  1. I was looking at that the other day. Do you have any experience of it? Thanks 👍
  2. Cheers for the pics. The shelves look great 👍 Do you have a hydraulic top link on your grab?
  3. It’s a Goldoni euro 45 so not huge. I do like the idea of a skidding grapple but I’m thinking with large logs it just won’t have the capacity to lift one end off the deck which is part of the problem I have with the winch although it’s fairly heavy to begin with before adding a log. If it does lift one end up, the front end is in the air and being articulated steering I don’t have independent brakes so extraction is tricky. I reckon a big arch would take most if not all the weight of a big log? Agreed about faff setting it up but for decent logs it’s worth it? Love a bit of spalted Beech 👌
  4. Hi folks, looking for peoples experiences of using either TCF or Logrite log arches, particularly the big ones. I’m thinking one for behind an Alpine tractor or Defender 90 would be handy for extracting large stems for milling. I see there was some chat previously about them but not much recently. Image from when I borrowed a Logrite jnr arch to help skid some Ash and keep it clean. Despite being way overloaded it made life a lot easier! Cheers
  5. I posted my much loved Valtra 6550 in the classifieds last night if anyone is in the market? Gutted to see it go but there’s a genuine reason for sale. Any questions, ask away! Cheers

FOR SALE VALTRA 6550 Due to a change in business direction, I am very reluctantly selling my 2005 Valtra 6550 with 7600 hours - going up slightly as its still in use. Fully forestry guarded - really heavy duty guarding with belly plate, side mounted tool box, locking fuel filler, rear window guard and polycarb rear window. MX 100 Loader - euro 8 headstock with 3rd service and joystick, comes with pallet forks fitted with an Igland grab and a 7ft Bucket which has hardly been used. Tires are 80-90% with front Alliance forestry tyres and valve guarded wheels all round. Small but powerful tractor with Steinbauer chip adding 30HP bringing it up to about 130hp. I have the owners manual and V5. Loader was re-pinned & bushed, front axle bushes replaced, new fuel tank sender unit, tracking & steering sorted, loader hoses replaced and cab filters changed at local ag engineer last year. Just back from Jas Wilsons last week with a new starter ring gear and front diff seals fitted. Both Ian and Paul commented on how tidy a tractor it was, everything works - lights, beacon, Bluetooth radio, heater, 7 pin sockets etc. The tractor always got what it needed down to Valtra bonnet lettering and even agco heater louver vents which weren’t cheap. A well loved, capable tractor in the woods and handy in the yard from an owner operator. Offers around £26.5k + VAT from serious buyers only please. Tractor is located in Falkirk, Central Scotland. Any questions, send me a message. Thanks for looking 👍

  7. Hi folks, just a wee heads up! I’ve posted my Logosol M8 Mill in the Classifieds section if anyone is interested? I have a bandmill now so can’t justify keeping it. Cheers

It just needs a chainsaw power head like a Stihl 661 to be up and milling. Incudes a non captive nut clutch cover needed for a 661 and the owners manual. Located Falkirk, Central Scotland - collection preferred. £1450 + VAT Andy - 01324309789

  10. Thanks for the replies, maybe my heart was right… I’ll need to do some head scratching about how to get some millable timber out and be very careful of Porsche in the driveway!!!
  11. Apologies for the terrible photos!
  12. Recently got contacted about buying this Sweet Chestnut stem and went to have a look today. I was interested as we don’t have much Sweet Chestnut in this neck of the woods… It’s 5.5m long and about 1m at the stump. There’s a few things putting me off: -looks like some shake visible which seems to go all the way up. -some staining from metal further up as well as some rot (presumably why it was felled?) -access is terrible… My head says walk away but my heart wants to slab a large, historic, local tree as there’s definitely a few nice burrs in it. I welcome your thoughts [emoji106]
  13. I’ve got the smart cap, the one before the evo and definitely rate it. Expensive but considering they are stainless steel and not just plastic and glass, it definitely feels a lot more secure, I got the mesh grill for the rear window in mine too.
