  1. Surely it would need brakes if over 750 kgs? So may be fine if the forwarder was 650 and the dolly less than 100. It does take a bit of practise to reverse but is very manoeuvrable, if one really struggles a tow ball on the front bumper is a great advantage (have a it of experience manoeuvring very long market stalls with turntables) but in this case, just drive it off:001_cool:
  2. Probably easier. The weight is quite low (650 kgs or so, depending on spec etc) but it's 5.5m long so you'd need quite a big trailer.
  3. Should be ok, as not any different from a normal turntable trailer surely? Provided you can properly lock the steering and link the brakes to an overrun.
  4. Good vid, glad you're getting on ok with the 192. I forgot to tell you but when I got it, one of my 4year-olds picked it out the box, felt the weight of it and her little face shone like a moonbeam when she said: "Dad, that's soooo nice of you to get a little saw for me and my sister, it's just the right size for me!" She was a bit disappointed when I said she could not have a chainsaw till she was at least 7:biggrin:
  5. Why has the stump in the top pic got what looks like an extra cut a bit lower down?
  6. Here you go, you can log in as a guest. I'm sure die Deutsche leute can "speak a bit across the border" Fachverband gepruefter Baumpfleger e.V. - Sonstiges
  7. There's often more than one week in a month in Germany:biggrin: When I go to work in euro-land I aim to make at least €250 a day. That's not in arb though, and all cash-in-hand as well. Would you be looking to work there for some time, or a short burst? 2500 a month minus taxes sounds ok, but you'll probably pay 25% income tax, rent(?) council tax equivalent etc and you'll probably find your living costs somewhat inflated. If you have to rent accommodation in Berlin there will probably not be a lot left. Is there not a network of Baumpfleger on the German interweb?
  8. As per title really, I've a load of roadside trees to come down and just found out that the section of road they're on will be closed for a day for some roadworks a bit further up the road. First thought was whoohoo, saved me a load of hassle as we'd planned to take the quadtrack (BIG articulated tractor, for the uninitiated) and tug them over into the field as a fair few of them have got a decent lean towards the road. The field has got autumn-sown barley in though, and it would do a fair bit of damage. So, if the road is closed anyway, can I just drop the buggers on the road and make sure the road is clear when it re-opens? I spoke to the foreman for the road-team and all their traffic will be coming from the other side, there is one house between the trees and the works, the owner of which would not mind. Any pitfalls in my plan?
  9. What sort of frequency do these sonic cleaners run at? I was wondering if I could set up a little makeshift one by taping an old speaker to a little tub full of white spirit or something? I've aquired a 2nd hand carb that looks a bit cruddy, got a new carb kit for it but would like to make sure it's all clean first and no time to visit a saw-shop. Do these thing run on old-school reggae ok, or would a bit of folk-rock be better?
  10. Don't think there's any female mods? And they can lock a thread without commenting or posting on it. And as international women's day has been and gone, I reckon it ought to be a man!
  11. Silky! with a couple of bits of coloured electricians tape on the handle if you must, and a good telling off if you loose it!
  12. Compost and such like in garden centres is often sold in bags that state "X Kg when filled" Or "X Ltr when filled", I'm sure suppliers of such will get the odd spot-check from TS to check whether or not that's actually true. As long as there is the name and address of the producer on the product so it can be traced.
  13. Looks like you were in control. I know nothing of crane dismantles, but what's with the "throttle blipping", is there a technical reason or just the way you like to work?

  15. Just a thought, in general as well as specific to my needs at the mo... I'm working in Beds at the moment, and collecting a fair bit of wood as I go (I lay hedges) I have a few (hundred) metres of hedge left, including one where I need to fell 10 or so mature ash, and loads of smaller 6" to 12"-ish ones. This will hopefully leave me with a nice bit of firewood, but I live 75-odd miles away... So, I wondered if anyone ever swaps any wood, say someone from Peterborough has a load of wood near my home in Lincs, approximately equidistant from where I am in Beds... I know it may get a bit awkward swapping stuff rather than just agreeing a price, and it may not be that easy in my case anyway as there's a fair bit of short/small/awkwardly shaped stuff, but if it save two people travelling miles in opposite directions, it may be worth the hassle? Does anyone swap wood at all?
  16. The pump, and engine (if good) would easily be up to the job, but... Even the most knackered fork-lift (which will likely have a worn pump and engine) will cost a fair bit, just due to the fact that they weigh so much(scrap). If you can find one with a decent pump and engine for less than £1000 I reckon you're doing well., then you'll have to spend a fair while converting it to how you want it to work etc. That £1000 could buy you a reasonable part of e decent, purpose-built, tried and tested log-splitter.
  17. Looks awesome! Did you build it in situ at DFS?

  19. The last time I moved house, I found over £350 in small coins, I'd lived there for 18 months or so:blushing:
  20. Hi Andy. Have you got any Lawson's Cypresses (Chamaecyparis lawsoniana)? I'm also after some Swamp cypresses (taxodium distichum). Cheers, Daniel
  21. "G" is normally about £30-£50 extra:confused1: And worth that!
  22. Cheers chaps, that's the sort of gems I need:thumbup1: Though I've not been to a fast-food chain for quite a few years now, will generic supermarket straws do as well?
  23. Just curious to find out how many files you guys use up, I often use 1 for each chain (15") but have been using some of the oregon multicut which seems to blunt the file quicker. And is there any use for old files?
  24. It's a bit of bark.
