  1. Hey there, I'm interested in the vacancy but is this for someone with experience? I'm in my first year of college studying forestry and looking for related work. Cheers for any info

Hello huskyboy, I just printed this off word for word from the Aberdeen press & journal so dont know any other info. Sounds like someone experienced their after but you never know , theres no harm in letting him know your intentions. :thumbup1:

  2. Well, this is the thing. Customer want felled, FC bloke wanted pollarded. And I know pollarding will kill an old pop like that, so gawd knows why FC bloke suggested pollard. Once we had a proper gander up top though, it was clear that there was no point in doing what we wanted, which was reduction in height and drop-crotch pruning of side branches as the whole lot is already well on its way out. We're hoping customer gets felling licence granted again in new year as otherwise he's going to end up with a quartet of telegraph poles!

lol!! just having abit of banter Pedro, professional job my friend

  3. I'm not a carver so excuse my ignorance, but you seem to use the burnt aspect to great effect, gives it real contrast.

P.S .. notice you are in Belgium , wife and i been there a couple of times just touring about seeing where we end up. We were in France aswell but hated it and couldn't wait to get back to Belgium, great place.:thumbup1:

  4. McConnachie Land & Forestry Services have a vacancy for a forester. The role will primarily include supervising forestry operations and carrying out forest survey work. Applicants should send a c.v and covering letter to

Ranald McConnachie Land & Forestry Services , 7 Marleon field, Elgin IV304GB

    email:[email protected]

  5. That's a young hedge to use as an example mind mate.

25 on 5 sounds compact to me, but I don't know feeding/shelter arrangements there. It might be a really tidy set up with a lot of exercise off paddock?

If it's iffy, don't be afraid to put in a call.

    Good shout.:thumbup1:

  6. Have you considered the horses are using the hedge for shelter as that is the area churned up? RSPCA often not aware of animals suffering and unless you know horses would you also know and ill animal? Worm burden will be very high with that number of horses even removing the muck.

I'll bet some of them have horrendous mud fever aswell and overgrown hooves. Unless she is a lottery winner or drug dealer theres no way she is paying for a farrier.

  7. In all seriousness rover... the woman sounds a crackpot.

If the horses are in the field while you are working they will be over..guaranteed, with some of them careering about.

I'd be willing to bet a fairly modest amount you will have a vet bill like no other come through your door when your finished.

I would be insisting the horses are out of the field or at least cordoned off.

  8. Cheers mate wouldn't be used for long periods just for the clear up when I'm finished. If you ever need a hand mate give us a shout

Been really struggling on my own lately. I desperately need to get in touch with someone locally as my usual hand is a bit out of reach now although he tries his best to assist me.

P.S .. I generally dont mix with your ' macho arb types ' but if your a genuine tree/nature person who takes health &safety seriously I would be interested in teaming up on a job in the near future with you .

  9. Training and Health section on here mate, massive amount of info, big thread which should come up with a search.

    Epicondical clasp

    See a physio

    Take glucosamine

    Change your climbing technique

And yes, you will need to rest.

I've got mine under control now, but two years ago I thought I was finished.

    Good luck with it mate.

    Exactly the same as above.

Also try massaging a wet ice cube on to area. Masses of people on hear suffer.

  10. Its fuuny if iwas pricing a job for example scrub clearance under my own steam id be happy with £180 all inclusive of fuel, delivery and my wage, if however someone else was using it and i wasn't in charge of the processing or work rate (ie day rate), I'd want nearer £280, thats if id even want to do it at all. actually i would, id hire one then use that so my machine doesn't get abused

I just remember at paying over £200 for a few hours chipping i should be ENTITLED to an operator! :confused1:

  11. Fair enough, I was toying with the idea of buying something like a greenmech so it'll get anywhere and hiring me and it out but if it's not gonna work I'll not bother 

I wouldn't totally rule it out . Not many companies ( two i think ) do it up here. I hire one out now and again and i see the cost is £180 plus delivery and fuel for chipper now , thats without operator. To me there must be a wage in there somewhere for an operator .

  12. This is quite interesting because I am desperately needing a bigger saw but with the new 50cc husky coming out in spring I am very reluctant to purchase a 346xp. If the 560xpg is as good as you say it could well fill a little niche in the market and i think will have to look at this saw seriously.
