  1. Ive been looking at licence categories and vehicle weights and I never realised how little flexibility I have with just a B licence! Most chippers I looked at weigh just under the legal weight for a towing a trailer for cat B. I looked at landy tippers and most weigh just over 3000kg and the legal weight for a vehicle is 3500kg. How much would a full chip box add to the weight of, say for example, a 110 defender single cab tipper, with greedy boards. Just out of curiosity
  2. I agree with you lads I think the 6 wheeled landies look great! Id love one. I just saw this on ebay it looks like one hell of a peice of kit.
  3. Just curious lads can you get any right hand drive mogs or are they all left hand drive? I was just browsing on atkinson vos looking at dream arb equipment (as you do:001_tongue:) and the ones they are selling on there are all left hand drive im sure?
  4. Cheers pal ill give him a go
  5. Im looking for someone to give me some training for a couple of CS tickets. The problem is I cant take a whole week off to do it at the colleges. I found a bloke that was going to do it starting this Sunday but for one reason or another I cant get in contact with him. Does anybody else do or know of anyone with a similar sort of set up? Im looking to train on weekends or afternoons as a pay as you go sort of thing. If anyone can do that sort of thing then please give me a text or a call 07970 298286
  6. You will not be disappointed. Im really determined and motivated will do any work you have. I drive vans every day in my current work so im used to driving. Im in the process of sorting CS30/31 and chipper tickets. Along with category B+E licence courses. If all goes to plan I will have all of them by the end of October. Any work anybody might have please get in contact with me im really eager to get my career going! Transport isnt a problem I can go almost anywhere within West Midlands and Warwickshire. I can get my own PPE and a saw if the work calls for it. 07970 298 286 [email protected] Any work possibilities im sure we can work something out im very flexible.
  7. I can drive yeah I have a fair but of experience when it comes to driving even though im only 18. I used to drive off road, I have safe driving qualifications and I drive vans every day at my current job.
  8. I was planning on it treequip but im at a catch 22 situation. I cant afford it because im not earning enough. And my best chance of earning more is to get a groundsman job. I can probably afford a trailer licence OR CS30 and a chipper ticket:confused1:
  9. Do you think I would increase my chances of employment much if I got CS30 and a chipper ticket? I know you dont legally need a chipper qualification but it tells the employer immediately that I can use a chipper and that would go in my favour surely? I cant afford a full CS30/31 course at the minute.
  10. I tried giving all the better known companies around me a call but none of them had any opportunities for me. Even when I enquired about a couple of days free labour none of them sounded remotely interested. One company even said they cant let me on the site at all with no qualifications.
  11. Cheers Mark im really keen im determined to get where I want to be and ill do anything I can to get there
  12. Heeps of brilliant advice on here lads ill let you know how i get on thanks to you all
  13. To be honest id love to do that but its not really in my character to be quite that spontaneous if you get my drift? I think if you have the personality to pull that off then it would be the best first impression you could get.
  14. Will do cheers for the advice ill give him a call bright and early tomorrow Ill let you know my progress...if any lol
  15. Right so first step give him a call, informal ask him for a job, sound keen tell him im willing to show up with boots and a helmet the next morning? Keep it basic?
  16. Lucky escape I would have said Beechwood. Now I feel stupid I looked all over the site I couldnt find anything. I bet you will tell me that is on the home screen now
  17. Bit of a strange situation for me considering I dont have any Chainsaw qualies, but to be fair I might actually do something like that. Show up smart/casual and ask to sit and have a chat with him. What is the best time to catch him at the office? My day off is tomorrow so I might give him an email tonight and go in Tomorrow. Ask for him hopefully I wont get sifted and told to send an email or something.
  18. Good point! Ill get on it So 'Mr Beechwood'? I just want to make sure, it seems obvious but it sounds even more stupid if I call him something that isnt even his name, great first impression that would make
  19. Best to ring the company and ask for him or send him a message on here? I cant help but think if I rang the company I would be ushered away. On here it seems like I have done a bit more research into everything, and its slightly more personal, if that makes sense? All the pep talks on here have definatly raised my spirits
  20. Ill try my best ill drop him a line before I make a fool of myself, is Beechwood his surname? The last thing I want to do it call him Mr Beechwood if its wrong. That wouldnt be a great first move
  21. Its not so much not being able to afford the course, thats not the problem. Its basically that I have to pay alot towards the house because of the problems in the description. I suppose a better way of saying it would be that I cant afford to not work. As opposed to cant afford college. And what ways and means exactly were you referring to? Which company does he work for Phil? Ill drop him a line see what he can do for me. At the end of the day even just a couple of hours of work is more experience than I have at the minute! Penfold if you could recommend any decent apprenticeships I will defiantly look into them. That was originally my favoured idea but I couldn't find any for exactly what I wanted to do.
  22. So for one reason or another, including my dads redundancy and my mom loosing half her customers, I cant afford to go to college ive no choice but to get a steady income so I now work 25-30 hours a week in nothing to do with Arboriculture or forestry what so ever. I was really looking forward to going to college so it really is gutting. Im so keen to get into the industry and I cant really think of any other ways as good as what I was going to do. So im pretty much groveling for help and advice! what shall i do and help id really appreciate!
  23. So the best thing to do really is to physically go to the lads at the company? Show them how enthusiastic I am make a good impression tell them about what im doing at college and stuff and hope they take a shine to me?
  24. That sounds like some pretty decent advice! Do you think it would be a good idea to visit a couple of my local arb companies and ask them if they need any workers? Im going to college so ill tell them but obviously if they say they would take me if I just had my tickets then I would probably stay. Possibly.
  25. Exactly my problem Rob. You need experience to get a job, but need a job to get the experience. Its a catch 22 situation. But oh well I have to do my best. Ill defiantly look into adding to my driving licence categories!
