  12. ps absolutely agree about dragging brash for a year or so makes them better tree workers cos they know what its like to clear after others terry
  13. your right but the original msg was regarding those, also as an approved contractor i still have to induct staff with basic h&s training ppe awarness noise vibration etc etc if they are dragging brash to chipper are they feeding it. an arb site is a dangerous place for anyone letalone with no training at all dont get me wrong i agree that there is no interview that will show what an individual is worth better than on site experience but there are lots of pitfalls in having completely untrained personnel on site
  14. having employed 20 staff and being an instructor assessor for these units i can see and understand both points of view its kind of the chiken and egg story but entry level certificates of competence are vital in fullfilling H&S requirements but in most cases wont suffice in starting your own co terry

  16. ps there is HV abc conductors or erricson they look similar to untrained eye but have yellow hv tags at the end of all spans terry
  17. hi dave your technically right lv abc is insulated but not for tree climbers we still class this as weatherproofing and your absolutely right about maintaining vz the biggest problem with lv seems to be complacency terry
