A lot of egg on a lot of faces me thinks if that ever gains traction.

I hope it does . I would not buy one . The feckers catch fire ! You also have to factor in the cost of the mining of the lithium , dragging it a cross the ocean in a hurking great ship  then , later on the disposal of the dud batteries .

  2. Any way , a recent study has concluded that electric vehicle now pollute considerably  more than the equivalent  petrol powered vehicle . Because they weigh more  their tiers and brakes wear out quicker releasing higher toxic particles than those that come out of a petrol engine tail pipe . I still think Hydrogen is the way forward . I believe Toyota have produced an engine that runs on liquid hydrogen in the same way a petrol engine does in as much as you just fill the tank like you would petrol and of course the only thing that comes out of the exhaust is H2O .

Thanks. I can genuinely say ive never felt worse than this last few days. I've made the decision to put older dogs to sleep before and it's horrible but you understand why you're doing it. This time is different. Herself not being here or even contactable during it all added to it.

To top it off, his last act was to bite me out of a mix of fear and pain.

I got no words matey . Awful for you all .

I've rather set my heart on an ms241 as a good all-rounder to keep in my works vehicle for the summer season. Most of my chainsaw work is Oct-March really.

But I cant justify paying close to ms261 money for a new one tbh-its just overpriced imo.

I've missed out on one or 2 tidy ones on ebay due to the vagaries of auctions.

So, I've come across a ms240 on a 2nd hand machinery dealer described as privately owned/well maintained for £295+vat-so £350 odd, which is fine by me.Just unsure when the 240 turned into the 241?

I'm stihl-ms240-chainsaw-a.jpg.112b7c9ed43c66128c27a95cb298f47a.jpgstihl-ms240-chainsaw-d.jpg.8f0e5867ff4474419ad30da636049588.jpgstihl-ms240-chainsaw-d.jpg.8f0e5867ff4474419ad30da636049588.jpgguessing this item is pre 2010,which is fine, also assuming I'd get rubber rather than spring-based av system.Just cosmetically speaking, I'm not mad on the look of the air filter shroud catch which looks just like  the 170/180 setup.Any thoughts opinions would be welcome.

Nope , no thoughts at all . 🙂

Well here I found a piece of crab apple without bark on when I removed the tree from a hedgerow during the winter so I kept it in the workshop.

    It's dried out now ...

    Totally random but natural

Vaguely related to this thread, I've just got a new chain for my MS 261, as I damaged a drive link or two when it came off a day or two ago. I run a 14" bar on it, basically it's the one for the MSA 300 and while looking, I found out that it's a full chisel. ( Apparently ). Seems odd to me, I hope I can just sharpen it normally as I would a semi chisel, normal round files.

Any thoughts or advice on this gratefully received as always.

If its " round ground " full chiz ( most likely ) then yes , the appropriate round file . If its " square ground " full chiz ( unlikely ) then no . You would need the proper files for square ground .

Canada has since really taken up the torch from the US. Though they actually do more overall logging stateside, Canada still has more untouched wilderness. Still, it's all the northwest, or PNW as we say. We're all the same team, and we all use the same equipment.

I used to be friends with two brothers that were fallers in Canada . Lee and Jake Laduciure  . They used to send me " west coast " type saws for me to sell on here in the UK . It must have been 20 years ago now. I couldn't work as I was recovering from a motorcycle accident . Not heard from them in a long time now . Hope they are ok .

These doubles can also be useful as a handy reference to know where you started sharpening or filing rakers, if your chain is very clean.

Check my answer a few posts back 🙂

Question from and old thread, is it normal to have two teeth consecutive on the same side of the chain?

    Never seen this personally.

Hello everybody by the way, love the site, tremendous resource of solid advice and information.

    Makes me laugh too 🙂

Yep the 14" or was it 12" ? on an 020 always had that . Used to use it as a start / finish guide when sharpening .

And as to hedgehogs-which struggle of course-leaving aside the road carnage.I know of only 2 animals that are effective killers-tho there are possibly more.A terrier will watch and wait,as soon as the wee creature eventually re-opens its body, they pounce, again and again etc.The best killer tho is the badger,I work at a property with a huge network of setts, its fairly routine to walk the woodland paths and find hedgehog skins inverted and tossed aside like discarded banana skins.Whilst I'm not into the lets kill badgers coz of tb gig,They are like us-opportunists/omnivores.Curlew /pheasant/duck nests-all eggs gone.Really big lamb bodies in the woods completely beheaded-they just take the Brains-best bit. They dont mess about!

Yes Badgers do peel hedgehogs . Have seen it myself .
