  1. It is great to see the change in attitude towards Aspen over the past few years. Three years ago, whenever Aspen was mentioned on this forum it was 'flamed' by many members and some quite 'heated' threads developed. Some of us with a knowledge of the product stood our ground whilst several outspoken members with no knowledge of the product at all did their best to put it down with claims of Aspen ruining saws. Whenever we tried to warn of the shortcomings of 'pump fuel' we were often shouted down. Many failed to believe that there was any problem with petrol, either for their saws or their health. So I am very pleased to see mostly very positive comments about Aspen now and that the shortcomings of petrol are now accepted. This has certainly been the year that Aspen has turned the corner and 'come of age' and nationwide sales have reached a record high. I predict that in another 3 years it will be accepted in the UK as the primary fuel for use in hand held equipment with petrol seldom being used. With this in mind it is really worth signing the petition now in the hope that the tax can be withdrawn or reduced before you all start using it. If you do not support the petition there is little chance, but there may be some chance if you do.
  2. In the meantime, keep signing this petition. It does not cost anything and only takes a minute. It just may be a very good investment in years to come.
  3. i know what you mean Steve, and I guess you know why I asked.
  4. What has the take-up been for Arbsafe Steve, has it been as good as you hoped?
  5. If a removal, or a reduction, of the tax does come about, wether as a result of this petition or other lobbying, it won't be quick. I would like to think it will happen one day, but in the meantime please do not hold off switching to Aspen. In general, Aspen users find the benefits far out way the costs.
  6. Thanks guys, thats 150 since kick starting the petition on Friday. Where are the other Arbtalkers???
  7. Only 2 signature so far today, has it all stopped?
  8. Shavey is quite correct. Solo has been aquired by the german company AlKo who are currently sorting out all the small issues with the product before launching it in full next spring. Alko is handled in the UK by Rochfords, who also have their own range of kit under their own brand name of Mitox. This is the only connection. 'Solo By AlKo' has no commercial connection with Mitox. Interestingly though, is that Rochfords have aquired the outdoor power equipment of Kawasaki which wiil be marketed under the Mitox brand next year. So do not dissmiss the Mitox brand, some of it is genuine pro kit.
  9. Blowers rev higher when the airflow from the nozzle is restricted. The fan no longer pushes air so the revs increase. A bit like wheelspin really.
  10. When did this become a sticky?
  11. Yes, kinda thought the same, Just wanted encourage the ones who have not signed.
  12. 2406views 130 signatures???
  13. Great stuff! 123 signatures added in the last 2days. Total now at 597. As I said in the OP, there are 20000 Arbtalkers, so at least 19400 have yet to sign.
  14. I put one in the car before our scottish road trip. I now have 2000 miles of memories on the computer.
  15. There is plenty of documented evidence on the effects of benzene and sulphur from petrol. It was this evidence which has lead to the introduction of the vapour recovery fuel pumps which we all now use at filling stations, and to the development of Catalytic converters on cars. I am not going to bother to post links as it is all easily found through google but results in incredibly boring reading.
  16. I have just come back in and read the last few pages with interest. I am very pleased to see the positive comments on Aspen from users as well as potential users. I agree that this petition with Change.org may have been the wrong one for Axel to start, but I guess he had his reasons. The government petition does seem a bit more official, but it needs 100,000 signatures within 12 months. Whether the change.org one is correct or not, it has only had just over 500 in 6 months. So its just not going to happen is it? But that does not detract from any of the advantages of Aspen, it just means that it won't be a bit cheaper. If its cost that prevents some people from using Aspen then I suspect they would not use it even at £16.00 per 5 litres. Lets keep the signatures coming on this petition though, it may still be of some use to those who are lobbying the government. But do not, under any circumstances, feel obliged to donate any money to change.org. If you really feel the need to donate money I will be pleased to PM my bank details.
  17. The petition has been running for months, but very slowly. 20% of the signatures have gone on in the last 24hrs since I promoted it on here, and my FB page, but its still much too slow. Nothing sells unless its advertised. Neither the product or the petition. To clarify, its not my petition. Just trying to 'bump' it along as the end result will be worth it, if and when it happens.
  18. I may have used the word 'meticulous' in the wrong context. The machine was filthy!!
  19. I am not a member of landscape juice, but if you are then I see no problem in you posting it there, just as I have here.
  20. My thoughts exactly. But at this rate its not going to happen, and thats a shame.
  21. Most couriers exclude the transport of hazardous material. Those who do carry it charge a lot more for delivery than you paid (assuming aspen at £18.98 and carriage at £11) Of course, some senders do not declare what they are carrying. Sorry for derailing my own thread! Back to the signatures!!!
  22. How was it delivered to you?
  23. A few of the carriers rules broken there then!!
  24. How the heck did you pay £30 for 5 litres? Did that include delivery?o
