  2. Hi Looking to get a mini digger for our fencing business (and a self build) Couple of questions for a more experienced audience, track life, possibly looking at a digger with 50% tracks, what sort of time will that give me (we mainly work in fields etc cant see much work on hard stoney tarmac type ground) been looking in the 3k-5k bracket and need to be piped for (auger) any suggestions? repuytable dealers etc? any other info?

  5. Ok here's one for you, I've inherited this, anyone used one? any idea of what its worth?
  6. Its a tough one, my business has grown (fencing) I didn't want a labourer working with me persay, so I went for a very qualified guy, it works really well, he turns up on the job, and the job gets done. I have a feeling that the drop in £ to get down to a level where I cover all my additional costs would mean its too low for him. seems a shame we can stay as we are really Anyone know what constitutes being an employee rather than subbie?
  7. Hi, Ive got a guy whos been doing some work for me (As a sub contractor) Hes shown an interest in becoming employed by me, Im trying to work out the pros and cons any pointers?
  8. Buy it,,,, they don't make land anymore
  9. I started with a lawnflite £700, deck was shot, welded it all up (took 2 days), Sold it at the end of the season for £500 Bought a countax for £900, did 2 seasons (deck good, loads of spares online and cheap) rear axel oil seals shot, sold £660 Bought a 50" CUB Cadet with 100hrs on it for £1200, its the muts works well, The only tip is buy in the winter, sell in the summer (even if you have to overlap). spend as much as you can for the biggest you can get (large domestic are often too big for the domestic market, and too small for the commercial) avoid ex commercial stuff the are usually ragged to shi*. Try and keep trading up before too much goes to wrong adding as much £ to it as you can, youll soon end up with your Kubota after a few years
  10. Good topic, I started using QuickBooks desk top 2 years ago. My dad recommended it to me hes used a few, and finds it very simple (so I thought if he could do it id be a venerable bill gates) My problem now is Ive had to go VAT reg and set up a Ltd company. my accountant (who also recommends QB) has backdated my VAT reg and asked me to set up a new company on QB back dated to the new company start date. So,,, how do I import just the acconts from the start date?
  11. Hi, Im having problems with my Husqvarna 325 HE4 long reach pole petrol hedgecutter. the locking device to hold the cutters at a given angle doesn't hold it, ive had a look, but without stripping the gear end I cant see how it works, and if its just a case of an adjustment. any suggestions:confused1:
  12. Ive got a p10 on my kanga 620d. Flat level ground it works well, I usually only use it for the strainers, its like everything its a compromise, size to get in spaces means you lack a punch, too large you cant get in anywhere and its a hastle to move around. Ideally it helps with 2 people, one guiding the operator!
  13. Chelmer heating do an ecocat thing its on their website
  14. Bit of a sideways step. Im looking for a new topper (Second hand new) for my Massey 265 2wd. Im struggling to find any references to the reasonable maximum weight on the 3 point linkage. Obviously I appreciate that it depends on the location of the weight so to speak. The lift arms are rated for 1400kg lift, im looking at toppers around the 600kg weight
  15. Paslode for me, Can be a hassle in the winter if its very cold (but keep a gas in your pocket). Its in an easy carry case and can be locked in a truck easily cant be bothered with compressors etc
  16. what volume are you looking for?
  17. Just a word of warning. I recently had the magnetic signage stolen from my pick up, that following having a trailer stolen a few weeks ago. When i spoke to the police they were worried the signage may be used by scum to get deposits from people whilst appearing to be genuine. Anyone heard of this before? Not much i can do. Ive put aa big notice on the homepage of my website
  18. I started at 20% off everything, and it actually acts as a little savings account. Ive often bought equipment from it (which is deductable)
  19. Interesting conversation, Personally,,,, I started with absolutly nothing, when i got a job, i bought the equipment to do the job (could hire?) I would be really careful of buying good will/customers, as we dont "own" customers you could pay money for someone and they might never be a customer of yours. I know its a bit big school, but my dad sold a business and he wasnt allowed to trade within a 10mile radius for 3 years as part of the deal. If you are serious and good luck to you, id negotiate on the equipment you want, get him to chuck in the stuff you dont and get the list of customers for nothing. (play hard ball) Watch the 56 plates ive heard they have problems
  20. How big is your thumb?
  21. Hi Guys, Any recommendations on a long reach hedge cutter, I dont do much hedge cutting but need something that wont stop at the sight of a twig.
  22. Well, The only way i could figure it, Un did the top guard (plate that runs along next to the blade) Undid the both that holds the blade on (55mm) Then found the blade wouldnt come out without unbolting the blade brake, 2 bolts that pops off. Then take the blade out.
  23. First time on this bit of arb talk,,,, You millers are right vultures,,,!
  24. Hi Guys, just about to change the blade on a KIDD PTO driven sawbench,,, any one know the process? (ive tried to get a manual but cant find one) Also anyone know the size of the nut that holds the blade on? Many thanks
