Would a very light vegetable/sunflower oil be ok?

Seem to remember Ray Mears carving some nice sweet chestnut chopping boards.

Utility companies will want their pound of flesh but probably be better quality of work there ( assuming its only arb work you want ).

General landscaping/arb companies may be slightly less pressure but you could find yourself say in a spraying squad in spring and summer and fencing aswell as doing treework.( theres no guarantee this couldn't happen in utilities)

Alot will depend on how you are treated as an individual anyway and finances.

You know how cats rub their cheeks on things to mark them? She does that to those dogs! Even on their snouts etc. Its bizarre.

i get woken several times some nights by the sound of a big old saw that refuses to catch,mrs oldwoodcutter could snore for england but a gentle elbow in her ribs and i can usually settle down again.

As I said earlier I have two cats , both strays, one an abandoned kitten who is now 18 and the other rescued 2 years ago from the extreme winter. Both would not have survived there situation.

They are both dearly loved pets and I will have NO-ONE suggesting otherwise especially folk that don't have a clue about animals or their welfare.

As long as the responses are kept above board and do not get out of hand there is not even an issue here.

Last year I was buying ex wood yard at below £1 ea, 6ft mixed cleft & round, good stakes, if you look in a garden centre or diy store they are up to £2.50 ea

I have the mcveigh parker catalogue here and Chestnut rail sawn posts (twin mortices) retail at £7.14 / metre + vat.

Chestnut cleft rails are £8.13/metre + vat.

I know I would pay good money to have my horses on paddocks as good as that. you could be choosy about who your clients were and get them to clear out their own muck etc.. A winter turn out area would be a bonus to keep them in tip-top condition.
