  1. Hopefully fixed now, it wasa problem with WordPress. Link now works ok.
  2. We would be happy to discuss with you the US Logrite Arches that we bring in to the UK. Please see this previous thread for a few ideas. The manufactures, Logrite, are very happy to custom make parts that suit your uses.
  3. We use our local Palletways agent for the majority of items because the price is great. We use an alternative local company who are agents for Palletline when we send higher value stuff that needs handling a little more carefully. Palletways are fast, reliable and very helpful. They will work you out a very good volume price if you can shift enough pallets. Plus they do a very good half pallet and Euro pallet rate. Palletline are probably not going to be competative for timber deliveries unless your local agent wants to get on board with a low price hoping for your sales to take off in future. They photograph every pallet as it enters and leaves a depot, plus provide more flexible insurance options for high value goods. But that all puts the price up.
  4. Multi window stoves shed heat like mad, so you always have to work harder to get that internal high combustion temperature established. Always keep in mind that both the stove and flue system need to be up to full working temperature before you get efficient and clean wood combustion, not just the flue pipe. The flue pipe thermometers are a good idea, but with a three sided stove you need to be looking for the fire-bricks 'burning clean'. Correct internal combustion temperatures will burn the carbon deposits off of the bricks. Then you know its nice and hot inside, not just hot in the flue pipe. The Swiss fire lighting method is useful because the uncovered kindling burns hot and fast before the bigger logs. I've put a detailed description on our website if you are interested; here. Hope that helps.
  5. We send odd shaped stuff quite often, just this week a 2.1m long Logrite Mega Canthook. Forget TNT accounts and Parcel2go, they just want an easy life. We found a local independant courier firm in Essex. They hold the big courier accounts with Parcel force and APC etc, they collect form us and deal with everything. Much cheaper than non-account TNT etc, much more flexible than parcel2go and a personal local service. If you are in Essex I can recommend our courier, Bancroft Logistics. Regards, David
  6. We have a big wicker basket that's too heavy to move when full up, with a Morso canvas log carrier inside it to collect firewood (a kind of sling with wooden handles each end). It work pretty well and holds all the bark and bits in one place. The small Hessian basket if for dog toys. David
  7. Hello. Thank you so much for the detailed reply. Logrite have been refining and improving their arches for a long time now, so the strength, quality and reliability is second to none. It would be great if we can find a suitable package for UK Horse Logging. Based on the Log sizes and weights you describe, the obvious contender from Logrite is their T30 Tractor Arch, shown here in it's intended role behind a tractor. All the required bits are there, and I'll look into how easily it can be modified for other roles. More info here Tractor Arches T30 and T36 - LogRite Tools LLC. Otherwise if 25" logs and 2000lb in weight was sufficient you have the Fetching Arch shown here towing a big log; More details of the standard arch here;Fetching Arch - LogRite Tools LLC To perform the role of your custom made Silver Arch would only require small modifications to turn a Logrite into a basic "log suspender". As you are already using the Swedish arch to keep the nose up on sensitive or soft ground, the role of the big arch is pretty simple. I was thinking that modifications would have to incorporate all the 'horsy fixings' for want of a more appropriate term. I've asked Logrite to comment on braking systems as you suggest. Any other thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks for the offer to trial products in future, we'll see where this goes. Regards, David
  8. We've been selling the American Logrite Arch for a few years now to all manner of customers, but no Horse Loggers yet. Quite a few dropped by our stand at the APF show and we chatted about the options. Now that we are working directly with Logrite in the US, we want to explore how the Arches can be adapted for Horse logging. What would work best for you, an Arch that attaches to a 2" tow ball on a dolly/single axle cart? Or perhaps a custom made adapter for poles? Any suggestions? Here are some examples of the Arches being used in the US for Horse logging. These are a standard Fetching Arch with Tow ball option (top photo) and the dedicated ATV Arch for towing (bottom photo) Looking forward to hearing some of your thoughts. Regards, David Orion Heating & Renewables Limited, Essex
  9. Thank you to everybody who stopped at our Orion Heating stand at APF2014. It was great to meet customers interested in, or already using, our Logrite/Reipal/PortableWinch products. The feed back and questions are invaluable to us. Anything you need to know following on from the show then please feel free to get in contact via PM or [email protected]
  10. OK, we're on our way to APF2014 shortly, so here is the new UK only LOGRITE pricelist http://www.orionheating.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/NEW-Logrite-Pricelist-2014.pdf All LOGRITE arches, canthooks and tools are reduced because we now buy straight from the USA. We want to make this fantastic brand a must have and affordable tool in the UK. Regards, David Forestry Equipment at Orion Heating
  11. Hello. All the TreeJack prices and details are on this page; Tree-Jack Felling Tool | OrionHeating.co.uk there is also a helpful description by the Swedish manufacturer about which size to choose, so hope that's helpful. Regard, David Orion Heating
  12. The 3 in 1 ULTRA is now priced about £200 cheaper than before. The new price is £1400.36 ex. VAT. It's such a well built and versatile tool, you are of course paying for three tools and the mechanisms to swap between them. The ULTRA is not designed for forwarding, perhaps consider the Buck arch instead. The brand new BTS Hauler is similar but just 2 in 1, big sack barrow and brush trolley. It's £511.44 ex VAT, which beats all the other brush trolleys on the market for quality and value, plus it converts to a sack barrow for 3 foot diameter rounds or big logs. Details here; BTS Hauler - LogRite Tools LLC Anyway, drop by for a chat if you are at APF. Regards, David
  13. We'll have some stock to sell, canthooks and the spikey hookaroons for example. Mainly there to show the products and chat to people. No credit card machine this year cos it refused to process a single payment at apf2012. Cash sales, or phone our shop on 01279 813591 to pay and collect at show, or leave details at show and purchase after. Regards David
  14. Orion Heating are now bringing the American Logrite tools straight into the UK from Vernon Connecticut. We've been able to considerably improve the prices for the end user. Our new pricelist will take effect at APF2014, so drop by our stand at H8b to have a chat. More info here; Logrite Arches at Orion Heating We'll be displaying; Logrite Logging Arches Logrite Canthooks and Hookaroons Reipal Tree Jacks Reipal Timber Tong PortableWinch PCW5000 Capstan rope winch, with Skidding cone Hope to see you there. David
  15. Does the one locally have the choker chain adaptor? They take one very big log at a time using the tongs, but the choker chain attachment can gather up multiple logs at once. The space inside the arch for timber is pretty large, we have customers moving large amounts of timber in a day with this setup. Couple of photos of the arch in use with the cable winch for forwarding behind a vehicle, choker chain achieves the same thing. I see what you mean by the labour efficiency, but that has to be weighed up against the high cost of bigger toys. Man power or horsepower, neither come cheaply.
  16. A little fresh in the shop today. We've got a few to choose from, so I went with the 3 to 7kW Heta to warm things up before lunch time. It's doing the job very nicely. David
  17. We sell the American Logrite Arches, and have supplied a few of their big Fetching models for thi skind of work; Fetching Arch - LogRite Tools LLC The Fetching arch has a big wide wheel base and good size tyres, will pick up a seriously big trunk or lots of smaller trunks at once. You then pull the whole lot out of the woods using a winch. They don't fall over sideways and safely stop and drop when you stop winching. A petrol PortableWinch works well with these because the anchor point can be moved quickly to avoid obstacles. PortableWinch, Fetching Arch and rope makes for a very efficient, safe and capable setup at around £3.5k. I can send more details, or follow link in signature for more info.
  18. Always fancied one of these; Free Spirit Spheres An orb-shed suspended by cables. Not sure it really qualifies as a tent, but would easily sleep two in comfort. The shipping costs might be a little steep.

  22. We sell the Canadian petrol powered Portable Winch. It's a capstan winch so no heavy cables, just good quality rope and a choker chain required. The reason for this pretty blatant plug is to say many of our customers work in or next to rivers, moats, shorelines. We have people pulling trolleys out of rivers, felled trees out of water, ponies out of marshes, anything that can be attached to a rope really. It's a controllable and very mobile method of winching. The winch can be anchored to anything on the bank and the rope is much easier to work with than a tirfor cable. The set up is many times faster than a tirfor winch as well. If you want any information please see the website; Portable Winch - Capstan Rope Winch - OrionHeating.co.uk or phone me on 01279 813591. Regards, David
  23. Yep, we're based in Essex. Sell woodburners and forestry equipment. You can find the snatch blcoks in the Portable Winch accessories brochure here; Portable Winch - Capstan Rope Winch - OrionHeating.co.uk or more specifically here; http://www.portablewinch.com/pdfdoc/106/pw-recreational-flyer-low-rez-en.pdf Regards
  24. We sell these in the range of Portable Winch accessories, but of course it's for 12mm rope not cable. They do an open face snatch block with 100mm diameter sheave and a metal cone that fixes to the rope. When the cone hits the open face snatch block the rope jumps off. Very simple but effective. The working load of the block is 20kN. £71 ex Vat for the two components.
