a bit.... Thursday & Friday I’d agreed to sub in for climbing to a nearby outfit for some big stuff on a development site. Met the site Arb consultant who assured that all relevant consents & permissions were in place (including urgent felling) Quick online check - you guessed it! Complete [emoji243][emoji90] Had an “I’m really annoyed” phone call today asking why no work on site.... Replied with “You’re annoyed? Do you recall telling me yesterday that you had all necessary consents??” “I’ve submitted the 5 day notice this morning, can you please get on with it?” “No, you lied and your 5 day notice is invalid because you’re quoting a limb failure that happened over a month ago as an immediate justification for felling a tree when (a) you said you already had permission (b) crown reduction not felling is sufficient to ameliorate the hazard and [emoji767] it’s hardly immediate if the limb failure occurred over a month ago and you’re only worried now the winds picking up! https://youtu.be/11ZkH2pWwK4 PS. Banging Friday toon!
  10. [emoji15] OCD moment! Assume nothing..... [emoji16]
  11. I too am biased, but to a lesser degree since I bought one in comparison to you trying to sell them. But.... Totally agree with you [emoji1303]
  12. I bought 8 pairs socks from Arborwear at last years Confor show - they had a “lifetime guarantee! Pretty much worn everyday, and occasionally washed. 1 pair has disintegrated, 1 pair on last legs, remainder holding up ok. I kept all the labels / receipts with the plan of challenging the “life time” guarantee. (That’s how exciting my life is!) Take yr point Gary, it does not say MY lifetime, it’s the lifetime of the sock. Once it’s fooked, it’s fooked! Good socks mind, would recommend! For NAS, Sorry it was a short first post. I had to dash before being able to write anymore. I read the blog. Naively, I kind of expected some ground breaking revelation and was a bit annoyed at having wasted time reading it. My fault - my expectation was unusually high on a rare optimistic day. I felt the style and content of the blog was mismatched with the potential market audience since (I felt) it was a very basic level of info which wouldn’t provide an inspirational new consideration for seasoned users. Just my view, you can’t please all the people all the time. Offered in the spirit of constructive criticism / feedback. [emoji1303]
  13. Ag sector has the pernicious, omnipresent overarching lobby influence of the NFU to enhance and maintain the beneficial trading status in that sector - regardless of the implications. Forestry and Arb (nor any other industry sector) has anything like the degree of direct influence over government policy. Without going off on a massive de-rail, you’ve only to look to policies such as hunting, badger cull, neo-nics, subsidies to start to realise just how far removed from public opinion some agricultural policies are. That doesn’t happen without massive lobby influence from the likes of NFU, CLA etc... Looks like the MEMBERS of the NT are about to rise up and force the organisation to listen to the plebiscite on hunting..... “...The general who became a slave. The slave who became a gladiator. The gladiator who defied an emperor. Striking story! But now, the people want to know how the story ends. Only a famous death will do. And what could be more glorious than to challenge the NFU in the great arena..?”
  14. It makes a lot of sense on many levels: you’ve got the obvious vehicle safety & security benefits whilst driving or parked (protecting your no-fault no- claim or malicious damage issues) but there is also worksite recording depending upon vehicle position which could offer protection in an accident investigation or where customers or neighbours claim incidental damage... Possibly a useful sales pitch too - include work site CCTV as a management of H&S aspect in RAMS and if customer wants a video of the task could be provided as an add-on option or a freebie (depending on circumstances) There’s a lot to like there [emoji1303] (Unless the fleet is yellow! Sorry Paul, I know I shouldn’t but couldn’t help myself [emoji23])
  15. Not so fast there Mr H! There could be variables...... [emoji16] For example, the lower leaves of peripheral pendulous foliage MIGHT retain the previous season’s desiccated brown leaves to protect the tasty, delicate new season buds and leaves from the predation of deer if below the browsing line..... [emoji23]
  16. Seems like a duplicate of the BSL scheme in many respects. Just another scheme where the only tangible output is generating sufficient funds to pay the salaries of the shiny ass brigade that are administering it! Pish!
  17. Nice set. Are you urban based, M25/congestion charge etc? Like the forward thinking for emissions [emoji1303]
  18. All I could discern as an advantage of a boxer was its relative small size in comparison to the other options. I spent 2 years looking and thinking about it. For me, that was not enough of a ‘plus’ point to outweigh the other options. It has to come down to personal choice and circumstances. I’m sure if I’d taken the boxer route I’d have been looking to trade in and upsize within 12-24 months.
  19. Different features on different cameras. If hard wired you can have 24/7 recording - which can provide a portable addition to any building fixed CCTV at home, yard or street for example, or you can have bump/zone movement activated recording - which is less drain on the battery but only activates when there is a detected incident. If it's a 'plug-in' system to 12v, it generally switches on/off with vehicle ignition. There is some admin associated with CCTV as detailed at the ICO website: https://ico.org.uk/for-the-public/cctv/ Worth a quick read to understand what is / isn't legal - even though there's precious little chance of ever getting pulled up for it.
