  1. Yes, but it's always good to have more than one string to your bow.
  2. Put up a sign saying ; DANGER WASP nests in log stack seems to work a treat!
  3. Cheers Steve, had a look at their website , but couldn't see any offers on their chains at the moment.
  4. Strewth thats cheap for a 13 inch chain, do they look well made, any problems so far with them.
  5. Well i have had my Hakki 2X for 7 or 8 years, it does a fair bit of volume per year, i have had no major problems with it, just had to replace wearing parts every now and then.
  6. Better that than rogue traders:thumbup:
  7. Looks like the Famous Grouse to me.
  8. Large piles of woodchip get pretty hot whilst drying, any danger of spontaneous combustion.
  9. I would of thought we had plenty of chestnut coppice here in Kent to help support the biomass market, don't forget that the pulp mill at Kemsley used to take 250,000 tonnes of it a year out of Kent and East Sussex before they closed Kemsley down.
  10. No unfortunately i never recovered my money from them, but i did accidently trip on their lawn whilst carrying glyphosate one evening.
  11. Cash only for me now, had a couple of cheques bounce in the past and if there is one thing that gets my blood pressure up it's a bounced cheque.
  12. Tim - you could always put an ad in South East Farmer, plenty of farmers in Sussex and Kent who have mature coppice on their land. The problem is the lack of woodsmen . Those that are still felling are quite rightly now earning better wages than before for what is back breaking, dangerous work.
  13. Hornbeam burns well, throws out a lot of heat. Seasoning takes a year, although if processed and split and left out during summer it will season in 6 months.

    Mayfly

Yes their is a 3.5 acre lake next to the woods where i am working, they don't seem to like the shady parts of the woods so their is some respite from them.

    Mayfly

I have never seen such huge numbers of Mayfly in our woods, getting in your eyes, in your ears, up my conk. That on top of woodants crawling up my legs nipping all the way up, mossie's biting wherever there is bare flesh, think i will have to get Ray Mears in to teach me how to survive in deepest Kents hostile woodlands.
  16. Think i might of sent him on his way with my boot up his @rse !
  17. Also M. Large offer a great back up service in getting parts out to you quick, so little down time with the machine. Operators manual and parts list is a bit confusing, but the M Large guys product knowledge is good if you can understand the Irish accent.
  18. The cables in the gap between the infeed conveyor and the main body of the machine look exposed to snagging as well. Think i will stick to my Hakki Pilke 2X on it's sixth year now and no major problems so far.
  19. If your from the South East, i would use sweet chestnut, splits nice and easy, reasonably priced, poles are nice and straight.
  20. 1200mm long, thats a mighty big log Steve:biggrin:
