The guy I brought it from has spent a fair bit of cash on it. Had a complete engine rebuild last year costing £2500 so engines good, the chassis is really solid, going to undercoat it before the winter and already has heavy duty steering arms. It's got a nearly new set of general grabber at2 on which gave me good grip when we pulled over and ash with it. Going to look at getting a winch for pulling things over.

After looking at lots of hilux's, navara's and l200's i ended up buying a 110 200tdi Landy to use for work. Already provedto be really useful, mainly because of its towing capacity. I'd like to know from any Landy owners what kit or bits you've brought for yours that you can recommend to help with tree surgery/forestry? Like wise anything you've brought that has turned out to be a waste of cash. Cheers All

Don't know how far away you are but you could try turners fencing on the ashdown forest. Good stuff and not expensive.

If you live near the ashdown forest in Sussex you can get lottery funding for around 55 to 60 percent of the course. Did mine for around £350.

The company I work for is based in Eastbourne and they're getting none stop calls from the council to take down elms in Eastbourne. This year seems to be one of the worst for Dutch elm in recent years. Give it 2-3 years and they'll be none left in Eastbourne.

After all of the on going problems were having with our wood stack does anyone know of a piece of land we can rent to store the wood on. It's a long shot but just wonder if anyone knows of a farmer with land or a bit of waste land we could rent would be greatly appreciated. Cheers tim

I've been stripping bits off the saw to see what could be with being replaced and have got onto trying to fix the broken chain break. Only after taking off the side cover and handle there doesn't seem to be any form of chain break. Does anyone know if it came with one, or is it a case of someone has just removed it when it broke? Also what can be done to fit a chain break to the saw? Cheers All

Have taken the nut off the sproket on mine, removed the clutch shoes, but i cant get the sproket or the washer off the saw. Does it pull off or is it screwed on?

After browsing the free papers today, i saw a stihl 14" saw for sale fot £70 ono. After a phone call and a 10 mile trip, i came back with a 020 avp. Managed to knock a tenner off the price. Probably paid over the odds for it but its almost an antique. Going to fix the broken chain break and use it as a chipper saw. Have got no idea on the age, but its got made in "west germany" on the side. Love it.

I've got a pair of mendal boots. Paid about £130 for them, find them really comfy to wear which was the most important thing for me. Only thing I've found is working in brambles and gorse has Cut the leather alot. But the gortex still keeps my feet dry.

After speaking to the to the planning solicitor it turns out that the council are right and you do need permission to import and process wood. He said we stand a better chance of getting permission for a wood yard if it's in the woods in the first place. His advice was to just try and keep on the good side of them, start moving the wood with a trailer and see how we get on. Then apply for permission to start a wood yard in our woods. Thanks for all the help to everyone who has tried to help. I think were just going to start moving it with a trailer, a little bit a time. Then if I come across anyone who has the ability to move it get them to do it. I'd also like to look for a proper yard round our way so if you hear of anything let me know. Ill give you a wave if I see you. Again cheers all. -

Did read my pm's, Birch Grove estate doesn't have any equipment like that, but I'll look into the hardys and the farm by the sloop. Thanks for the number will give him a ring and see if he can help. Are you the tree surgeon with the disco and the 110? Currently were waiting for some form of official documents from the council out lining what we have done wrong and what we need to do about it. My dads neighbor is a solicitor and has passed on the number of a guy who just deals with planning law. So were going to talk to him with reguards to where we stand and if we can fight it. Never knew it would be such a pain to process some cord into logs. -

Yeah it is the stuff stacked by the coach. I live on tanyard lane, you must be fairly local then? Spoke to a guy called Adrian Scott who my dad knows, he gave us the number of another guy who moves turners wood for them, and he's not free until September. Can't think of anyone else to try. -
Having phoned the council and checking it was alright to dump 80 tonnes of beech cord in our field, they have now said we have 3 months to move it all as we didn't apply for permission to import and process timber to the site. To save us killing ourselves over the next few months and moving it by hand does anyone have or know of someone with a tractor and trailer with timber grab that we can pay to move it for us. The wood is currently in a field in Danehill, Sussex and will be moved to a bit of forest we own in Birch Grove, Sussex. A round trip of approx 2 miles. Any one know of anyone in the area Cheers Tim

Sorry should have put I need it to be petrol/diesel engined. Sadly haven't got a tractor to run a hydraulic/pot driven one. Also needs to be around 10 tonne.

Stihl 361 for me, didn't like the 260. Its a little bit heavier with alot more grunt. If your lucky you may find a dealer who's still got one.

I've heard Monkey Puzzle wood is worth a fair bit to a mill or a furniture maker, not sure if its true but you maybe able to earn a few more quid.

I'm in Mid Sussex, had been looking for cord wood for ages so i put an add on woodlots. Got a phone call from a guy who has the wood stacked about 10-15 minuts from me. Apart from this one phone call i havent been offered anything else. Slim pickings. -

I'm buying 75+ tonnes of Beech that's been seasoned for 18 months for £2800 plus £150 delivery per load. If it works out exactly 75 tonnes that works out at £1085 per load and roughly £45 per tonne delivered. Not sure if that's a good price or not but round me there is nothing available so its that or nothing. -
Went and had a look at the stack yesterday. Took an axe so I could see how hard the wood is. Every piece I hit was solid still, even the 3-4 inch stuff so even it being out that long has not done anything.
