  1. Hi Jonny, We have a 2.2 ton machine with a fixed grapple that is used for woodand work. I also may be able to get hold of a 5ton with a fixed grapple. What sizes of timber and quantity will you be extracting, how far is the extraction? Pm me on here if your interested
  2. Good morning, I have a client with a Mature Oak on the boundary of his property that borders an neighbours house and garden and a busy A road on the other side. The tree is showing signs of regression and has a few Inonotus dryadeus brackets at the base. He would like to retain the tree where possible however he has had a few trees fall into the road before and is concerned that this will do the same. He is therefore looking for someone that can undertake a detailed survey on the tree, preferably using a fractometer or another tool to asses the actual extent of decay within this tree and advise on remedial measures that are required to preserve the tree. PM or relpy to me on this thread and I will get back to you. Thanks David
  3. Cheers for the replies. I like the Vemac one, however how does the single arm on the rear of the unit cope, it looks like it could be more prone to bending than the tude design of others?
  4. It will be on a 2.2 ton machine, It wont have a particularly hard life, but at the same time I dont want things breaking every other week!
  5. Just looking for some feedback from anyone that owns a 5 tine log grapple made by RSL or the Digbits solid tine grapple? Been looking at a few and I like the look of both of these but the RSL one is about £300 cheaper. Cheers
  6. Can anyone tell me what Hydraulic oil I need for my Hanix H22b digger? have changed a lot of pipework and it needs a little top up
  7. :angry:I would imagine that is where they are, however the reality is if I ever want a peaceful life I should probably just leave them there! its so frustrating!!
  8. Just a heads up to anyone around this way. Last night I had my MS 201,MS 260 and HS45 hedge cutters stolen from my saw cabinet- funnily enough they didnt take the MS660 that was in the same cabinet so I guess they are just after things that can be sold on quickly. Obviously any info would be appreciated however im sure nothing will come up.
  9. Hi Guys, My 360 is still at the fabricators having the grab played with so could do with someone with a small forwarding setup for a few days near to Uckfield, East Sussex. Small diameter birch, beech etc all cut to 2.8 Cheers David

    Mitox

Iv had my mitox combi tool for about a year, used once a week or so so not had a really hard life but so far it has been a great investment. A few small issues with it 1- the chainsaw attachment must be kept upright otherwise the breather hole leaks chain oil 2- the tensioner screw on the pruner has bent, not sure if it was like this from the factory or my big hands but it will only take 2mins to fix other than that great piece of kit for the money
  13. Thanks for the replies, the winch has a threaded bolt on the back that is used to adjust the tension on the back of the drum, just wondering how much/little movement there should be on the clutch arm. Sounds like we have had similar problems with both of our winches, just trying to establish if there should be any friction material on the sprocket or if it really is just metal to metal
  14. Picked up an old fransgard a little while ago that had a problem pulling in heavy loads. having stripped it apart the two friction plates (sprocket and winch drum) are just metal on metal, should there be some sort of friction material in there? Also does anyone have any guidance on how to adjust/set up the clutch? Thanks
  15. Im looking to hire a hydraulic splitter for a week or so, needs to be pretty strong and split lengths up to 1.7 meters. I will run it off my tractor. I am based near Gatwick and would be willing to travel for an hour or so to collect the right machine. Thanks David
  16. Not sure if anyone else has recieved the "request" from the forestry commission that all contractors sign up to FISA. Seems like if we want to keep working for them we will have to be joining FISA regardless!
  17. Where are you based, starting felling a lot of birch next week in East Sussex
  18. Without jumping on the thread, what if it were the other way round. Having a machine and operator booked only to be let down and your phone calls ignored at the last moment, staff still have to get paid for the day and it means you look unproffessional to the customer to say the least! What would you do in this situation?
  19. Sounds Useful Nick, Drop me a PM or text with a price for day rate and haulage down, postcode is BH20 7PA, Not sure where your coming from but the clock is ticking on getting the job finished now feeling a bit desperate!
