  1. As the desired copper beech cultivars don't grow true from seed, the nursery stock are grafted somehow, somewhere, but as the tree expands massively the graft union must be pulled around a bit. Several threads about copper beech grafts onto common beech seedlings, most of the big trees pictured the graft is much closer to the ground. If there are branches coming out below the graft they should be wild type leaves, not purple
  2. a knackered old sycamore with new healthy stems growing up through the hollow trunk (and out through a hole at the side)
  3. It's obvious immigrants are the reason we need to destroy the countryside to make way for more housing, this is far worse a problem than a few of them who become violent killers. Yes it's heartbreaking for the victims families, and gets tribal/racial feelings going, but to have the whole country clogged up with sevices overloaded is far worse. Anyway, Labour are here for years, no amount of typing text will do anything about it. The vigilantes arent going to forcibly deport a few hundred thousand people each and every year, until the population levels off. A managed decline in GDP, population and if necessary to achieve the second even living standards, would be my choice. Fewer people and a smaller public purse.
  4. Corbyn would have solved the 20 billion shortfall by taking 10k from each of 2 million rich folk, he could do that quite a few times before the rich would be tapped out. The upstanding, diligent pillars of the community would call it theft. They know their superior brainpower entitles them to boss around spastik people like me who cant achieve what they have. The captains of industry will only be masters of the universe if the government lets them treat ordinary people as wage slaves. Apart from being soft on immigration and building too many houses, Labour arent too bad. Nationalise all water would be good, even with incompetent government managers at the helm, with no dividends going out, there would be a huge saving. All private ownership haseven done is load utilities with debt and continue to pay dividends while not investing in repairs and upgrades. Id pay more tax for a nationalized defence factories, shipyards, hairdressers even
  5. What? you've bought the RR of chainsaws and haven't bothered to read the user manual? Seeing as it's called 500i - try running it on 500:1
  6. I've only managed one cider - but it has helped me see Harris needs to open up her circuitry and merge with Braverman. At least then they could get a version of the Rwanda scheme up and running. Democrats getting tough on immigration would be a good alternative to Trump and his rather extreme fraternity
  7. I didnt vote Labour, but I think they were right on this. Israel has destroyed their home and treated all Palestinians as enemies. If the Arabs cant group together with enough firepower, then Israelis can continue their killing and landgrab unchecked. Organisms in the environment
  8. I'd like to see you spend 3 months in Gaza, living with the Palestinians, yes you've been in conflicts, but nothing that hot I bet. If the Israelis aren't bullies, then my perception of the world is distorted What they are doing in the West Bank is similar to the Germans with their Lebensraum The concept of Lebensraum—or “living space”—served as a critical component in the Nazi worldview that drove both its military conquests and racial policy.
  9. Resilience comes in many forms In the fall of 1968, Donald J. Trump received a timely diagnosis of bone spurs in his heels that led to his medical exemption from the military during Vietnam.
  10. Things are bad now with homophobes and pride and trans all these new considerations, but back in the day when they tried to cure Alan Turing by pumping him full of female hormones to hopefully stop his urges, things were even worse. A top scientist who helped crack Enigma and win the war, hounded and prosecuted.
  11. So Trump and Biden both have pervy accusations against them, but Kamala hasn't yet been caught - she's bound to have some dirty secrets though, if even it's only dodgy fantasies that one day can be unlocked by an MRI type scanner to finally discover the sordid truth
  12. The total cumulative risk in the first 25 years of life was 1 in 194 for males and 1 in 214 for females. So approx one young person in 200 gets cancer by age 25 Children, teenagers and young adults UK cancer statistics report 2021 - NDRS DIGITAL.NHS.UK Children, teenagers and young adults UK cancer statistics report 2021 I would argue that until you find a way of providing the same amount of food without glyphosate, it is safe enough - otherwise would the other 199 out of 200 not be getting cancer? I don't dispute modern chemicals can be carcinogenic, but cancer in young people is still rare - I mean one person in 200 has something devastating happen that kills them/ ruins their life, whereas 199 out of 200 are cancer free by age 25
  13. We're not the only ones having trouble with immigrants Israel’s West Bank settlement policies violate international law, says UN court
  14. The Times didn't bother with this 'story' I wonder why Republican National Convention dubbed 'the Grindr Superbowl' after gay dating app crashed due to spike in users in Milwaukee | Daily Mail Online WWW.DAILYMAIL.CO.UK More than 1,000 users reported a Grindr outage in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area around 4pm on Tuesday, according to data from website Downdetector.
  15. cant offer a recommendation for operator, but had this discussion with a chap who flailed hedges as a farming contractor, he said the big machines can mash up quite thick stuff, cant remember exactly how thick, Ive seen the aftermath on thorn, with maybe 8 inch stems chewed across
  16. It's like back in the sixties and seventies when statisticians and other bores began to lecture the free public about the dangers of smoking, if these busy bodies werent smokers themselves why should their opinion matter?
  17. I hope they dont pull the plug, seems a much more worthy cause than the gulf war, anyway as you say, best just to stick to posting memes and leave opinion pieces to the self appointed experts, leaves more time the real world
  18. why did I even imagine there would be a sensible, honest reply?
  19. so what is your view on ex marine Vance being against US supplying Ukraine with arms? What would you do in his shoes re Ukraine?
  20. this Vance character seems alright in some respects, marine to author to senator, not a layabout, or career politician, however he has been totally against support for Ukraine. He has nailed his colours to the mast
  21. apparently there are 20 million AR15s in US now (approx) - the potential is huge
  22. at least capitalize his name fanboy
  23. looks like the bar should be flipped over to even out the wear
  24. No doubt an experienced pro assassin gun for hire would have used something more accurate - I was merely saying that Trump has now seen some of the negative effects of freedom to own assault rifles - apparently the shooters father bought it legally
  25. well now you're putting it like that it becomes patently obvious the issue is far too complex for someone like me to even begin to understand, so off the net for me and back to simple manual tasks
