  1. I appreciate, for volume, it can be represented as necessary. I’m only viewing from a self-sufficiency perspective and with the luxury of low volume, sufficient time and ample space for ‘natural’ processes. I can understand the situation of trying to achieve product, on time and to spec, in bulk, but it just doesn’t “sit” right with me. I struggle to believe there was ever the intent, when RHI was conceived, for it to be used in this fashion - given my natural starting point of distrust and (occasionally mild, occasionally fierce) contempt for regulatory ineptitude, I can’t help but feel this is a perversion of the original intent. May be wrong of course...
  2. No offence Steve, but for me, burning wood, to dry wood for burning is as close to "defies logic" as it is possible to get... And the proof of that - would you do it iffum you weren't being paid to do it?
  3. No surprises there: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/may/24/revealed-majority-politicians-key-eu-farming-panel-industry-links But I wonder how many of these policy makers have links, knowledge or allegiance to “small”, Hill or tenant type farmers as compared to large scale land owning, corporate types? Its one of the reasons I struggle to comprehend the allegiance, from the “little” guys, to the masters.
  4. My mate with dyslexia bought a warehouse! You can imagine our disappointment! He then tried religion.... but couldn’t “find” his Dog! ??‍♀️???‍♀️
  5. In Liskeard - http://www.barnecutt.co.uk Further afield, the indisputable best would be - https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g528843-d12705547-r512781413-Horse_Jockey-Helston_Cornwall_England.html Annually, the World Championships are held at Eden: http://www.cornishpastyassociation.co.uk/about-the-pasty/world-pasty-championships/
  6. Give money to someone that sits in an office so that they can sit in an office.... That's a hard sell....!
  7. There'll be hell on! Protests at the bridge!! The extremist, ultra Mebyon Kernow militant wing will be readying the blunderbuss!
  8. Alex..... Ivor or Ron? It could affect how our interaction progresses in the future!
  9. Will, if you get nothing else sorted before you arrive, house, work, car, school for the bin lids.... For the love of God, do some boffing up on oggy-knowledge. “Helluvagood” is a fairly recent arrival on the local scene at St Ive (just outside Liskeard) Pasties are mediocre but sausage rolls are the undisputed CHAMPIONS of the world and bacon/egg pie is a beaut!
  10. ‘Ere me ‘ansiomes: http://www.cornishpasties.org.uk/tiddyoggy.htm there is one particular “anomaly” which bears mention... in Kernow that which in sane areas is called a swede, is referred to as turnip. PS that which is broadly recognised throughout the UK as turnip, is also (still) called - you guessed it - turnip!
  11. Are you an Ivor or a Ron man Alex? Wars have been fought and families divided over lesser issues, when Trump has finished the reunification of N / S Korea, word is, he’s heading to Devonport to try and reunify the Dewdney Bros! Word is there’s talk of a peace summit in neutral ground.... Estover is looking favourite with Keyham as a close second.
  12. You are a LEGEND for even knowing about H&J pasties! That you know about it, said it and BELIEVE it has brought a ray of sunshine into my otherwise fairly bleak day. Those that “know”, just know eh Paul ?
  13. You can have some as well if you like Karl
  14. Give yerself a good shake mucker.... Are you INSANE? If you’re THAT keen I’ll send you my UTR and you can pay mine! Yeah, that’s how altruistic, caring, sharing I am ?
  15. That’s like a whole day trip away J! You’ll have to shake off that habit of travelling vast distances through open rolling countryside and get hunkered down well within the parish boundary! I’m horrified to find I’m approaching 8k miles on the Hilux after 18months!! Good luck with your move!!!
  16. I use this one: https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/ its like Arbtalk for accountants (but without the razor sharp wit, cutting sarcasm, outrageous humour, humbling humility and general community love....) Its unlikely you’ll spend any recreational time catching up with mates, having a laugh, taking the urine on there.... Just log in, seek the answer and bail out as soon as possible - it’s dryer than the Gobi desert ? PS - I haven’t seen Matelot or Vesp in there yet unless they’re masquerading under pseudonyms!!!??
  17. A bit rash perhaps, but borne out of 2 personal experiences (1) my first accountant, I had to explain AIA to, they were binned shortly thereafter. (2) a lying LR dealership that sold me a 110 utility as a commercial vehicle whereas it actually turned out to have a chassis number 6 months BEFORE the EU emissions regs required the change to “commercial” - I got caught out on that one. Lesson learnt. Every day is a school day, but it’s a bit rich if you’re paying professional fees and not getting professional service. I heard there’s a Bentley 4x4 coming soon.... I SO ‘need’ that for the rugged, reliability and all terrain capability of a woodland management vehicle ?
  18. Read this: https://www.gov.uk/capital-allowances/what-you-can-claim-on Then email "accountant" and give him the boot....
  19. Pics are always good, short vid even better!! ?
  20. (a) count themselves lucky (or maybe unlucky) they don't live in Sheffield.... (b) as has been said before, sure the council will quote "amenity value" (remembering the very long and passionate thread about that) and that the trees bring pleasure to many (generally without actually having any 'hot-body' to lay this claim directly against) whilst completely ignoring the overt, stated dis-pleasure that is being experienced by the named people. Tricky one... Money's tight, trees grow, there's no compelling case to do anything (other than the complaint.)
  21. ? quote: “I can’t dry laundry outside because of the dense shade and the garden is damp and overgrown with moss. “It’s depressing as I can’t afford a lawyer to fight the council and they rely on this to stop people taking them to court. They think they’re above the law.” Isn’t that a general overview of Scotland?? ?
  22. I’m still confused..... (easily done!) Did the new owner “know” there was a TPO but used the absence of an overt record being supplied by the LA in the transfer docs in order to dupe an unwary contractor? Did the new land owner instruct a solicitor to conduct land searches prior to the sale and the results came up negative? Did the purchaser specifically ask the LA about TPO on the NEW piece of land? Something just doesn’t seem ‘complere’ In the circumstances described thus far...
  23. PS... A bit more social commentary:
