  1. Hello Branston, think it's about time a case of your finest was on its way ! And to add another point, sent the mrs out shopping last night to provide for last nights tea. And guess what I'm on the beans again this morning ! How many other meals can you have for breakfast, dinner, tea, supper and not question it ?
  2. Agree , but one of my fav combinations was with scrambled egg. 2 slices of thick toast, one with beans, one with scrambled egg, then cut and combine at leisure!
  3. Got to the point where I had to use a skimming ladel to fish out the beans and leave the watery excuse of a sauce behind. Looks like its branston from now on. I see also they do one with Lincolnshire sausages . Can't believe I've let that escape my attention. Suppose I'd been brainwashed when I was a teenager believing it was Heinz or nothing.
  4. From time to time I have craved good old beans on toast and remember how much I enjoyed it as a lad. It always used to be Heinz but nowadays the beans appear to be watered down and not half as tasty. Are there any other brands out there that can reacquaint me with this classic meal ?
  5. Anyone know a supplier in the uk for a log peeling disc to fit a 7inch grinder ? I know they use them in the states for peeling big round logs.
  6. Looking for around 150 cube bags or .75 cube bags. The mca kingstone website dosent appear to be running!
  7. Do you have a link for that ? Can't find them at that price anywhere.
  8. Who's doing the best deals at the moment on vented log bags ?
  9. Well everyone on this site should be able to keep warm.
  10. Just wondered what the answers are to warped manifolds ?
  11. Of course it does ! right lubricant right application !
  12. I was surfing the internet and came across what is known as woodserve blog. Really interesting and informative. Just wondered how many of you have a blog for updating customers and marketing your services.
  13. Very dead. No danger at moment though, followed consultants advice to remove deadwood in crown. Was a bit scary.
  14. Some photos of some fine merrips.
  15. Cheers.Funny thing happened on the way home.Stopped to fill up with fuel and as I was hobbling to the checkout this old chap said 'take it easy fella i've not been too clever on ny feet this week either' !
  16. Ran the yorkshireman off road marathon yesterday. The terrain on this event is insane with almost a 1000 m climb to the highest point in west yorkshire, rubble boulders and deep boggy moors.Made things harder still for myself by running off route which had added an extra 6 miles ! to my garmin and by the time I had crossed the finish line I had run over 32 miles, phew.
  17. Has anyone got or plan to get the new Micro arb truc ? What are your thoughts on this product and are there better options.
  18. I store my firewood in bulk bags and in loose heaped piles and im trying to decide on the best system for loading logs for delivery. The dilemas are 1.how to load bulk bags into a truck for loose delivery and 2. how best to load loose logs. I have a tractor with loader but if thats busy on the processor i would need another tractor.Fine,im happy to do that but are there better options ie mini skid steer loader or something similar or is there a better system all together like constructing some sort of loading bay/dock.Any thoughts or ideas would be most welcome.
  19. I think you are flogging a dead horse.I believe that these sort of events have helped to highlight that such an industry exists and has helped people understand more about the product.I think that it is hard for firewood fairs to re invent themselves and will eventually bore the public at large. The want to be entertained at such events and if they think its just going to be the same lines of bulk bags in a slow auction they will not bother.I think it has served its purpose and should be allowed to die naturally.
  20. I have lost 2 stone in 5 weeks. That has coincided with giving up the drink, eating healthy and running again after a few years of niggling injuries.I was 17 stone at 5'10' and felt lethargic and uncomfortable. Now I get a high from getting up in the morning and feeling great. 3 pints of strong lager has over 1000 calories and when you consider that an average mans rec calorie intake is 2550 calories there is only one obvious outcome over a period of time.Experts say that an hours vigourous exercise stimulates the body to burn fat for 3 days ! Anyone considering making adjustments to their lifestyle may want to check out the new series of the 'hairy dieters' thu bbc2 8pm. Those tubby loveable characters had a few health scares and the series shows how you can still eat nice things but balance it out with days of discipline. They have lost 3 stone each since starting the programme
  21. You don't know how lucky you are. By Christopher Hope, Senior Political Correspondent,Daily Telegraph. 10:00PM BST 22 Jul 2012 Results from the Government’s first ever survey of National Well Being, published by the Office for National Statistics, are likely to show that people who work in farming, forestry and fishing are happier than others. So if you live on a farm,do a bit of forestry and go fishing in your spare time you have it sussed
  22. Building up slowly for some ultra marathons,a few shorter distances on the way and some marathons before yorkshire ultra marathon in Jan- 50 mile run. If training stays injury free looking to do the fellsman 110 miler in may. That has a 36 hour cut off and you run through the night !
  23. Went on a timber framing course a couple of years ago and we hewed green oak with side axes that have a bevel on one side.We used plumb lines to get everything level and the finish you can achieve with a very sharp axe is har to believe. It is hard work but very satisfying.
  24. What about using dowels ? you can make your own hardwood dowels with a veritas dowel cutter and if you glue them with a fast setting moisture curing polurethane adhesive they are going to be rock solid.
  25. I have been thinking about some of my first projects with milled planks and like the idea of outdoor table and benches.Do some of you use biscuits to join planks and looking at the size of some of the chunky table legs what's the best way of fixing these to make them sturdy ?
