  7. thanks for the comments i'll keep you all posted on how its works both positive and negative, as for the name i'm not sure, its half jelte prussic half gurth hitch all with a twist, i'll have a think on that one.

  12. sorry about the picture quality but heres for those who's had the same sleepless nights as me.
  13. in the picture i've just tied a single fishermans but doubled it now, i'll get a few more pictures up later of the whole thing from scratch.
  14. craig-d had one similar but that was only looped then gurth hitched. the one i have done is slightly different.
  15. looks like frost damage to me to.
  16. had a good climb on it and give it some stick just to see if the base twists would tighten up but they didn't as for the retrieval i know what you mean but after a couple of climbs i guess i'll find out if it does or doesn't but on the first attempt it came out a treat. we shall see.
  17. sorry for being long winded. I have the pinto on a rope guide but don't like the idea of splicing eyes into the pinto its self, so then i can use it else where, so the next thought would be the spacer, but don't have one so then i used 2 double fishermans onto each eye of the pinto but found the knots real bulky and found retrieval hard. so then jelte prussic but found this to bulky on the rope guide, so now it kept me awake all night last night thinking and i came up with this. sorry if its already been done, or thought of or even has a name, but hope this helps everyone whos had the same problem.
  18. great photos people, please keep them coming. love the swan matt:thumbup1:
  19. nice to see it turned out well david, so you have any future management for the oak, or are you going to wait a little while longer. to me it has come back quite vigorous, is the tree showing any signs of growth to compensate the loss of the limb.
