  7. If I am unsure how long it will take and want the job, i say to the customer that I will cut it first time for free and then quote them. Do the best job possible neat and tidy. This way you know how long it will take with your machines and the customer can see what they are paying for. as far as how often it needs cutting, every 7 days will keep it looking neat buy 14 days it will be ready for cutting. you want to charge per cut not by the hour
  8. Hello , I maintain a large garden where some old large conifers grow. which over the years have failed in winds. the stump of one most be 10 foot high and about 2 foot across if not more. the photo below shows what's left of the tree. the bit to the right is about 12 ich high out of the photo would any one be interested in having a go at it ? the tree is set in a 2 1/2 acre Victorian garden in halifax. this is the biggest stump i have seen in there but i am sure they would be others? thanks Michael

  14. does any one know a suppler of self binding gravel close to halifax yorkshire? similar stuff to what is in the link Natural Stone Reclaimed Stone IMAG Self Binding Gravel i have goggled it but can't found a suppler round here. it will be the first time we have used it. from what i have seen its about 100 per bulk bag. does any one know of a alternative, i was thinking about trying some stuff from a local quarry 14mm to 0mm (sandstone) its would been used as a foot path only no cars and be wacked. thanks michael
  15. we use echo srm4000 and fined them a bit gutless ? we also have a few kawasakis which are good machines th48 prices are good too for kawasaki. stihl seem expensive but i am sure are good.
  16. hondas cost alot to buy, parts cost loads, run slow, **** on wet or long grass, heavy (ally deck 55kg) but blade clutch (engine will run with blade not turning), neat cut, engines run for ever, cheap on fuel, easy starters, shaft driven we found that the engines are still good after 3 seasons hard work but the rest handles flap wheels bags cables springs start to go and cost too much to replace. we now run snappers the ones we have are 21 inch cut 3 speeds mulch blade, collect or spit out ally deck they have a robin 6,5hp belt driven. they have a drag flap which leaves strips in the right conditions. i like then because they cut grass fast and neat.a job which might have taken 30 mins with the honda takes 20 mins with the snapper. victas another good walk behind think they might have stop the 2 stroke models now which were the best 460 550 michael
  17. hi i am needing more store space and have been looking into this type of building Omega Steel Building | eBay it would be used to keep my machines in tractor digger trailer etc, log store and a place to store a small amount of animal feed. i am looking to build this on a green belt land were i trade from. has any one else built similar and what problems did you come across with planning. thanks
  18. i worked at a place which sold bare root conifers they sold alot by mail order. they also sold in pots. its not there any more. the reason i want bare root is cheapness compared to pot grown. pot grown = about 2.50 pound each 2 to 3 foot. bare root i would say between 40p to 1.00 each but abit smaller and have to be watched. i want about 100 in total leylandii can only be propagated by cuttings the seeds if any are no good. that is why they are mostly found in pots or root balled but some people do grow leylandii in fields for the bare root season like were i used to work its for a hedge to go round my yard.
  19. i am looking for bare root leylandii. the nursery i normal use for bare root stuff does not sell leylandii. does any one have any ideas of a trade nursery where i could get some. i am in halifax thanks michael

  23. this is how i would be thinking If he is a good customer selling your logs, give him a discount to keep his custom. does he come and collect them? if you was delivering them how much would it cost time and fuel? He could always take his money to another suppler and sell there logs to your customers???
