  1. Just wanted to say thanks for your great service, delivery speed and prices Ordered a new top handle and a few bits and pieces late tuesday night and they arrived at lunchtime today. Well pleased, Ill definatly use you again
  2. Depends how much you are looking at having cut and the reasons why. the best way to get a decent price is to offer the timber for sale on a tender/bid basis, that way you are able to choose the highest bidder. I would be interested in coming and taking a look I will PM with my details. David
  3. Cheers Guys, the Agent went for a more local contractor in the end, (not that I blame him)
  4. If I do get the work I think that I would rather err on the side of caution and write into the quote that I will only be inspecting for obvious defects etc. Does anyone know a decent freelance tree inspector in the surrey area?
  5. Thanks for the reply, seems to be in line with what I have been told elsewhere. I think I will take a look and offer my advice, if there is anything that looks dubious I will pass it on to someone else.
  6. Been asked by a regular client to inspect some trees within a woodland and along a boundary of the road and carry out any action as required. Now from what I have been told by a few sources that to carry out tree inspection you need to be a suitably qualified arborist. I have not undertaken any profesional inspection courses, only what we were taught at college. I have all usual practical tickets, Fdsc Forestry and Woodland Management and half way through BSC (Hons) in arboriculture. I feel I could correctly identify obvious hazards and weaknesses within the tree, however if there is any issues with me doing the inspections I would rather Sub it out. If I can undertake the work then I would also need Personal Indemnity Insurance to cover myself? anything else required? Thanks
  7. Hi guys, Might have a harvesting job coming up near Cheltenham, so need to hire harvester and forwarder with operators from near that way. apporoximatly 1000 tonnes for hardwood, all processor sized. Please PM me if your interrested. David

I have been offered an artic load of seasoned cord at £50 per meter delivered(so weight will be irrelevant as the lorry will be full) how many meters of wood (not logs) should I be looking at getting? Just trying to work out costs etc Thanks
  9. As above, needed an artic load of well seasoned hardwood cord delivered to horsham area, must have been down for at least a year or so as I need to get it processed and turned around ASAP. Let me know what you have Thanks

  13. I know theyr all busy churning stuff out this time of year but im looking to hire a processor about 10 mins north of gatwick for 2 days at some point over the next month or two. Also looking to hire a small Digger/Excavator with a timber grab for 2 days, but if your local I would possibly like to hire more often. if anyone has anything please let me know. Cheers
  14. Thanks, Initially I thought pollard however BS3998 states that a pollard cant be initiated on trees over 200mm at pollard height. Is the tree officer likely to allow this?
  15. Thanks so far, hopefully I have attached some pictures. My client wants to down the loosing light route but from what I remember this is not a reason unless the owner enjoyed the light for 15 years prior? any ideas on the best way to approach this in terms of the appeal? usually Im not bothered about persuing TPO apps etc however in my opinion these trees are a bit on the big side for the property and my client is pulling his hair out!
  16. My clien has two huge pane trees in the front of his property (will try and add some photos), they block all light to the lower two floors of the offices. Both trees are in a conservation area and we requested that the trees be felled and replanted with smaller plane trees that could be pollarded/kept at a manageable height, as the trees are virtually un-molested the tree officer did not want them pollarded. the application was refused and the tree officer came back to me with a pruning spec of 20% thin and removal of all epicormic and said if the customer wasnt happy he would put a TPO on the trees and my client could restart the process but would have a chance of appeal when the request to fell would be refused. My question is how long does the appeal process take and what form does it take and is there any point? if I will just be appealing to teh same tree officer there is no point surley?
  17. Thanks guys. landowner said they would rather just leave the trees near to the lines rather than faff aound with getting another contractor in to fell them, Wheres the rules on wooden/metal poles?had a look in AFAG 804 but couldnt see it there?
  18. Thanks Alvin, Went to look at them today and could only see one sign that said SEEBOARD- So im guessing now EDF however there was nothing else giving power, contact numbers etc. It has 3 strands off a single wooden post (like a BT pole), I forgot to take any pictures but can anyone hazard a guess at the power of them?
  19. Are there any online maps that show the position, power and owner/Operator of electricity lines. trying to work out distances etc for some firewood felling next week. Cheers
  20. Hi, Been asked to provide completed AFAG guides and checklists for a contract that I have been given. now i have lots of AFAG guides but I cant find a checklist of anywhere to fill out the guides? Any ideas what they require? Thanks
