Really-there is,I kid thee not.Ive bought a couple of the budget stihls, and some are were effing shitty. But I just flogged a year 2003 180 which has done stupid work, and in some ways,in spite of getting most of my money back-I felt a tad wistful.😳

    Ok .

Change it to what? This'll be the first time converting a saw for me.

    It arrives tomorrow

So that it engages with the splines of a 3/8ths set up . I could be wrong here but remember having to do that when changing a 357xp from .325 to .375 .

I was at the Chichester boys club where he was a leader. We first met on cycling events and later he'd call into the shop I worked at for a cup of tea and a chat, heavy with the smell of the nights charcoal burn.

Nothing but fond memories of an amazing character.

    Yes , a true local legend .

    Hey all,

as the title suggests I'm currently looking for a new hoover (for sweeps on 3 flues plus regular Esse 990 and Froling S4 servicing)

I've had a couple in the past but even though designed to cope with soot neither really stepped up to the mark and soon lost their suck.

Thought this maybe a good place to ask for recommendations before trawling a market I know nothing about

    Many thanks,

    Matt

I only sweep the one chimney but I have an early Henry . The one with the 2 speed button . Its all it gets used for . I always have a bag fitted to stop it clogging up though .

Morning, wide awake some 3.20am, something about a Saturday!  Had my coffee and toast and will just trawl through usual Apps on IPad until I head to a job around 6.30am to see if anything needs cut off for crane access.

Good morning Stephen . You are indeed early bud !

I did but am not a buyer at anything like the price offered. No worries, maybe someone else will buy them.

To be honest I would not buy a new , or second hand , or broken MS 180 all the while there is a hole in my arse . 🙂

Nope, not me. No disrespect, but @gobbypunk is asking for a fairly "full" price for these saws, having posted no pics nor really describing what parts are included or missing. Rather than 121 offers and rejections via Private Message, I'd strongly suggest he starts an auction on ebay, that's the way to get best price.

Good luck, its amazing what people are paying for spares or repair saws these days.

Oh sorry Muddy . I thought one of your posts said " PM sent " .

I believe he was considering doing it but not that he had already done it

Muddy42 sent him a pm  after he had posted anybody want them ? . Assumed that was a done deal but , as you say  just an assumption .

    1. 2. consider selling them as a job lot for spares or repairs. There's a market for used parts, and this could be the easiest way to recoup some value.

I think he has done that from the post above ...

  10. Went to Alan waters funeral today . It was overflowing . Apart from Mark Odin ( MJO Forestry ) and Matt and John from DM Chainsaws I did not know anybody . I must have known Alan for 25-30 odd years but only from in the woods . At the wake it was the same , I knew no one . He touched so many lives all over the place .

you could just have the wrong mount on the wrap bbr has just done a video on it .

Good spot . It is the old mount on his full wrap ( from the color ) If his saw is a mk2 then there is the problem .

I now worry about getting ferrex stuff from Aldi, not that I would knock it, my 40V 4" grinder has been a game changer for cutting hydraulic hoses and wire rope cleanly in the field. The problem is they sold the batteries too cheap, people bought them just to strip them of their cells such that spares are no longer available. I have the grinder, impact driver, drill and tyre pump with only three batteries to go between them and nearly got stuffed when the charger broke. I managed to get one off ebay from a bloke who bought surplus stock of chargers when Aldi bailed  out.

Now I'm thinking I will buy milwaukee stuff; has anyone tried their M18 chainsaws?

I have a stonking Milwaukee M18 SDS Max breaker .

Mgiht buy a brand new 353 for brashing trees only as currently doing it with 572s etc but they're now dying on me.

600 quid for a 353 brand new imported from Logs and Saws.

Heard they're hardy little things, which is whst I want for brashing as it is as rough as F on saws.

I'd rather not buy chains online etc and I'd rather make my own and I use Husky 3/8ths.

How well would this saw perform sharpened every fill with a 15 inch bar 3/8?

Also how do I go about doing this, is it a case of just changing the rim sprocket and getting a new bar?

    Thanks

You need to change the plastic oiler gear as well I seem to remember .
